Spending a few weeks with my aunt was always the highlight of my summer. Rules were nonexistent with her, we could play and do as we pleased as long as we listened to her when it was serious. Once my Aunt Lisa, a teacher, was let out of school, my brother, sister, and I could not wait more than a day or two before calling and begging her to let us come over. Even though it was a four hour drive she jumped at the opportunity. The wait for her was agonizing! Our cousins, Tonya and Lee, rode with her experiencing the same anxiety. Once they arrived our excitement was at its height. We could not wait for the long ride to their home in Texas. We threw our duffle bags in her trunk and jumped in the back seat. The car ride back was very interesting …show more content…
Though we never really went to bed when we were told; we would stay up and play by a lamp so that their parents would not be able to see. Even though we never fell asleep until midnight we were woken up at 5 to go swimming before it got too hot. After Frolicking in Lake Halbrook, we would go to McDonalds and take it home. (Always getting a mighty kids meal of chicken nuggets, fries, and a Dr. Pepper.) After eating, we would take turns showering and watching movies, after a small binge of Disney, my favorite was always Cinderella. Before it got too dark, we would go outside and spend the rest of the day playing on the trampoline, tag and a few other childish games. Being outside, was the best thing, there were not any rules, like how loud we were, or no running; we were free to play as we wished. Even if we were not at home we were at the park playing outside until dark, then dragging ourselves home and eating whatever yummy food Lisa had made for us. Her specialty was lasagna, and Oh My God, it was so good! It was so cheesy, I once asked her if a whole cow was used just for our dinner. After dinner we would go right back to playing but we had to stay inside. Our favorite game to play was of course cops and robbers, Tonya and I were definitely the robber and we always got
We take them inside and then finally were on the road it only took 4 hours. Then we arrive at Sky Zone and we signed the Waivers and waited for my brothers. When they came Skyler,Riley,Domonic and I all agreed to a dodge ball against Elliot. Then about an hour and a half later I told Lori I was hungry so she bought us nachos then after that I played reality dodge ball. The last activity I did was Foam Zone. Then for late lunch early dinner we went to Red Robin.Dad had a burger that had ghost pepper sauce, jalepenos, and pepper jack chesse. Then Elliot and Skylier,Domonic Riley and I all talked on how we would run away to wherever. Then sadly very sadly we had to go home :{.On the way home we played 20 questions.Once during 20 questions Lori said she was a food I asked “are you a vegetable”she said “yes”I asked”are you green”she said “yes”then I said are you asparugus she
We would get together to celebrate usually at my parent’s house for my mom’s side of the family. At Easter we always had a ham and many side dishes. Thanksgiving always brought a delicious turkey, sweet potatoes, scalloped corn and my favorite cranberry relish. For Christmas we had a ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, glazed carrots, and for desert pumpkin pie. We always had a Christmas tree of some sort with homemade decorations that us kids made. We also celebrated my brother’s birthday since he was born on Christmas Eve. A tradition of my own was to get my parents to let me open one gift on Christmas Eve, because my brother got his birthday presents and I thought it was not
They listened to the radio, played ball or checkers. They also played with paper dolls and marbles, or played pick up sticks. They played a lot of Cowboys and Indians and or games they made up. The children also played a game called Root the Peg where they would stick a peg in the ground and you had to get it out with your mouth. My grandmother said that they also had a pocket knife, and they made up challenges you had to do with it.
And when it was time to go to bed we would go just to wake up and do it all again the next day. I mean sometimes we couldn't even wait until then next day so we just slept over. This happened millions and millions of times. Meghan brewer is my childhood and made it the best it could
I can remember traveling to my grandparents’ house for Thanksgiving, I would become so excited the week leading up to the holiday because I was finally able to see my aunts and grandparents all at the same time. We stayed the entire Thanksgiving break at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. On Thanksgiving morning, we would wake up early to watch the Macy’s Day Parade all of us, girls and kids, still in our pajamas cuddle on the floor in front of the tv. Eventually, my mom, Grandma, Aunt Lindsey, and Aunt Elexa would get up to start
Writing, is one of the most fearful and over thought piece of work. I personally, grew up struggling in writing and I had to find out how to write a “perfect” essay as I was looking forward to pursing a higher education. Throughout middle school and high school, I developed learning habits that made me write the way I write. Now writing for me is not as easy as some people think but at the same time it is not as hard as some people think if that makes sense.
