It has always been my dream to become an officer in the military ever since I was young. My uncle was in the military and loved it, he always told me stories about it and how much he enjoyed it. Growing up hearing his stories and seeing his uniform made me want to do it one day. Well, for me that one day is here now and I am proud to put on that uniform and call myself a soldier. I have always been a leader in my family, my community, and in my life in general. I like to not just be in charge but, I like to inspire those around me. I enjoy setting the example for those around me to follow. I want to be and officer so that I can be the example for the new soldiers who come in full of ambition and dreams. I want to be the leader they can trust and follow into any situation no matter what it is. However, I also want to be someone they can rely on and talk to whenever something is going on in their lives. I want to be an officer so I can help those around me and change the Army for the better. First, there is respect, just because you have the rank and status of an officer doesn’t mean those below you in your command are going to respect you. A lot of people are going into the army as officers thinking everyone owes them something and that they have to do what they say. All I can say to that is, you’re in for a rude awakening. As officers we should respect those below us and talk to them as a leader should not a boss especially our NCOS and PSG.
