Growing up there was always gory zombie movies like, World War Z and The Walking Dead, It was all fun and games because you knew you could turn the t.v off and go back to your everyday life, but what happens when the pixels on the screen become a reality? What happens when you're stuck in the position of those characters and no one's there to press the off button? You never expect it to happen to you, no one does. I mean, who would expect a zombie apocalypse? It’s an unrealistic situation that only occurs on the T.V screen and perhaps our nightmares, but never in real life, until now... It all started on June 2nd, 2022, It was summertime and I had just turned eighteen. Finally, my parents would let me go on a trip all by myself! I had been
I remember the shriek, a blood curdling shriek that tore at your eardrums. My initial thought was that someone had gotten hurt very badly but i remember everyone staring at me and i felt a presence behind me, i saw people running away and i immediately turned around to face a very pale looking man, almost like a corpse. He had blood stained teeth and dark circles around his eyes. i remember that day so clearly, it was terrifying, the man's eyes were black, pure black, and he had bite wounds up his arms, human bite wounds... i was only looking at him for a second but it felt like ages, after the second passed i remember standing up and running across to the other end of the room, everyone was running out of the cafe. Back then i didnt know what was going on but the man was a zombie, the woman that shrieked, she was his victim, i saw her on the ground that day, she was laying on the ground with bite wounds. back then i had no idea that she was going to turn into a zombie, but that woman did, she was bitten, if you get bitten then you shift into one of them. I don't know how the apocalypse started but that day was the first day anyone in ireland had ever seen a zombie. It was all over the news, every where, they kept saying get to shelter, it seemed like zombies were everywhere after that day, the virus spreaded so quickly. I remember packing my bags,i packed essentials
No electricity and a zombie apocalypse occurring. How great. i feel like i'm in an episode of revolution that crossed with the walking dead if you've ever seen those shows. I had to leave that rental car behind and start walking. it's scary being alone, makes me feel like im the only one left sometimes but that's not true, there has to be more people out there. I stopped at a local shop entering it carefully, it is really dark so I pull out that flashlight and carefully make my way to the tent section. The shop is trashed, broken glass on the ground, spiders crawling on the floors. I get back to the camping section and grab a tent and start to make my way back, but I hear a low growling noise, I shine my flashlight in the corner and see five zombies, fizz coming out of their mouths and then they start to run towards me. I shriek and sprint as fast as my legs go until I reach the outdoors. I have realized in the few days that the apocolypse has occured that zombies dislike sunlight, they are not like vampires where they turn to dust if they step outside but they do dislike the sun. I catch my breath and begin to walk to find a place to sleep for the night. I keep thinking of my family and wondering if they are okay. I called my mom three times, but she never picked up so I stopped calling because my phone is at 25 percent and this is the last time I will ever be able to use it unless to power decides to magically come back
Despite there being hundreds of video game releases every year, most of these games are unoriginal and therefore unplayable. There are countless video game genres, but one of the most popular genres in the past few years have been the zombie games, also called survival games. I was thoroughly convinced that all the games in this genre were clichéd and overdone, until I played the video game The Last of Us. Even though it is a survival game, the focus is not on gruesome zombies or gratuitous violence, making it already vastly different from the others. Instead, the focus is on telling a story. Between the gorgeous graphics, serene music, and flawless acting, it already goes beyond being just another “zombie game,” but this isn’t even accounting
We are in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. Every time we hit “retweet,” a bullet is shot through a zombie’s head. Each email we delete is another zombie down. Finishing last night’s haul of homework is surviving a whole mob of zombies. This is the picture that Chuck Klosterman paints in his article published in The New York Times, “My Zombie, Myself: Why Modern Life Feels Rather Undead.” Having published many books and essays concerning pop culture, Klosterman attempts to uncover the reason why zombies are so popular right now. He concludes that their popularity is a result of the current zombie-like state of our society. Killing zombies is repetitive, and it is no different from the monotonous tasks we engage in every day. Although Klosterman’s claim that zombies are popular because they are relatable is an interesting view, he does not bother to consider a more optimistic perspective: that zombies are popular because they are unrelatable.
Although the zombie metaphor focuses primarily on fear involving unconscious contributors and their mission of adding to their population, the fear of governmental control and how society responds to the epidemic is also an issue that needs to be considered. In this scenario, the viral outbreak is not only a threat to individual health but also to the stability of society as a whole.