When I was a Child, I have never stopped wondering what it would be to fly in the sky. I had tried to jump from sofa or bed with an opened umbrella in my hand, and imagined myself as a flying bird. As I grow up, those wonderful fantasy become faded in my brain. I still like flying, and I had experience something like helicopter tour, but never a real fly. I always have the thoughts to explore life, to experience
There once was a girl who lived a happy life until the age of thirteen. Everything changed that day because that 's when her mother started emotionally, mentally, and verbally abusing her. The girl wanted nothing more than to be loved by her mother but that was not the case. Her mother thought that she was nothing than a worthless piece of garbage on the street. Every day the girl 's mom had something negative to say to the girl whether it was that she was stupid, worthless, or even someone who nobody wanted around. Every day the girl wished to be accepted by her mother, but she knew deep down that would never happen. The girl battled anxiety and depression disorder caused by her mother 's years of torture and abusive ways. The girl was on
When the time came, we would all get together and celebrate. Christmas and Thanksgiving were the most common. For christmas we usually had a party and the only part I didn’t like about it was having to dress up fancy. I hated wearing dresses and fancy shoes but the adults insisted on all the kids getting dressed up for Christmas. During the party the adults do their own thing and so do the kids. Then we would each get to open one present that was for us under the tree. Thanksgiving was my favorite because we got to eat food. My mom and aunts let me help with cooking the food though too and that was surprisingly fun. When everything was ready the men would go eat in the living room and watch football. Most of the women and children would eat at the table because we didn't care about football. We didn’t have a kids table either, everyone would sit at a singular table. I always hear about “the kids table” in movies and other stuff. I never understood why because at my house we were never divided by
Some of my best family experiences were on family trips, but sometimes it was not in fact the activities at the place we were going but the journey there that held the learning experiences. Most of the family trips that we take are over eight hours long. There are many things that come from being in a cramped car for that long. One of which is you get bored unless you talk to other people, so that’s what you do. Sometimes you can find out a lot about a person by talking to them for that long, even people that you thought you knew completely. On one of my family trips my brother told about a time that his friend almost suffocated on a snow caving trip. It happened when they were crushing in the snow caves and it wasn’t working, then the last time that his friend tried jumping on it, the ceiling broke through and he was stuck halfway with his face buried in snow. My brother finished by tellin...
Everything for a year had been leading up to this point and here I was in the middle of the happiest place on earth in tears because my friends had abandoned me in the middle of Disney on the senior trip.
Ever since I was little I’ve been what you would call a “high achieving” kid. I did well in school, I did well in sports and I did well in my community. I was always the first one to class, and the last one to leave the field. I was the kid that all my friends’ parents compared their children to. I was the kid with a room full of trophies and awards. In my mind, the worst possible thing I could do was disappoint the people around me. In elementary school I was involved in every club imaginable. I was in the band, I played in the orchestra, I sang solos for chorus, I was in the math club, I was president of student council, I played travel soccer, I was involved in every activity possible, and I excelled in all of them. This
There are many elements in life that we find the most joy in. Some of the elements that bring me the most joy are spending time with my family, friends and helping others mostly children. The gifts and talents I have are a source of my joy. Some of those gifts and talents include my musical ability and natural connection with children. My gifts and talents also reflect on the strengths I have which include creativity, kindness and listening. Even though there are strengths, there are also a few challenges. Some of the challenges include wondering if I made the right choices and the ability to handle change. I believe when you conquer your challenges, you are able to have a more joyous life. Certain things that bring us joy and challenges that
I could "snooze" as my dad urged himself to go onward towards Arizona as he
A typical Sunday morning at my house is a little less sleep and a lot more work. It 's early when my eyes open. The first thing she tells me is, “Mija, I want you to go to the kitchen as soon as you get your clothes on.” Not even a “Good Morning.” The market’s over at the Redlands and there 's a lot of traffic at that time. It usually takes me a bit to get up. There 's a whole routine to it; she 'd yell at me so I 'm up, make me take a shower, and have me go feed and take out the dogs. I don 't even know why we have five, our house barely fits two. Nonetheless, I love them all.
