A piece of a resume may not have meaning to any ordinary person, but to the writer, a sheet of paper reflects a day and feeling that will not be forgotten.
As the writer sits in class, a National Honor's Society paper is passed around inviting all the eligible students to have a chance to join the Excalibur Chapter. The writer is excited; she has wanted to be in National Honors Society since she was a freshman. She watched her absences, kept good behavior, and strived for good grades in hope of being inducted during her Junior year. After reading the paper, the writer planned her resume and handed them to all of her former and current teachers along with a cover letter explaining her reasoning. A couple weeks later, fellow classmates were

The next morning arrived and the writer dressed nicely in hope of being voted into the society. In her first period gym class, she watched as all of her friends received necklaces placed around their necks. She waited and waited, losing hope of her chances. She now sat alone in her gym class, as every single one of her friends were attending their first meeting. A tear rolled down the side of her cheek.
Her gym teacher comes towards her and exclaims "What's wrong?"
"I didn’t make National Honors Society," she says.
He replies "Are you kidding me? I would have voted for you!"
"Well why didn’t you, Mr. Dalton. Your vote could have made all the difference."
She was extremely upset, but composed herself before she had to face anybody else. She didn’t want sympathy, but she received the pity look when her friends realized she did not make it. When she got home that night, she questioned everything. Is she not likable? Do teachers not like her? Why does she work so hard to just be disappointed? What has she done wrong? She soon came to the realization that she had not done anything wrong, this would only make her

She has never had a problem with a teacher; she actually gets along with all of them quite well. She maintains straight A's and is ranked 9th in her class. Juggling 6 weighted classes her junior year to 7 her senior year plus three sports (captain of 2), being 2nd maid of honor for the Buckwheat Festival, and Key Club activities, people may not realize the stress that she is under. But even with such stress, she still strives to do her best each and every day. People may not realize the constant cycle of getting home from an away game at midnight and staying up until 4am to finish homework. She doesn’t wear sweatpants everyday because she wants to, but because she is so mentally and physically exhausted in the mornings to care what she looks like. She has pulled multiple all-nighters studying for tests, but the average person would never know that. She pushes through, works hard, and never gives up. So when she is told she does not have the qualities to be a member of the National Honors Society, it is heartbreaking to say the least. Why is she trying to
We dread the thought of school because to us it is a chore, it’s a hassle, it’s something that messes with our sleep schedule, it is something that gets in the way of lounging around and binge watching Netflix. Pashtana doesn’t take her school and education for granted because she does not have the same liberties we do. While we enjoy driving into the city and shopping over the weekend, Pashtana unwillingly makes wedding arrangements with her cousin. While we complain about our mom nagging us to clean our room, Pashtana is getting beaten by her father because she wants to learn more about the world. While we have stocked fridges and pantries and

I’m so happy to be given the opportunity to join National Junior Honor Society(NJHS). I would love to be a member. I think it is important for kids to be involved in the community. Also, myself personally it would be an honor to be a face for our school.
I am writing to inform you of my possible contributions to the National Honor Society and my interest in becoming a member. I view myself as a strong minded individual with a strong incentive to learn. Acquiring the ability to learn fast and adapt quickly has enabled me to be a part of a wide range of organizations. My participation and loyalty to the NHS could result in a great strive forward. I could provide more ideas of services to benefit the school and our community. I would also devote a large portion of my free time to the organization and assist in any way possible. Whether that means coming in early in the morning or staying late after school, I would do any means necessary to show my commitment.
Being proud of something can have many different meanings to people, but to me, it means to be honored and to be glad that something happened. I am proud about many things in my life but one thing I am extremely proud of is my induction into the NJHS. NJHS stands for National Junior Honor Society.
As a student at Northvale Public School, I have grown up with my older siblings being inducted into an organization called the National Junior Honor Society. I had seen all the hard work and dedication they put into their school work and activities just to get into this society, making me want to be just like them. Then a few weeks ago, I found a note on my desk in homeroom telling me that I had been nominated to be apart of this society. Through citizenship and character, leadership, and service, I intend on being inducted into the society I have heard so much about. Though it will take a lot of effort this school year, being a part of this society is a dream of mine that I will make sure to come true.
Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps, also known as JROTC, is a government program supported by the United States Armed Forces in high schools and in some middle schools. JROTC makes the students of high school and middle school understand the advantages of citizenship. In addition, it prepares high school understudies for responsible leadership roles. The mission of JROTC is “To Motivate Young People to be Better Citizens”. A few of the outcomes are capable cadets who are certain of themselves, can think all alone, and can express their thoughts and sentiments unmistakably and briefly. JROTC can prepare students for post-high school success.
In the days leading up to her graduation, she was so excited about receiving her diploma for her academic accomplishments, even though she hasn’t accomplished a lot in life by experiencing a little bit of it. She felt like the birthday girl with her pretty dress, beautiful hair, and the presents she received from Uncle Willie and her mother. She felt like it w...

