The novel, The Outsiders, by S.E. Hinton, is a story that connects with teenagers everywhere. When I started reading the book for class, I thought it was going to be just another boring school book; it turned out to be so much more. Over the course of the story, Ponyboy, the main character, learns the true meaning of being a hero and that a hero can come from anywhere. Ponyboy’s realization doesn’t happen overnight, but after tragic, unexpected events that take place in his life. Like in the story, it took a tragic, unexpected event in my life for me to realize the true meaning of a hero.
