“Your writing voice is the deepest possible reflection of who you are. The job of your voice is not to seduce or flatter or make well-shaped sentences. In your voice, your readers should be able to hear the contents of your mind, your heart, and your soul.” Writing is about digging into deep thoughts and making them come alive. Writing is like magic. Writing can be a powerful weapon you use to take you places you’ve never even dreamed. Writing can take you out of this world, and make yourself become the you you’ve always wanted to be. Writing can push you to strive for bigger and better dreams in life. It can help prepare you for your future. All you have to do is write. I am a writer. I am a writer who has deep trains of thoughts that come …show more content…
The introduction to a paper is the most important thing because that’s the first thing people will see. Those are the first words your reader will glance at. They will judge the book by what they see from just taking a quick peek at your first sentence! To me, the introduction can be very intense and stressful. You have a lot of pressure for the first few words that are printed out on your paper, even when teachers are grading your paper. Being graded on a paper with a crappy introduction will be not only be in your introduction, but it will continue throughout your whole …show more content…
I have my own style of writing that I continuously use in every paper that I do, but I really don’t have just one type of writing that I like because I like all of them. I like writing about my opinions and expressing my own descriptive thoughts to my reader. I like to persuade my reader to change their mind and change their opinion through my writing. I like to inform my readers about important issues, and I also like to tell my own story. I believe sharing your own story with the world is the ultimate voice of a writer. A story that makes you want to blink twice is a story worth
I believe my introduction meets the exceptional criteria because my introduction grabs the reader’s attention creatively. I have a good thesis statement that explains what I am going to talk about in the other body paragraphs.
Whitney Otto's How to Make an American Quilt and Norman Maclean's A River Runs Through It. Many times when I write it is difficult to locate a general theme, or even a clear and precise point. Too often, my papers seem to deviate from the intentional purpose stated in the introduction. The topic and primary idea need to be effectively introduced at the beginning so that the reader knows what to look for and what to expect.
I have always had troubles writing the introduction of papers. The introduction is the base and sets the mood of the whole paper. I believe it is the most important paragraph in the paper. But once I develop the introductory paragraph, I find the rest of the paper easier to write. In order for me to better myself in writing introductory paragraphs, I just have to get more in touch with my creative side. After the rough draft, the students of the class would bring their papers to the course and would get into groups to peer review the papers. This would helpful to receive the views of our peers to help edit our assignment. After the peer review of the rough draft, the next step of the writing process was the revision. The revision was when we take the information and opinions from the groups and corporate them into our papers. Also, for the revision, you would offer work days for you to proof read our paper before we had to type our final copy. This was extremely beneficial for us to get your opinion on our paper d...
Writing is a type of art because it requires you to think and be creative in the way you want it to be. I have a diary that I wrote almost everyday. They help me think about my day and sometimes turn my bad day into a good day. I write whatever comes into my head at that moment, and reflect on my day. Writing make me think deeper to what happen and help me turn my negative thought to positive. Writing is a very powerful tool. When I write, I have the power to change the story. I am the author of my own story so I can be as creative as I want.
What is writing? This is a question that is rarely discussed among people. I believe that most people have written something at least once in their lifetime. Yet if asked this question, no one can undoubtedly explain what the word “writing” means. To me, writing is a way to express your feelings on paper. In the articles “Why I write” by Joan Didion and George Orwell, each author expresses a different opinion on what good writing is. Orwell states that a good author should not put his/her personality into their writings, “And yet it is also true that one can write nothing readable unless one constantly struggles to efface one 's own personality” (Orwell 5). Orwell believes that what makes a piece of writing exceptional is based on how interesting
The introduction should be written out word for word. Use complete sentences in your outline. The introduction should include the following:
Literature has long been an important part of human life. We express our feelings with ink and paper; we spill out our souls on dried wood pulp. Writing has been a form of release and enjoyment since the beginning of written language. You can tell a story, make yourself a hero. You can live out all your fantasies!
People write for many reasons. They write to educate, , and to entertain to express
A successful writer is he who is able to transmit ideas, emotions, and wisdom on to his readers. He is cable of stirring emotions and capturing the reader's attention with vivid descriptions and clever dialogues. The writer can even play with the meanings of words and fuse reality with fiction to achieve his goal of taking the reader on a wonderful journey. His tools are but words, yet the art of writing is found in the use of the language to create though-provoking pieces that defy the changing times. Between the lines, voices and images emerge. Not everyone can write effectively and invoke these voices. It is those few who can create certain psychological effects on the reader who can seize him (or her) with inspiring teachings, frightening thoughts, and playful games with the language. These people are true writers…
Absolutely do not start out writing the paper with the opening or ending paragraph. It is best to
In the opening paragraph of The Monkey’s Paw, Mr. White and Herbert play chess. “Father and son were at chess, the former, who possessed ideas about the game involving radical changes, putting his king into such sharp and unnecessary perils that it even provoked comment from the white-haired old lady knitting placidly by the fire.” I see a very close parallel between this quote and my life. The only difference being that I am the one who is making very risky decisions with my king! When I was younger, I distinctly remember the times when I would play chess with my dad.
For my first paper I'll talk about voice, and how it affects the conversations that we have with other people, and how we perceive certain voices to sound in stories, and other works that we read. I think that in general voice is a type of mystery, and that it is one of those things that we really can't understand. When looking at a piece of writing I think that a clear and concise voice is one of the things that makes a piece work. This is my own feeling, and it might not agree with others, but when I'm reading a story, and it is full of good stuff like conversation, and heart felt feelings, I feel that the author is able to tell me what he/she is trying to say, I think that it has a better impact on the reader compared to the writing that goes on about nothing, and seems to only have one monotone voice.
I realized that where I needed to improve the most was in my own point of view. Instead of directly writing about my point of view I pulled in other sources (which I realized now was not what the assignment wanted) and used those sources to reflect my stance on the argument of income inequality, rather than bringing in personal experience. I was confused on first comment made on my essay, asking about how important the first two sentences of my introduction were for my introduction paragraph. Now I’m just a bit lost on how to adequately start my introduction, and I feel like in Paper 2 I made the same mistake of starting off with a few sentences that I believe are introducing the topic at hand, but may feel irrelevant to the reader. Or maybe I just needed to remove those sentences all together and not add anything new, overall I was just confused on what exactly I needed to do to my introduction paragraph to enhance it.
Voice; reveals the writers personality. Sentence fluency; is the flow and rhythm of the language. Writing style helps us express whom we are- just like how we dress! For example, everyone has his or her own style. Some like button up tops, some like plain t-shirts.
“Man is an animal that lives in language as a fish lives in water and so written communication is just one of the ways that man can survive through” (English scholar Annie Dillard). Writing is a skill to give information. Like all skills, it is not inborn and so it needs to be learnt. To give information you need good communication skills including the ability to write simply, clearly and concisely (Harris & Cunningham, 1996).
