This past summer I went to Valley View Ranch in Cloudland, Georgia and it had about 600 acres. It was an all-girls Sleepaway horse camp that lasted one or two weeks. I did the mini session, which was one-week long. I enjoyed it so much, I met the most wonderful people and made some great friends. It was just my mom and I, so on the drive there so we decided to stay the night at a little bed and breakfast. We also went to Lookout Mountain (Rock City) where we could see seven states, Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Alabama. On the drive there it was almost like we were dancing on the Georgia Tennessee border. The next morning after breakfast we drove out to Valley View ranch. It was like it was in the middle of nowhere. …show more content…
That week we did a campfire (s'mores and glow in the dark face paint), skits in a bag, and air-band. Air band was the best. We had to pick a song and put on a dance for the rest of the campers. My cabin was totally serious about it. We put on costumes and makeup and face paint, and we won! Our councilors said that if we won we were going to be able to raid the kitchen (COOKIE DOUGH) and we were able to stay up as late as we wanted. That night we even played late night poker with q- tips and socks. The next morning at 8:30 a bell went off letting us know that it was time for breakfast. All 5 of us walked into the Chuck Wagon with our pajamas on and stood in line waiting for our food. When we all sat down, we heard that our schedules for the day was on the board and we were to grab a piece of paper and write it down. Every one of us had a Western class, a Rodeo class, an English class, and an activity (swimming in the lake, crafts, and the newspaper- the Daily Neigh) which you sign up for. Then there were also trail rides at 9:30, 10:30, 3:30 and
We take them inside and then finally were on the road it only took 4 hours. Then we arrive at Sky Zone and we signed the Waivers and waited for my brothers. When they came Skyler,Riley,Domonic and I all agreed to a dodge ball against Elliot. Then about an hour and a half later I told Lori I was hungry so she bought us nachos then after that I played reality dodge ball. The last activity I did was Foam Zone. Then for late lunch early dinner we went to Red Robin.Dad had a burger that had ghost pepper sauce, jalepenos, and pepper jack chesse. Then Elliot and Skylier,Domonic Riley and I all talked on how we would run away to wherever. Then sadly very sadly we had to go home :{.On the way home we played 20 questions.Once during 20 questions Lori said she was a food I asked “are you a vegetable”she said “yes”I asked”are you green”she said “yes”then I said are you asparugus she
On the way to camp Kangaroobie we went to Mr Mcguane’s farm. The year 5 bus broke down so we came late. When we got there, we walked around this little river skipping rocks and getting stuck in the mud. When we arrived at camp, went to our cabins, and I was with, Emily, Felicia, Sarah, Grace and Klara, we packed our bag and went for a walk down to the beach! It was really fun because we went across rivers and walked through the sand dunes! When we got there, we jumped off and slid down the sand
Imagine the biggest deer of our life walking in front of us. The thing is so big that at first glance you didn’t even think it was a deer. That is what the Zellmer deer camp is all about. The deer camp was started seven and a half decades ago by my grandfather’s grandfather.
We started our travels down in Columbus Ohio. The week leading up to the big move we spent at Deer Creek State park, for a family reunion, where my dad and step mom, had the chance to see everyone again, before the journey began. Over all we had taken nine days to get to our destination. First stop, Saint Louis, Missouri, we stopped to see the Gateway Arch. It was a lot bigger than I thought it would be, so of course I was pretty amazed. The first few days were our longest driving days, but sense we broke up the days, our longest day was eight hours. The second day was the worst, Oklahoma is so boring to drive through, and nothing but flat crop farms, and wind turbines everywhere you look. We drove till we got about seventy five miles from the boarder of New Mexico, And Oklahoma. We got up early and began a shorter dive to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where we went to Petroglyph National Monument, yeah it was interesting, but after you see a few hundred, they all start to look the same. The next morning we took a beautiful hike and took many pictures to capture the moment. Other than getting there, my favorite part of the trip, was Arizona, where we stayed four days in Flagstaff, one day in Holbrook, and one day in Phoenix. I wouldn’t mind if I lived in Arizona, it’s a very beautiful state. My family and I stopped by the Petrified Forest National Park, and I
People who run ten cows or ten-thousand cows are classified as ranchers. Whether they spend ten minutes or ten hours in the pasture, they are considered ranchers. No matter the type of cattle, the main source of income, or the knowledge of the industry, people who own cows, are ranchers. However, there are some individuals who are more knowledgeable about cattle than others when it comes to breeding and raising livestock.
My youth pastor pulled out of our church parking lot at three am in the morning loaded down with a bus full of twenty four teenagers including me. We were off at last head to Colorado Spring Colorado, little did I know, our bus was going to fall apart this very day.