It is with great honor to be considered among the students of my class to be a part of the National Honor Society. the National Honor Society (NHS) has been an organization that has displayed great interest to me, with new leadership skills and responsibilities to take upon. I believe that I hold the leadership skills, service, character, and academic excellence that is required to become a member of the National Honor Society.
The National Honor Society is a very prestigious organization that I would love to be a part of. It was an honor to be nominated as a candidate. I am currently a sophomore in high school, and I have always wanted to be a member of the National Honor Society. As I look back over the years and think of the times I have attended the ceremonies and saw all the awards the members received, I recall saying to myself “That’s going to be me one day.”. I asked my teachers about all the requirements that had to be met to be a National Honor Society member and I made it my main goal to meet each and every one.
People say high school is supposed to be the golden years of your life. I don’t know what else in life is to come; however, my philosophy is to live in the moment and make the life you’re living in the present worthwhile into the future, not only for you but for those who surround you. I live my life participating in our community and getting involved in our school. The activities, and the people I’ve formed relationships with, are what have formed me into the person I have become today. The person I am today is not perfect, but I have learned from the mistakes I’ve made. I think the sense of maturity I have developed throughout my life has given me the determination to be the best person I can be. That being said, I would love to be inducted into the National Honor Society and not only represent our school, but represent our generation to the community not as a “selfie” generation but as a generation, with great potential.
The National Honor Society is a goal every student dreams of, often from their very first day of high school. I have been hoping for and working towards the opportunity to even write this application since the beginning of last year, and now that it comes time to finally put pen to paper (or finger to key in this case) I find it hard to express what an honor it is to be able to apply to this prestigious society. The National Honor Society sets a standard of achievement every student should strive to attain. This standard demands an aptitude for scholarship, highly capable leadership abilities, strong personal character, and devotion to serving and helping others. I believe I have a high aptitude in each of these four pillars of the National
As a student in her sophomore year, I am still learning about what I can do and what I want to do. Although I am young, my mother always told me that it is never too early to start thinking about the future, which is why it is an honor to be able to apply for the membership of being part of National Honor Society. I have always loved challenges no matter what the result because nothing is equal to the experience of trying. I take the things I have learned from my past experiences and use them as a guide to help me in the future. I haven't ever once stopped to give up if I encountered an obstacle, but rather embraced it and thought of ways to overcome them.
This passage occurred after both the resolution of the Chicago World's Fair on October 30th, 1893 and the beginning of the economic depression that engulfed Chicago’s businesses. Larson's purpose in this passage is to develop the connection that the Ferris Wheel and its inventor shared. Larson explains that the Ferris Wheel, the hallmark of the Chicago World’s Fair, remained in place until, “the spring of 1894”- only a year after the end of the Fair itself- and was moved elsewhere because it, “began losing money.” The amount of money spent transporting the wheel in combination with the steady decline of his steel-inspection company, Ferris, the inventor, had no choice, “but to sell most of the ownership of his wheel,” states Larson. Shortly thereafter, in 1896, Ferris and his wife separated, and two months after their separation he died at age thirty-seven of typhoid fever.
