Visualize waking up not knowing what each day might hold; where the unexpected is expected. Waking up to the sound of a blaring siren knowing that you’re about to put your life on the line to save someone else's. Firefighting is a very important job because you are risking everything to save the lives of strangers you encounter. I start the day off with a healthy breakfast to help me through my day. I spend most of most of my day doing tasks around the firehouse until we receive a call. During the morning hours I start off by washing the big red fire truck. I fill up the large bucket with warm water and soap. I soak the truck and apply the foamy soap to it before finally drying it and moving on to the next task for the day. We receive a panicking 911 call regarding a major house fire with three occupants trapped inside on the second level. I run into the garage and jump into my heavy boots, jacket, and overalls; I began to hear the big fire engine start up and the garage door raise up. I quickly jump into the big truck with my gear and we take off. We exit the driveway and I hear the sirens go on. Racing through the through the busy intersections and streets I see thick smoke rising into the air from a distance. We arrive to the neighborhood where the burning house and trapped people are. As we pull up there are already other fire truck and homeowners watching the burning house in horror. As I exit the truck I can see panic in everyone’s eyes and hear crying as people watch the house in flames. There was fire everywhere; the roof was on fire, fire was coming through the windows and doorways. There was a very strong smell that took over the whole street, like melted materials and scorched