I awake by the music playing on the radio on 92.5FM. The clock read 5 ’o’ clock in the morning. While I could be sleeping in like everyone else my age, I rise quickly to put on a pair of bootcut jeans and a tanktop with my long, blonde hair pulled into a low ponytail. Lastly, I pull my ponytail through my blue and yellow hat with Rockin W Ranch stitched across the front. As I’m leaving for another long, hard working day on the horse ranch, I slip on my well worn cowboy boots. My day involves hard labor like: bailing hay, grooming horses, working horses, throwing saddles on Appoloosa horses, different obstacles, and my favorite riding horses. Around one in the afternoon, my legs and arms begin to shake with fatigue, but I must push on. I will move forward to finish as strong as I started.
Roller-coasters gliding upside down, winding through a loop, lasting for as long as I could remember. Learning many things I’ve had many memorable and important experiences. It all started in the 20th of July. It was a saturday and was my fifth day working at the daycare. There was a field trip that day that everybody excited about. They needed an extra person to help with the field trip and I gladly volunteered to go with them. There were many great things about working at the daycare, but my favorite memory is the day I went to Valley Fair.
I am jarred out of a relaxing sleep by a voice yelling my name in a loud whisper, and a light burning through my eyelids. Groggily, I open my eyes to see my father standing in the doorway to my messy room. He tells me that I need to get going, that it is 3:00 a.m., and I'm burning daylight. I find my clothes and get dressed. The whole time I wonder why I get up this early to visit the rugged outdoors. I want to go back to bed, but I know my dad will be back in to make sure I am getting ready, in a little bit. Instead, I put my boots and my wide-brimmed, black cowboy hat on, and walked out to catch the horses. The horses are all excited because it is dark and they are not that cooperative. My dad and I get them saddled and in the trailer, and go back into the house to get our lunch, water, and a cup of coffee. Now, we can head for the high country.
We started thinking of things to do and al decided that it would be fun to go tubing. We all met at my house and everyone that could drive got the people that couldn't drive in their car and we left.
Though we never really went to bed when we were told; we would stay up and play by a lamp so that their parents would not be able to see. Even though we never fell asleep until midnight we were woken up at 5 to go swimming before it got too hot. After Frolicking in Lake Halbrook, we would go to McDonalds and take it home. (Always getting a mighty kids meal of chicken nuggets, fries, and a Dr. Pepper.) After eating, we would take turns showering and watching movies, after a small binge of Disney, my favorite was always Cinderella. Before it got too dark, we would go outside and spend the rest of the day playing on the trampoline, tag and a few other childish games. Being outside, was the best thing, there were not any rules, like how loud we were, or no running; we were free to play as we wished. Even if we were not at home we were at the park playing outside until dark, then dragging ourselves home and eating whatever yummy food Lisa had made for us. Her specialty was lasagna, and Oh My God, it was so good! It was so cheesy, I once asked her if a whole cow was used just for our dinner. After dinner we would go right back to playing but we had to stay inside. Our favorite game to play was of course cops and robbers, Tonya and I were definitely the robber and we always got
there was no possible fishing hole in sight. All I could see was a river
I awoke to the sun piercing through the screen of my tent while stretching my arms out wide to nudge my friend Alicia to wake up. “Finally!” I said to Alicia, the countdown is over. As I unzip the screen door and we climb out of our tent, I’m embraced with the aroma of campfire burritos that Alicia’s mom Nancy was preparing for us on her gargantuan skillet. While we wait for our breakfast to be finished, me and Alicia, as we do every morning, head to the front convenient store for our morning french vanilla cappuccino. On our walk back to the campsite we always take a short stroll along the lake shore to admire the incandescent sun as it shines over the gleaming dark blue water. This has become a tradition that we do every morning together
One of the most enjoyable things in life are road trips, particularly to the Colorado mountains. Getting to spend time with your family and friends, while being in a beautiful place, is irreplaceable. The fifteen-hour road trip may feel never-ending, but gazing at the mountains from afar makes life’s problems seem a little smaller and causes worries to become a thing of the past. Coming in contact with nature, untouched, is a surreal experience. My family trip to the Colorado mountains last summer was inspiring.
The entire family got together and it was always a last minute thing but no matter what was going on we all decide we would go up to County Park Lake to have family time. There would be my grandma and my Aunts and Uncles and their kids when we pulled up to the parking lot. Under the shade trees the women would be sitting trying to stay cool and the older men of the family stand around a grill they would be sitting up the charcoal pyramid to lite to start grilling the food while the kids where at the tot lot playing the equipment you could hear the laughter of the kids playing . Also the mean talking about which is the best way to grill. The women would be laughing at the guys arguing over which way was bett...
