Healthcare Career Path A healthcare is an overgrowing field that one can find many different possibilities to choose from. When initially decided to go back to school with the goal in mind of being healthcare management. I researched many different degrees in the healthcare field; I originally thought to go to nursing school thinking that was a way to put my feet in the field and then move to a more administrative position. However, after I did a little more research in healthcare field decided to go for healthcare management. “Employment of medical and health services managers is projected to grow 17 percent from 2014 to 2024” With the generation of baby boomers heading towards retirement age, more of them will need to use the healthcare system, and this generation contains more people than previous generations have. Also, because this generation is probably living longer than any previous generations, they are more likely to have more chronic diseases as they age, which means more demand on the healthcare system as a whole. The medical and healthcare management will be highs demand to organizer information that and other need that a patient will be required. Working as medical and healthcare service requires some qualities like communications skill to communicate effectively with other medical professionals and staff. Although there are some cons of health care management career, I still think the pros outweigh them. Working in a healthcare management field is very rewarding even though the job market in the small cities and rural area is a little limited. I think that the implementation of the electronic health record system across the United States will certainly bring more jobs in those underserved areas. Being working in a similar field, I do enjoy the flexibility the job offers me. If I were working in a different department, I would not have an option of working and studying fulltime. Despite the fact that most of the entry level positions in health care management field are paid less, it is still better than how much other companies pay to their entry level

The role of a Healthcare Administrator is very important whether it be an administrator in a clinical setting, hospital setting, or long term care setting. All of these settings require the same main skills in the position of the person fulfilling the role as Healthcare Administrator; those skills are communication and relationship management, leadership, professionalism, knowledge of the healthcare environment, and business skills. If any one of these skills is missing, this person could be doing a disservice to the organization they are a member of.
A career in the medical field is always evolving, and always needing more hands. I knew from a young age that helping people is what I was meant to do, and from then on out every step I took was the way to a successful career in nursing. It is a profession that allows you to see people at their worst, all while helping them become their best. The most important task for nursing students is to create a clear pathway for our education, and to be sure to follow that plan accordingly. When choosing this career, I had to access my own strengths and weaknesses and really establish clear goals for myself and evaluate if I had what it takes to be a part of this diverse and skilled profession. The healthcare field is always changing so that employee must be flexible and able to handle and maintain the changes that are taking place in their environment. Being in the military for 5 years I feel that I would be flexible enough for this job. I have always worked in the health care field so I know how often policies and standards are changing.
