Health Care Field Career

There are many reasons for wishing to pursue my career that I choose in the health care field. The career which I have chosen was to become a nurse practitioner. Here are some of the reasons I have chosen this career field. I am able to help many people change their lives in this field. In the health care field, I can help treat people with their problems and also teach them how to become healthier. In the health care field, you are always learning something new every day. I love learning new things in school even though the subject or item might be difficult.
One of my goals for becoming a member of the health care field was to choose the college to attend to become a nurse practitioner. The college I did chose was to go to North Carolina

Central University. North Carolina Central University was my dream school. I’d always wanted to go there since I was little. Plus, my aunt attended that college. She is also a member of one of their sororities as well. I have taken some of my courses at COA that I would have to take when I would be a freshman at North Carolina Central University next school year. I also take Mrs. Gardner classes. Mrs. Gardner classes include Health Team Relations, Health Science 1, Health Science 2, and Pharmacy. However, I do not wish to take her Pharmacy course.
My second goal was to get certified in things that average teenager would not even think about. I am a certified vision screener and a certified CPR and First aid worker. I also learned how to do vision screenings. So now I am certified to do vision screenings through Prevent Blindness North Carolina. Now children in schools through are able to get vision screenings for free. Because if a child cannot see, this can affect the students ability to learn which can lead to bad grades. Also, I recently just got trained to do CPR and First aid. I am certified to do CPR through the American Heart Association.
My third goal was to at least get fifty hours of community service. So far, I have fifty hours. However, I am planning to get more hours. I volunteer in the community. For an example, in November, I volunteer at the foodbank. I had fun doing this because I have never did it before. People always say try new things. I did vision screenings for the middle school students and Hertford grammar students. Also in December, I will be going to Hertford Grammar School to teach kids from grades kindergarten to fifth grade about the body system. This will be happening for three days.
Finally, my fourth goal was to learn new things. This past year, I learned how to take a person’s vital signs, how to accurately put on and remove PPE Equipment, different type of microorganisms and methods used to control the spread of sickness, and Aseptic procedures. During the time I was learning how to do blood pressure and pulse, and accurately take somebodies brachial and radial pulse. Also, I am taking OSHA courses online. This is a 10 hour course.
These was the many reasons I wished to pursue a health care career. I do wish to become a nurse practitioner. With my goals accomplished, I am able to treat people with their problems and also teach them how to become healthier. Now I can become successful in the health care field. And feel happy with my self.
