My purpose in applying to Newcastle University for graduate studies is to prepare myself for a career in research and development in the field of Fluid Dynamics. I am keen to pursue Ph.D. under the supervision of Professor Srinil in fluid dynamics as my primary area of interest. My motivation for graduate studies comes from the desire to be at the forefront of the pioneering developments in the field of fluid mechanics. I am confident that I possess the technical capabilities necessary to succeed in Newcastle University core requirement of the Ph.D. degree. During my undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, the fluid motion and its behavior under the application of different kinds of forces captivated my attention. In order to have an in-depth knowledge of Fluid Mechanics, I undertook courses like Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, and Heat Transfer. I have a 3.66 GPA in my undergraduate degree and these courses enabled me to develop a strong foundation for undertaking novel and challenging research projects. I also garnered considerable industrial experience having worked in the HVAC industry as a research and development expert and project manager. My undergraduate project was “Centrifugal Pumps Force Analysis for Achieving Higher Efficiency” under the supervision of Professor Torabian. This project testified the role played by the …show more content…
We published a journal paper “Tip-Vortex Noise Reduction of a Wind Turbine Using a Winglet” which simulates an axial wind turbine aerodynamics and the fluid-solid interactions. I also published another conference paper on Wave Energy and Motion Planning with another instructor of mine. This research projects helped in polishing my numerical and theoretical skills and gave me an opportunity to work independently in a highly competitive research
Research My first research experience took place from the Fall 2012 – Summer 2013 in a neurobiology laboratory (Dr. Daniel Plas) focused on Parkinson’s Disease. In this project an undergrad student and I were tasked with optimizing a cellular medium for neural growth of the model organism Lymnaea stagnalis. This was comprised of following established protocols and altering certain variables within the formulas (differing concentrations of ions, pH, et al.) to observe growth pattern differences in vitro.
We live in a technologically advanced era, an era that has impacted communication immensely. Not only is communication important for social lives and individual development, but it also strikes the educational and academic spheres, as well. As a daughter of immigrant parents, I was given the immeasurable opportunity of getting an education here, in the United States. Through my family’s teachings, and my own personal development, I’ve come to value education, perseverance, a strong work ethic, and intellectual flexibility.
I plan to pursue a career in nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. This career take many steps to complete. But it is different routes you can take and different programs you can enroll in for this profession. Family Nurse Practitioners can prescribe medication and diagnose patients and give treatment. They can work either in hospitals and or clinics as a primary healthcare provider. They can also order specific x-rays and test that need to be done for a patient. The nurse practitioners interact with less patients in a clinic than in a hospital. Np’s have privileges to prescribe medications in every state.
I was attracted to the Norlin Scholars community over any other opportunity at CU because I fit the Norlin Scholars program academically, socially, personally, and in terms of what I want for my future. None of the other programs I researched came as close as Norlin Scholars to matching my ideal vision for my time at CU.
How will you contribute to the mission of the National Health Service Corps in providing care to underserved communities?
I have always set big goals, and had even bigger dreams. However, these dreams aren’t like those of some of my classmates such as becoming a movie star or a famous soccer player, but ones of curing cancer and providing the world with answers to scientific phenomena. Should the Gatton Academy provide me the chance to take the next step toward fulfilling these dreams, very little would prevent me from attending.
There are two versions of internet protocols, Internet Protocol Version 4 and Internet Protocol Version 6. I will quickly brief you on differences in security, mobility, addressing space, speed, ease of administration. And why IPv6 is the successor of IPv4.
One of the most important abilities for a person to have is to be able to show respect towards others. Respect towards strangers, and even more importantly respect towards your enemies could be the difference between a mere rivalry, and complete disaster. This idea is demonstrated in Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and Homer’s The Odyssey. The protagonists of each of these novels share a similar archetypal role, yet because they handle their conflicts differently, their outcomes are opposite of each other. While both Odysseus and Victor have powerful arch enemies, only Odysseus is respectful towards his, enabling him to reunite with his family and regain his throne while Victor and his loved ones die tragically.
Fluid Dynamics is a subject that is well over 2,000 years old. Archimedes, da Vinci, Galileo and Newton are all classical forerunners of modern fluid dynamics researchers such as Bernoulli and Euler (Anderson 42). However, until the early 19th century, this subject was not well quantified; instead, textbooks were comprised of endless tables and figures demonstrating phenomena. When Daniel Bernoulli, Claude Navier and George Stokes introduced mathematics to the realm of fluid flow, new research was possible, but this work was highly theoretical and required extensive use of differential equations (Eckert 15). Ludwig Prandtl was the man who quantified many fluid flow principles and created his own theories about boundary separation and airfoil dynamics.
Law enforcement agencies have collected and analyzed data in effort to combat crime since the mid-1990s. It began with the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) creating the Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) program in 1930 to determine crime statistics for national comparisons. Today, the FBI compiles the UCR data from county, state, and federal agencies then releases that data in an annual summary report. The UCR served as the most important source of information on crime for law enforcement and legislators until a 1980s-report revealed the need for a more comprehensive and detailed crime reporting program. To serve this growing need, the FBI created the National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS).
“Life is a balanced system of learning, adjusting, and evolving. Whether pleasure or pain; every situation in your life serves a purpose. It is up to us to recognize what that purpose could be.” - Dr. Steve Maraboli
According to the American Nurses Association, nursing is defined as “the protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, facilitation of healing, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy in the care of individuals, families, groups, communities, and populations” (American Nurses Association, 2016). Nurses have many jobs and responsibilities and wear many different hats. Nurses can perform at many different levels depending on their scope of practice which is defined by the board of nursing in one’s state of residence. It is important as nurses to understand and follow
My interest in nursing began at age 18 at Bridgeport Hospital in Connecticut where I was trained as a Certified Care Partner, then as a Phlebotomist, followed by a two year surgical floor assignment and a one year burn unit stint.
Early years are recognised as the critical time for early learners to lay the foundations of life, shape future outcomes, develop healthy lifestyle and attitudes (Pendergast & Garvis, 2013, p.17). Nutrition and healthy lifestyle are paramount to children due to the fact that they directly influence brains and bodies’ development and growth. Moreover, nutrition, health and safety are working together to establish wellness which would influence children’s abilities to develop and thrive (Sorte, Daeschel & Amador, 2011, p.26). Accordingly, in order to give enough attention to children’ health and wellness, the National Quality Standard is designed to provide better care and attention for children (National Quality Area 2). This essay will analysis
The area of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) started with the steady advancement of high speed computers and also due to the development of efficient numerical algorithms, gaining importance. CFD complements experimental and theoretical fluid dynamics by providing an alternative cost effective means of simulating real flows. As such, it offers the means of testing theoretical advances for conditions unavailable experimentally. For example, wind tunnel experiments are expensive and are limited to a certain range of Reynolds numbers typically one or two orders of magnitude less than full
