President Obama is telling America’s school children the importance of valuing their education. He does this by explaining that we need education for most jobs, we need to learn never to give up, and we have no reason to pass through school with no care for our future.
Firstly, Obama shares the truth about your education and jobs. We need years of education for almost all jobs that can provide enough to support you. He says, “You’re going to need a good education for every single one of those careers. You cannot drop out of school and just drop into a good job. You’ve got to train for it and work for it and learn for it.” Obama expresses the significance of going to school by explaining how school sets us up for our jobs and futures.
We shouldn’t expect to get a job if we have not gone through the educational system. School teaches us a lot for specific jobs and without that knowledge we’d have no one in that field. This is just one reason school helps build our future. Second. we can always try our best in school. The president speaks about the issues of perseverance; “These people succeeded because they understood that you can’t let your failures define you - you have to let your failures teach you.” Don’t give up and keep trying is what he means. We have to grow and learn, not get held back because of one mistake. This is very important because in school sometimes we fail, and we need to know that it is okay. Lastly, we all have a reason to try and be a good student in school. Obama states, “... the circumstances of your life - what you look like, where you come from, how much money you have, what you’ve got going on home - none of that is an excuse for neglecting your homework or having a bad attitude in school.” He explains that we all have a responsibility to take school seriously and to care about it. No matter what is happening in your life, school is still important and it still impacts your future whether you try or not. Overall, education provides us with job opportunities; we need to take our education and learn and grow with it; and finally that we can do well in school no matter what our outside lives are like. Education helps us in many ways, but the only way it can truly benefit us, is if we value it by working hard and trying our best.
In the Obama Sandy Hook School Shooting speech, the exigence that Obama talked about was the tragedy of the school shooting. In the speech, he talks about how he is reacting as a parent and not as a president. Obama also talks about how the children had their life ahead of them. He basically said the children were going to become something in life; some were going to get married, and some were going t...

In the speech, “America’s Schoolchildren”, President Barack Obama uses Ethos, Pathos, and Logos in an effective manner to support his claim that every student should have an active role in the responsibility of their education. First and foremost, President Obama begins his speech with an anecdote from his life, “I get it. I know what it’s like. My father left my family when I was two years old, and I was raised by a single mom who had to work and who struggled at times to pay the bills and wasn’t always able to give us the things that other kids had” (Obama 72). In his statement, he give us a personal story from when he lived in Indonesia, that he too went through hardships of having his father leave his family when he was two, not always
What is your definition of gun control? In the essay “There is a reason they choose schools”, you will discover what gun control means to Timothy Wheeler. Wheeler is a major part of the organization, Doctors for Responsible Gun Ownership. He has written an essay in which he is trying to prove that without being able to use self-defense, guns pose a public health risk. Wheeler has worked with many physicians, medical students, and scientist who support his theory. By doing extensive studies in previous gun violence cases, they want to prove guns are more than just a health issue, they are a health crisis. Not only to those who carry them, but also to those who don’t. In many of these studies, they used schools as the primary target of gun violence.
If you obtain this power of education it is a fact that your chances to get a job are greater and, therefore the chances of a better life are increased. "For example, in 2014, the employment rate for young adults ages 20 to 24 with a bachelor's degree or higher was higher than the rate for young adults with some college (88.1 vs. 75.0 percent)," (U.S. Department of Education, National Center for Education Statistics). Alexie has had a very successful career and because of his education, he got a job where he is able to do what he loves and get paid and that is a success from
In “Obama Promotes Plan for College Affordability on Michigan trip,” Michael Shear introduces Barack Obama’s plan regarding reasonable costs for college. Obama expresses his idea that college should be less expensive than it currently appears to be. He is supportive of education, intending to ensure that strong willed people who desire to persevere and have a higher education actually receive it. It is Mr. Obama’s belief that one of several steps toward success in life is education. Announcements made within public places by promoting students or community college is a large commitment approaching his daring plan.
