In today’s society there are multiple ways for teenagers to get active these days. It starts by setting your mind to a goal. There are many obstacles that teenagers over come when it comes to being active. Yet teenagers want to have that nice fit body but they just do not know where to start.
When teenager’s think of being active they think of having to run two miles every day, do core workouts, constantly doing something that is hard-hitting. Well that is not the case. If you are just starting to work out you are not going to be able to run the two miles or do anything. Therefore you should start off with something that is basic like walking. “Have them start their program slowly and be consistent” (Faust). When being consistent you will gradually over time going to be able to do much more

It affects our emotions and what we think of ourselves. This leads up to depression. “Overweight kids often have feeling of depression” (Williams and Tinsley). When kids start having low self esteem they start to think that they are not able to do anything. When they have their mind set on not being able to do something, they will not be doing anything at all. This means that they will not even exercise. But if one person starts to tell them that they can help them and be able to work out with them that will change everything. It all starts with just setting your mind to your goal and slowly make progress to it. The goal does not have to be a huge goal but something small like, I want to run a mile in eight minutes. One way for someone to get active is to join a gym or a group that works out together at least twice a week. So you are able to set out a specific time to dedicate your time to working out. Another benefit is that you have support from the others that are working with you while you are trying to reach for the goal. There are many ways to get active but you just have to explore those
The child could enter depression as other kids make fun of him for not fitting in the “norm”. Then back at home, the family may even encourage such eating behaviors to the child. Families spend lots of time being concerned about other health aspects of their kids, but fail to see that being obese can have very powerful emotional impacts on their children. Now, in my case, I was raised in a Hispanic family, and like many other families of our ethnic group, we tend to neglect obesity and even fall in the error of looking at it as something good. From my experience with my family and friends, as I compare with the families of other ethnic groups, we have the most obese or overweight children....
Why do you want to go to Asmsa? Why leave home for this school? Is it even the right place for you? All of these questions I have heard be asked before, by my parents, my friends, even I ask myself if this is the right choice, but every time I hear it, I have the answer ready. Of course Asmsa is the right place for me, not only is the school I’ve looked forward to going to since the 7th grade, It is the type of school I’ve always needed to put me in the mindset for learning. The school is a community of learners and full of people who want to achieve, to do more than just graduate, to be more than just valedictorian, and to ask the questions that most wouldn't even care about. The staff at Asmsa is also very educated in the fields they teach, so any and all questions you may have they can answer and don’t teach “for the test,” so to
A child who is obese is automatically more likely to be exposed to a variety of health hazards throughout his or her life. It is estimated that “15 percent of children between six and nineteen suffer from obesity” (Lee and Sprague). A person who is deemed obese, is someone who has “a body fat percentage of more than 25 percent in boys and 32 percent in girls” (Lee and Sprague). Being severely overweight exposes you to more diseases than someone who is not overweight. Obese people “are more likely to develop type 2 diabetes . . . [from] being overweight” (Lee and Sprague). Some health issues, such as hypertension, heart attacks, and cancer can be obtained from being obese. If you were to ask someone how it feels to be obese, the given reply would probably be that they feel unattractive, and have low self-esteem, which can cause an indirect mental illness. This mental illness in some cases may lead to the person becoming so down and depressed that they may make an attempt and sometimes be successful in committing suicide.
... that children who were teased about being overweight were more likely to have poor body image, low self-esteem, and symptoms of depression. The results of the study foun that 26% of teens who were teased at school and home reported they had considered suicide, and 9% had attempted it. (“Obesity” pg. 1) Some overweight children might start to emotional eating, instead finding comfort in their peers they turn to enemy which is food adding more calories to their plate. Researchers state that no matter your age, carrying around extra weight has its psychological consequences (“Childhood Obesity Take” pg. 1) “It’s not simply being overweight that leads to depression” said Eric Storch at the Department of Pediatrics and Psychiatry at the University of South Flordia “It’s being overweight and getting a bunch of crap about it from peers that leads to anxiety or depression.”

It causes heart diseases from high cholesterol and high blood pressure, asthma, and type 2 diabetes, and other health conditions. Obese children can have weight related health problems all the way into adulthood. This is something we need to resolve not only does it because physical pains but also psychological issues. Obese children tend to have low self-esteem and other social problems because of their weight. This is caused from the discrimination that overweight children and adults can face in their life.
In further studies, obesity is proven to lead children to have behavior problems as they get older. “In addition, research has found that overweight children tend to become adolescents with lower self-esteem and significantly higher rates of sadness, loneliness and nervousness. They’re also more likely to engage in high-risk behaviors such
Over the past decades our culture has changes dramatically. To which our nation was once a physically active nation. Yet now it seems that society discourages physical activity. The human race has been dependent on automobiles, discouraging people to walk or bike, increasing the chance of a poor life-style. Yet there are many factors that affect the achievement and maintenance of a healthy life. Young people are growing into a diverse society, which is characterized by rapid change, inactive work and leisure practices that influence unhealthy behaviors. By incorporating physical activity into peoples daily routine will increase their chances of being healthier, reducing certain diseases and learning how to avoid injuries. Physical education helps students improve their knowledge about health issues and practices that will lead to a more enjoyable life. Students playing and working in a team together develop social skills, teamwork, achieving goals, and development of self-esteem. Overall physical education provides the potential for a better life style.
People should also consider doing more activities in order to maintain a healthy status. According to the Department of Health and Human Services and Department of Agriculture, “physical activity levels have remained low over time”. This research proves that young adults are eating more and exercising less. Maybe changing eating habits and doing more exercise would help them to improve their health.
Overweight people are affected by physical and emotional health problems. A few of the most common physical problems related to obesity include asthma, hypertension, polycystic ovary syndrome, type 2 diabetes, and sleep problems (Kids Health.org). Other known risk factors are coronary heart disease, stroke, gallbladder disease, osteoarthritis, and some forms of cancer (win@info.niddk.nih.gov). These health conditions are becoming more and more common, society needs to promote this generation towards a healthier life style. Furthermore, schools need to better educate kids on the detrimental factors of obesity beforehand. In addition,
The Pressures on Today's Teenagers Today's teenagers are unruly and lack concentration. Their lack of concentration is a result of the plethora of distractions in society. Teenagers should be taught discipline and mobile phones, computer. games etc should be banned from the age of 14 to 16. This would enable all teenagers to fulfil their potential at GCSE level.
Some activity clubs we provide include, dancing, running, jump roping, basketball and soccer clubs, just to name a few. These clubs encourage kids to stay active. Our PE program also sends out monthly newsletters to the parents that give them ways to help their child live a healthy lifestyle. The National Association for Sport and Physical Education states, “Regular physical activity improves functional status and limits disability during the middle and later adult years. Physical activity contributes to quality of life, psychological health, and the ability to meet physical work demands. Physical education can serve as a vehicle for helping students to develop the knowledge, attitudes, motor skills, behavioral skills, and confidence needed to adopt and maintain physically active lifestyles. The outcomes of a quality physical education program include the development of students’ physical competence, health-related fitness, self-esteem, and overall enjoyment of physical activity. These outcomes enable students to make informed decisions and choices about leading a physically active lifestyle. In early years children derive pleasure from movement sensations and experience challenge and joy as they sense a growing competence in their movement ability. Evidence suggests that the level of participation, the degree of skill, and the number of activities mastered as a child directly influences the extent to which children will continue to participate in physical activity as an
