A single human being is so incomprehensibly complex that it is nearly impossible for two to be alike. Despite being so vastly different, certain qualities are shared among successful leaders. They share many characteristics that allow them to continue when others cannot, and there are quintessential qualities that help the most in making efficient individuals. As a starter, people in positions of leadership are subject to various changes in their atmospheres. They have to adjust to their new, demanding environments and deal with many variables; this is necessary to be able to adapt at nearly a moment’s notice. In the ever-changing world, adaptability is crucial so that people can adjust and plan a new strategy for whatever task. Those who cannot do this fall behind, and the setback can prove to be extremely difficult. Very seldom is there a time when things are set in stone forever. Therefore, adaptability becomes an absolutely necessary quality in order to succeed. As aforementioned, without being able to adapt, a leader …show more content…
We had our sponsors and things were running smoothly. However, that changed rapidly as our main sponsor was diagnosed with cancer and had to undergo treatment. The co-sponsor was not nearly as active in the running the club. So, I was left with much more responsibility very quickly. What this meant is that I had to adapt to the newly bestowed responsibilities of receiving pertinent information, getting that information out, setting up meetings, and running events. While it was all somewhat overwhelming, using the important quality of adaptability aided in my adjusting. Just as important was being able to persevere throughout the year as the president taking on some sponsor responsibilities. Junior year certainly was a busy year as I had a full seven class schedule and participated in sports. Perseverance allowed me to continue forward with tenacity and
The National Honors Society is based off of four pillars: Scholarship, Leadership, Character and Service. These are all characteristics a member of the National Honor Society should exhibit. I believe that I possess all of these characteristics and should be given the chance of becoming a NHS member. This has also been a goal of mine since freshman year and would mean a lot to me to be apart of such a prestigious organization.
I am writing to inform you of my possible contributions to the National Honor Society and my interest in becoming a member. I view myself as a strong minded individual with a strong incentive to learn. Acquiring the ability to learn fast and adapt quickly has enabled me to be a part of a wide range of organizations. My participation and loyalty to the NHS could result in a great strive forward. I could provide more ideas of services to benefit the school and our community. I would also devote a large portion of my free time to the organization and assist in any way possible. Whether that means coming in early in the morning or staying late after school, I would do any means necessary to show my commitment.
Being proud of something can have many different meanings to people, but to me, it means to be honored and to be glad that something happened. I am proud about many things in my life but one thing I am extremely proud of is my induction into the NJHS. NJHS stands for National Junior Honor Society.
The four pillars of the prestigious National Honor Society demonstrate the traits I hope to continually develop: as a scholar, a leader, a volunteer and a person of strong moral fiber. I believe myself to be mature and motivated; I have an unyielding commitment to scholarship and intend to make a difference in the lives of everyone around me. The prospect of becoming a member has prompted me to take a look upon what I wish to accomplish as a part of this organization. By becoming an active participant, my goal is to enrich my school experience by means of volunteering in the community, serving as a role model for my peers, and fostering pride for our school.
When my English teacher first spoke about the National Honors Society, I was eager to find more information about it. I highly praise and admire everything it emblematizes; I hope to be able to contribute everything I have to offer. I believe I can be a notable member of NHS for my school, Saddleback High School, and my community. Finding three weaknesses and three strengths about myself was a stirring challenge. Alike everyone, I have weaknesses and strengths, but finding a way to explain them was difficult to me.
It is with great honor to be considered among the students of my class to be a part of the National Honor Society. the National Honor Society (NHS) has been an organization that has displayed great interest to me, with new leadership skills and responsibilities to take upon. I believe that I hold the leadership skills, service, character, and academic excellence that is required to become a member of the National Honor Society.
I am honored to be among the exemplary students who are being considered to be accepted to National Honor Society. I learned while researching National Honor Society that it calls upon students with outstanding academics and character. Throughout my life I believe I have demonstrated these qualities along with leadership from my participation in school, teams, and clubs.
The most effective leaders know better than to try to be someone they are not. They should always be searching for opportunities to reinvest in their strengths. Leaders need to stay true to who they are and make sure they have the right people around them. The book says those who surround themselves with similar personalities are at a disadvantage to those who are secure enough to be surrounded by people who strengths will compliment theirs.
Leadership is a quality which cannot be acquired by any person from the other but it can be acquired by self-determination of a person. Leadership can best be called the personality of the very highest ability-whether in ruling, thinking, imagining, innovation, warring, or religious influencing. Leadership is practiced not so much in words a it is in attitude and in actions. Their actions leave a long lasting memory in the line of history and lead up to may events that occur today. To be a leader one will need many qualities. Leaders have a purpose and strategies to accomplish that purpose. They are driven and motivated. In the end they should be able to attain good results. These innate talents help to make up a leader that will succeed and be efficient in carrying out tasks. But, the purpose of this paper is determine what truly makes a leader successful. A successful leader should be considered more on their impact rather than their accomplishments of their organizations alone for they are not sufficient in determining the key to their success .
The leadership is a result of a combination of traits, with special emphasis on the personal qualities of the leader, which he should possess certain personality traits that would be special facilitators in leadership performance. This theory shows that leaders are born as such, there is no likelihood of 'making' them later with personal development techniques.
You also need to showcase adaptability as a situational leader. An effective leader must adjust their behaviour depending on the requirements of the situation.
As a growing debate, the question at hand is whether great leaders are born with specific leadership traits, or if one can be taught certain traits over time. According to (Wikipedia.com) the approach of listing leadership qualities, often termed "trait theory of leadership", assumes certain traits or characteristics will tend to lead to effective leadership. I believe that leadership traits such as honest, competent, initiative, inspiring, hardworking, intelligent, and the ability to lead the masses, are some of the leadership traits one should possess. Within this paper, I will examine the overall concept of leadership traits, while observing the traits that were, or can be associated with successful leaders.
Regardless of how we tend to view leadership, research shows that leaders do not necessarily possess any more of these positive traits than anyone else. Effective leaders do, however, develop and practice certain behavioral skills that contribute to their success. Rather than relying on personality traits, leaders should work to develop their relationships with followers, peers and other leaders. Effective leaders show intelligence, good judgment, honesty and integrity, responsibility, stability, initiative, persistence, accountability, insight, maturity, dependability, optimism, enthusiasm, ambition, confidence, flexibility, vision, empathy, sincerity, charisma, and trustworthiness.
Prior to attending Noncommissioned Officer Academy (NCOA), I always asked myself “what can I do to improve as a leader?” After going over Module Five, Adaptable Leader in class, I identified Emotional Flexibility, within the Three Elements of Adaptability, as an area I need to focus on to be a successful leader. First, what is adaptability? According to Chapter Seven, Change Management, “adaptability is the ability to adjust to changed, unexpected, or ambiguous situations by actively seeking information and by demonstrating openness and support of different and innovative change ideas.” During our class discussion, we thoroughly analyzed the Three Elements of Adaptability: Cognitive, Emotional and Dispositional Flexibility, and how each
Leaders are individuals who engage in doing right things and inspire others to follow their footsteps. The characteristics of leaders and leadership styles vary depending on many factors including the environment they work in. For instance, leaders of a community, religion, and politics have their own distinct futures. However, they also share some common characteristics – a power to instill their vision and philosophy into their followers in order to attain a specific goal. Thus, the success and failure of leaders depend on their ability to inspire and guide their teams. In today's dynamic world, we need to carefully scrutinize what characteristics are required to be a great leader and yet what are the main challenges that can hinder leaders
