Raising a Family

Starting a family was very interesting because we were married for seven years before we had any children. For awhile we thought we weren’t going to have kids, but then we did. Within three years we went from having zero kids to three, this was from 1979 to 1981. Betty and I were used to it just being the two of us and doing things and going everywhere together, our lives changed completely in those years. At the time Betty was working as a teacher so had to stop working to take care of the kids. We were lucky that she was able to stay home and take care of them.
In those first few years, our parents started traveling to the US. Our families came pretty frequently so they could see our children, speak our language with them and get to know them. We used to go to Mendoza a lot when our kids were …show more content…

Betty is an outgoing, high-energy persona that is very involved. I’m more of a quiet person who likes to listen, but I’m still very active and have many friends like she does. We have a lot of friends, mostly because of Betty, the social part of our marriage is basically ran by …show more content…

We have deep conversations about those topics, in general we are pretty much in agreement. The biggest challenge in marriage is when you have two educated people with strong convictions and opinions in a relationship together. You have to learn how to listen and accept an opinion that is the opposite of yours and not allowing it to disrupt your marriage. That’s not just a challenge for us, but for all couples. Currently it feels like when two people don’t get along or they disagree, they immediately spilt and they may have a child too. They break up the family and I think that’s wrong. They should work on it, go to therapy, give it a good try
