An education is something that one can keep for a lifetime. Acquiring a good education can affect one’s personal life, one’s community, and one’s entire generation. The only person who truly controls how educated I am, is me. My education feeds my intelligence, and since I want to be an intellectual, I want an exemplary education. In the end, no one can transfer knowledge from one brain to another, like a money transfer from account to account. It is something that I have to achieve with hard work and effort. Of course, I want someone to push me to learn and to grow, but I must decide for myself whether I want to succeed, or not. I know that I want to succeed and earn my education. I want to know everything there is to “know”. Ultimately, I would like to be able to use my knowledge to teach others, and give them the ability to spread knowledge throughout the world. The education one earns is something that does not just affect them, but rather, it affects all the people around them. Many great minds believe that education is a powerful tool. Investing in your education is the most valuable and most rewarding thing a person can do to secure their future. Influential people who have brought positive changes to the world have said: “The investment in knowledge pays the best interest”. (Franklin). “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”. (Nelson Mandela). “A brighter future starts with an education”. (Montgomery).
Neil Noddings said, “The main aim of education should be to produce competent, caring, loving, and lovable people.” We often look at education as a means to an end, just adding designations and credentials to our business cards. The idea that it is just a stepping stone towards the security of employment. We all cram our minds with intellectual concepts, formulae and everything else we can to achieve the goal of being well-educated. However, what it means to be well educated in reality, all comes down to perspective and context. A 10-year-old child living in a third-world country would consider a 10-year-old in Canada well-educated. A homeless man on the street might consider a 5th grader to also be well-educated. There is no standard test of measure to show just how-well educated we are, or if we are educated enough, and that’s because the context of our education is vital as well.
...aluable an education can be. The late South African president Nelson Mandela once said “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Earlier, the obvious benefits that come with having a good education were discussed, but it is this ability to change the world a person lives in that is the truly valuable benefit of an education. It should be this ability that motivates more people to be good students and do their best to receive an excellent education. A lot of people forget or do not understand that bad students do not receive the knowledge or have the character needed to induce changes on such a large scale. One after another forget the power of an educated mind, fall into the habits of a bad student, and never look back. Imagine what the world would be like if even half of all bad students knew the great power within their grasps.
Education is a social problem that is very prominent in the world today. Education affects not only children currently attending school, but what they do when they are older. It affects where someone may end up later in their life, what job they will have, and how much money they will be making. Unfortunately, not everyone graduates high school, goes to college, and earns a high paying job. The cards some people are dealt can be much different, and education today arises as a social problem because of income, family life, and the area someone lives. These three areas can really help someone in their education, but it can also set them back.

Becoming educated and informed about your health, work and social issues can only help in the long run.
Education is a vital part of society. It serves the beneficial purpose of educating our children and getting them ready to be productive adults in today's society. But, the social institution of education is not without its problems. Continual efforts to modify and improve the system need to be made, if we are to reap the highest benefits that education has to offer to our children and our society as a whole.
Getting an education can financially empower a person. Many jobs in today’s society require not just a high school degree but also now a college degree. Even just getting a high school diploma will make a difference for a person when they are trying to get a job. To be able to finically support yourself as well as a family it is vital to have a reliable and stable job that a person can get through having an education. There is a lot of competition in America for a good job and for getting certain positions, and having an education will empower a person to be picked for the positions. It will also allow a person to secure the job they get so they do not have to worry about starting all over again. John Taylor Gatto argues that school systems “cripple our kids.” He says “We have been taught ...

Anywhere a person goes, there are people demanding that people have a certain level of education. This makes wanting to get into a certain profession hard to do.
