National Honor Society Research Paper

I am honored to be one of the remarkable students qualified to join Eureka High School’s National Honor Society. In school I have always tried and determined to do my best. I work hard for the grades I have achieved. I always show excellent character as I believe this is a very important skill to have and display. I seek and pursue many community service opportunities since giving back to others is key in strengthening our community. I demonstrate the qualities that are necessary to join this prestigious society, including leadership, character, scholarship, and service.
I naturally adapt to the role of being a leader and desire to provide additional assistance to others. I am involved in Eureka High School Junior Varsity Tennis. Because of my experience on the team, I teach many underclassmen and new players how to play by practicing with them and giving them pointers. I use my leadership skills to motivate and spread positivity to my teammates.

Also when playing doubles it is a key part to have good communication skills to cooperate and play well together. Through years of regularly babysitting, I have adopted many leadership skills. I have the responsibility to watch and care for young children, whose parents trust their children’s lives in my hands. I am a leader to the kids and compromise on activities we can do. I innately guide people when they need it and take on leadership roles to cause a positive change that affects the people around me.
A leader must develop and carry excellent character.

Possessing character traits such as cooperation, time-management, honesty, and perseverance has shaped me into the successful student I am today. Over the summer, I was employed at Six Flags St. Louis. This job has taught me how to cooperate with others and work as a team to get tasks done in a timely manner. I also have to take on responsibility with handling money and make sure I arrive at work on the times I am scheduled to do so. All throughout my high school career I have enrolled in classes that have challenged myself including AP European History, AP Chemistry, Honors Biology, and AP Government. I have persevered through theses classes and worked very hard to maintain outstanding grades. I have had to demonstrate responsibility by doing every homework assignment given and turning it in on time. I was honored to receive a Eureka High School Golden Standard Award for my excellent character my Freshman year. I was chosen for displaying my perseverance and

honesty.
Community service and giving back to the community is very important to me. Over the summer of 2016, I tutored 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders for 60+ hours (3 weeks). I volunteered to help the staff at Eureka Elementary to guide and help children that needed more assistance to go on to their next year of learning. For as long as I can remember, I help my grandma with St. Vincent DePaul food pantry at St. David’s church in Arnold, MO every month. I help my grandma with her church’s food pantry by doing simple tasks including marking the barcodes, organizing, and handing out the food to people. I am involved in Eureka’s HOSA club. HOSA has given me opportunities to give back as well. I took people’s blood pressure to help and monitor them and inform them about their health. When I volunteer I feel honored and happy to know that I am making an impact on their life. Knowing that I can help people, ultimately brightens my day; I love volunteering and helping people that might need assistance.
Due to my experiences and abilities, I believe I would make a beneficial member to this society. I am helpful and dedicated in anything I am involved in. I would love to be a part of this program because it would provide me with opportunities to be a leader and help my community. I hope you consider me to be a member of National Honors Society.
