January 15, 16, 17, and 18, 2016 are the days that I want to remember for my senior year. Those few days were the 2016 unitown and Leadership Camp. This was my second year going into unitown, but this time I was going in as a counselor rather than a delegate. Going into the camp I already had an idea on what I expected because of last year but well. I was emotionally drained. First day, started off really casual and really exciting. Then, unfortunately, I had a foot injury and I had to go home. I felt like the whole world was against me when I went home, but I thought that if the world was going to go against me, I was going to fight back. Luckily, I went back the next day. I knew I wanted to be there on the second day, even though I knew
Summer term 2016 was the very first time I was considered a college student who attended Florida International University or any university for that matter. I was nervous, intimidated by the drastic changes that were about to occur in my life. As a first semester freshman I did not know what the college life held for me and did not want to. I was closed off from my surroundings and felt comfortable going from home to school and back home. It was convenient not having to be involved in all of these extracurricular activities and clubs. I would always have more than enough time to excel in my studies as I breezed through the semester with exceptional
Do you think its fair that players are credited for what they do, when cheating the game? Mark McGwire excelled at the game of baseball and got credit for all of his accomplishments, yet he cheated the game and used steroids. Babe Ruth, considered one of the greatest baseball players to play the game of baseball, who never cheated and set a great example for all who play baseball. Baseball has drastically changed over the years, especially in the cheating scandals of steroids; Babe Ruth set a great example by excelling in the sport and doing it clean, contrasting with Mark McGwire. Their existence shows how society accepted honesty and doing it the clean way in Babe’s era and how society accepts the scandals and dishonesty of Mark’s era.
exciting and thought of it like more of an adventure as it was a new
My first day there was amazing because I found out that the next day I would go see ancient Aztec pyramids, so I would definitely need to rest up for the big day. The next day came and I couldn't wait to go see the ancient pyramids. I got there in a big touristy type bus and it was packed to the brim full of people which wasn't very comfortable, however we got through it.When I got there people were trying to sell my family and I weird wooden carvings, but we said no.Then we saw it the ancient pyramids
In conclusion, the summer of 2016 and 2017 were the best summers in my life. I know that I have the dedication to complete a task that I agree to do, no matter how painful or uncomfortable it may be. I believe this strength and power will serve me well during my college years, as I work hard at my studies, face many challenges, and begin to identify a career that will bring me spontaneous and financial rewards. Somehow, I feel that the Spring Valley YMCA helped me grow up from child to adult and preparing myself for
James Baldwin’s works were influenced by the times in which he lived, as an African American writer he strove for equality and used his pen to work for civil rights through elements of his childhood among other aspects.
This year, I served as the council Secretary. Having this opportunity, pushed me to contribute as much as as possibly could to the council. In council meetings this year, I attempted to contribute as many unique and creative ideas as possible. One of the many ways I served the council this year was during the annual homecoming celebration. I helped to organize the parade lineup, and I was also in charge of the sophomore
It all started on June 2nd, 2022, It was summertime and I had just turned eighteen. Finally, my parents would let me go on a trip all by myself! I had been
Most scientists agree that humans are contributing to global warming effects around the world. The existence of the polar ice caps and the rate at which they are melting are threatened by global warming. This threat is leading scientists to use geothermal energy in our everyday lives in hopes of preserving the polar ice caps. In order for people to thinking about helping to preserve them, they need to understand polar ice caps. Because polar ice caps are melting, there are many issues occurring in our world such as natural disasters. People are impacting the melting of the ice caps but, the ice caps are also impacting people as well. One alternative to using fossil fuels is geothermal energy. Geothermal energy can change the way we use resources from the earth forever, and potentially slow the rate of global warming.
Who needed food, we saved homework for lunch, And more signatures on bathroom passes. With warm weather, like eggs, we were starting to crack, SATs, college visits, straight A‘s, Spring prom, spring break, and spring in our steps, Those minutes dragged on like days. As seniors, we’re awesome, there are none who compare, We have wit, humor, charm, looks, and class. Four years of work, winning, whining, and wrath, Are part of our glorious past!
I came with high hopes and aspirations. My hometown is not near Arizona, it is Lake Tahoe, Nevada, so going home for the weekend was simply out of the question. I had a great time for the first month, enjoying freedom. However, I was sitting in my room one night writing a paper with my roommate, and one of my friends from home called me. She said that one of her good friends from high school had just committed suicide earlier that day.
The stress level for everyone was getting higher and higher as we approached the actual day. A unexpected surprise came along. Kumu asked me to represent the island of Molokai. First thing I did was to be gregarious with my fellow island sisters and brothers which were all seniors. Honestly so much emotions were running through my body due to being the only Junior, not knowing my dances and barley knowing the people im dancing with but the worst of all is that it was a little last minute.
It was a year where the Universe had it's own master plan for me…bringing forward deep commitments and sacrifices from the Soul. Unclenching my grip, finger by finger, so I could let go of the old supports, worn-out beliefs, outmoded relationships…all of it shaking the foundations on which I formerly found my footing. It was a detailed and ultimate review of each and every facet of my life. In came the wrecking ball…dismantling structures, destroying old stories, blasting out walls…and every time the rebuild began, in came a new, stronger force that would find another structure in need of demolition.
It was in the beginning of 2010. I graduated to tenth grade, the senior year of the school. My emotions were driven by both anxiety and exultation. Since the final score in the tenth grade was a yardstick of our knowledge-gained and hard-work done throughout our schooling, all of us were concerned. However, the feeling of freedom after the tenth grade kept us elated. Those memories are quite vivid in my memory.