The article Should the Obama Generation Drop Out, written by Charles Murray, a politicial scientist, is the idea of disregarding the bachelor 's degree as a job qualification. With his leadership role as the President, Murray believes Barrack Obama should be the one to make this happen. “It 's what you can do that should count when you apply for a job, not where you learned to do it” (Murray 1). Not every family can afford to send their child to a four-year college to get a bachelors degree, while not every child wants to obtain a bachelors. What about the children who aren’t at the top of their academic class or can 't afford college, but would like a career? It 's not just the career focused classes you 're required to take, but there’s also
College is not for everyone, although, everyone should have some form of higher education. "Should everyone go to college?" is an essay meant to inform students of the pros and cons of going to college. Owens and Sawhill state that the cost of a college degree may not be worth the money that students put into furthering their education. In their article, Owens and Sawhill use three different rhetorical appeals; egos, logos, and pathos; to persuade the readers to think consciously about attending college. Their argument was effective because it forces the readers to look at the overall college experience in different aspects.
He expresses his point by giving the time he has to be in at work. I agree with the author point as white collar jobs allow more flexibility. But there are some disadvantages as well. You can become less physically fit, work pressure increase and you are always in close proximity to everyone. I think the author has met his goal by directing the audience attention to the hours he awake for work. He was very direct in giving a great description of what his job consists of in the morning as well. He explained how the first thing he see is rows of machinery and how it has all been replaced by college. In closing, I agree with my claim that an education will give you a better quality of life. You can see from the key points that without an education you may be susceptible to factory jobs with harsh hours and intense
"President Obama Announces Steps to Reduce Dropout Rate and Prepare Students for College and Careers." The White House. The White House, n.d. Web. 05 Feb. 2014. .
Higher education, for low-income high school graduates can become a burden to their families and futures. For many high placed jobs it is ensured that their employees have some kind of postsecondary education; but most students will not go anything beyond a high school diploma. Different reasons range as to why students are not exceeding in their education and one of them is college is simply unaffordable. This is why students should be provided with at least two years of free college education if they show to be progressing in their high school classrooms. President Barack Obama has already created a proposal in his State of The Union Address speech that can make this a reality for all American students.
One reason why college education is important because now a high school diploma does not make a person qualify; however, they need a college degree. In fact, the workforce is pushing people to get some college education to better equip for their jobs. In general, the degree increases higher earning potential which places people above the poverty line. Hrabowski stated, “At stake isn’t just a clearer path to financial stability, but the path to limitless possibilities” (261). Consequently, in the essay Should Everyone Go to College? one option, that best answer the essay to have a democratic society that is highly educated. Both authors, Owen and Sawhill suggests that “additionally, there are social benefits to education, such as reduced
I decided to write my paper using the essay “Should Everyone Go to College” written by Stephanie Owen and Isabel Sawhill. This essay talks heavily about the differences between a bachelor’s degree and a high school diploma. When considering what a person wants to do for the rest of his life, the first option he might consider is whether he needs to go to college to do so. Though people may think college is not for them, a college may be more than they think. The higher the college degree, someone earns, the bigger chance he has to make more money.
“Education is the key to the future: You've heard it a million times, and it's not wrong. Educated people have higher wages and lower unemployment rates, and better-educated countries grow faster and innovate more than other countries. But going to college is not enough. You also have to study the right subjects” (Alex Tabarrok). Education is something that is extremely vital in life during these times that we live in. Higher paying jobs come with years and years of school and studying. A vast number of individuals in America and across the country have not continued their education post-high school. Many don’t feel the need to go out and get a higher level of education due to its extremely high costs or their desire to begin work straight
A time approaches in every person’s life when they must come to learn new things. Speaking on behalf of all those who have attended school at some point in their life, I must say that most do not like it for its educational significance. Today’s youth undervalue the worth of America’s public school system to the point of shame. Hard-working, underpaid teachers and professors prepare to educate these ingrates as their living, and it’s exasperating for the students to not even care. I must be fair though and call attention to the fact that not everyone shares this loathe for education and schooling.
