The National Junior Honor Society is a society for students who earn high grade point averages and are active participants in their community. This society looks for five qualities in a student which include: academics, character, citizenship, service, and leadership. All of these qualities are important in a student’s life. These qualities help define a person and show how active they are within their own community. Perhaps one of the most important qualities is academics. Academics play an important role in a person’s life. When you receive a challenging and rigorous education, you become prepared for challenges that you will face later on in your educational future. In addition, you develop study habits and life skills, such …show more content…
A person’s character is how someone acts, treats other people, and behaves around other people. A person who has good character is trustworthy, helpful, friendly, kind, cheerful, and encouraging. It is important for a National Junior Honor Society to have good character because they are constantly interacting with community members, teachers, and peers. I have been a good character by having good sportsmanship on the football and baseball fields, by setting a good example, by being fair with people, and by being someone people can come to when they need help. All in all, a person’s character is important, but character is nothing unless you are a good …show more content…
Service is a person giving up their free time to help the people or community around them. Participation in service activities is important for a person because the service allows them to give back to their community and it allows them to feel proud of what they have done. It is important for a community to have service projects because without them they may not improve as a society, service projects allow communities to improve themselves. I have been involved in a service project called seeds. Seeds is a service project through my church where we take kids ages three through six, and take them out of the mass. We take them to a side room, where we read them a story and try to teach the kids a lesson about the story in a way that they will understand. Then we complete a small craft and play games until the mass is over. To be successful with this service project and others, the people who run them must have some leadership
Every member of the NJHS possesses these 5 characteristics in every way possible. I am beyond honored, and proud, to be able to call myself a member of the National Juniors Honor Society. I hope that more kids in the future will get into the NJHS, and our community will become a better
I feel that the importance of service is to help a person in need because you could change someone's life, not because you feel that you need to. People who love what they are doing are the people who effect everything around them.Service has impacted my life because it makes me a better person. My family feels the impact, the community feels the impact, even servicing for a few hours a week affects the people around you. It makes the community a better place to live.
I’m so happy to be given the opportunity to join National Junior Honor Society(NJHS). I would love to be a member. I think it is important for kids to be involved in the community. Also, myself personally it would be an honor to be a face for our school.
I believe the National Honor Society is a national symbol for good deeds, class, and intelligence. I would be honored to be inducted and be a member of an organization that represents service and intelligence. I believe both of those attributes help define who I am today and who I want to be tomorrow.
I equate service with helpfulness—assisting others. I help both my school community by answering questions and giving feedback and my community as a whole through my volunteer activities, the most enjoyable of which has been Habitat for Humanity.
The National Honor Society is a goal every student dreams of, often from their very first day of high school. I have been hoping for and working towards the opportunity to even write this application since the beginning of last year, and now that it comes time to finally put pen to paper (or finger to key in this case) I find it hard to express what an honor it is to be able to apply to this prestigious society. The National Honor Society sets a standard of achievement every student should strive to attain. This standard demands an aptitude for scholarship, highly capable leadership abilities, strong personal character, and devotion to serving and helping others.
I would be an excellent choice to be a member of the National Junior Honor Society because I show service, leadership, character, and citizenship. It is an amazing opportunity anyone is lucky to have, and I am more than happy to accept it. I love helping people, being able to feel accomplished knowing I put a smile on someone’s face. Being in the National Junior Honor Society, I’d love to share my ideas and thoughts on how to make the world a better place.
The National Honor Society is a very prestigious organization that I would love to be a part of. It was an honor to be nominated as a candidate. I am currently a sophomore in high school, and I have always wanted to be a member of the National Honor Society. As I look back over the years and think of the times I have attended the ceremonies and saw all the awards the members received, I recall saying to myself “That’s going to be me one day.”. I asked my teachers about all the requirements that had to be met to be a National Honor Society member and I made it my main goal to meet each and every one.
To be in the National Junior Honor Society, one must have good citizenship and character. I seek to be a part of this society because it is a great honor and shows not only to others, but also to myself, how hard I have worked throughout my years at Northvale Public School. I take part in school activities and have helped my teachers, so
National Junior Honor Society as a nation premier organization started to recognize outstanding middle-level students. NJHS is a way to honor students who have demonstrated an extraordinary amount of excellence in the areas of the five pillars which are, scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. This organization that was started in 1929 is a great opportunity for me to show my family and teachers how hard I work to get this far. I am deeply honored to be among the exemplary student who are being considered for this program. This organization the so many great things in society, and knowing that I could potentially be a part of it and play a part in futuring the impression that the organization has already made. I am a determined student, and will do anything to do my absolute best even when something hard is thrown my way. I have always hoped to be a part of something big like National Junior Honor Society, and I hope that this will be my chance to be a part of something big. In my essay I have provided several reasons why you should consider me being on National Junior Honors Society.
I am honored to be among the exemplary students who are being considered to be accepted to National Honor Society. I learned while researching National Honor Society that it calls upon students with outstanding academics and character. Throughout my life I believe I have demonstrated these qualities along with leadership from my participation in school, teams, and clubs.
Scholarship, leadership, character, service and citizenship are the key building blocks to a successful National Honor Society member. I believe that I represent and exemplify these attributes and possess qualities that would contribute positively to the grandioseness of National Honor Society. Scholarship is an essential key to a successful student and I believe I harbor this characteristic, as I have a vehement commitment to learning. In my opinion, education is crucial to have a prosperous life, therefore, I spend an abundance of my time diligently acquiring knowledge. Moreover, I consistently work to the best of my ability, regardless of merit or acknowledgment.
Scholarship, leadership, character, and service are four attributes that define an excellent student. Being in high school, it’s difficult at times to be a leader, show your character, and be involved with voluntary services while being focused on scholarship, but I have managed to do all four numerous times. I am so grateful and excited to have the chance to be a part of the National Honors Society.
I define character as a person with moral integrity, who exhibits multiple virtues of good behavior. However, character is not only how you think about yourself, but how other perceive you. That said character is a mixture of perception and action. They can range from empathy to honesty and when I think about character immediately respect, selflessness, and responsibility come to mind among other traits. Among the four pillars of NHS I feel character relates to most to me. I strive to be a person of character a tall order, yet an achievement I want to reach. I always hear about people with great character, and I think what must I do to be like those people. So, I hold many aspects of character close to me, especially respect . I feel that
Service to me means making a difference, creating meaningful moments, meeting new people and receiving a special feeling after. Service are actions done with or on behalf of others without any material or financial compensation. It means giving back to one’s school, classmates, and community enthusiastically; where one’s assistance is dependable as well as organized. Service is about working well with others and is willing to take on difficult or inconspicuous responsibilities. Service is only for those who are ready to represent the class or school in the inter-class and inter-scholastic competition, mentor persons in the community or students at other schools, or participates in some activity outside of school (volunteer services for the elderly, disadvantaged or poor).