“Zombie killings are similar to reading and deleting 400 work e-mails on a Monday morning or filling out paperwork that only generates more paperwork, or following Twitter gossip out of obligation, or performing tedious tasks in which the only true risk is being consumed by avalanche” (41). These are all similar to zombie killings because zombies will never go away unless you turn to really harsh tactics like aiming for one’s brain with a shot gun and repeating this for every zombie you come in contact with. In order to clear those 400 emails after reading them you must repeat the steps for each and every one, which is time consuming and can be very frustrating. Completing paperwork is very tedious, and can sometimes become overwhelming you may begin to feel as if it will never end which is common well it can feel similar to that when it comes to zombie killings as well because there will be one zombie followed by another one and many more to come. “Battling zombies is like battling anything….. Or everything” (42). Never assume the war is over because it is not, there will be one or more zombies hiding out, the war is never over. “The zombies you kill today will merely be replaced by the zombies of tomorrow” (44). Zombies are a “live-stock” they are brain dead but they travel in packs and have no limit as to how far they will go. In the movie Dawn of the Dead the zombies actually
IT's hard to be a peasant during this Plague! Everybody is dying off, my friends and the older people, even innocent infants. It stinks of death everywhere I go, and we can leave or our lord will kill us. My mom is sick and no one likes her because they think she has he Plague It could be me next, who knows.
For most people, becoming a parent is one of the greatest moments in their lives. I never understood the true meaning of love until I became a father. Little did I know; I would also learn the tragedy of loss.
Ok. One night my sister and I were at my father’s house. He lives in Kingsville on 10 maybe 9 acres of land in this [small pause, looks at ceiling] I wouldn’t really call it a farmhouse, just a kind of small house out there. The previous person who lived in the house was supposedly shipped to an asylum, for, you know, normal stuff [pause] schizophrenic or something. My sister and I were at the house one night and we were cleaning up the house while my dad was on some sort of job out of the state and my step mom was at work in the hospital. We were doing our stuff, and then the power flickered, and came back on. We didn’t think anything of it. Then, outside of the door, we heard a noise, kinda like a dog barking, but like, just enough not so that we knew it wasn’t. So, we hear this noise, and start to get fre...
I woke up about 9 o'clock. As usual I turned on the TV. I saw a terrible image of one tower and a lot of smoke was coming out of it. Still not realizing what was happening, I went to another room to pack my stuff in order to go to college. At this time I was thinking that it was just a regular fire and nothing serious. When I got on the bus I saw unusual commotion among people. I could feel panic and fear among people. I wanted to use my cell phone to call my friend to find out if he’s ok, but it did not work.
It was just a normal day. I was living at home with only me, John, and my mom. My dad had died trying to protect the village from a wild animal from the forest. My mom wanted me to go to the market and get some food. So I did. As I made it to the market I could see all of the things being traded. I went to were the food was being traded and traded some stuff for some food. As returned home I noticed a couple of strange voices I didn’t notice. I walked into the house. It got dead silent. Then all last I heard were gunshots until everything went black.
As I lay there stuck I hear the sirens coming from down the road. “What happened” I asked myself. “Are my friends ok” my head started to spin. “BEEEEEEEEEP” I wake up laying in a small hospital bed, what is that noise. As I turn my head to the right I see my friend Maddie laying their hooked up to a lot of machines. The beeping wouldn't stop everyone was panicking before anyone even realized I was awake Maddie was rushed out of the room.
Nothing could be worst than your dad bringing up "THE CONVERSATION." Starting at age 5 I loved playing soccer, running up and down the field, making moves and kicking balls to the back of the net was always the way to go. Soccer meant the world to me and especially playing with my best friends since the day I started. My days would go something like this, go to school, get home,do homework then get ready and go to a beautiful fun day at soccer! After soccer I would go home sit on the couch and eat.I was a lazy one. That's why I hoped my dad would never ever bring up this conversation.... But he did anyways.
The garish sun illuminated the sky, and in the horizon there was a faint figure gallivanting through the fields, my sister. No place anywhere else in the world lies more peace and serenity than in the suburbs of Reykjavik, Iceland, a place full of wonders and where a zombie apocalypse is never a possibility. For this reason alone my sister and I had settled here in the suburbs after our parents had passed away back in Vienna. Post mortem indicated that they had died of a heart attack, “presumably old age had taken the best of them”, they had said, but my sister and I knew the hospital staff and the Vienna troopers weren’t conveying the truth behind my parents death. I had seen the zombie myself in quarantine surveilled by the Vienna state troopers
Do you have a interesting story about something that has happened to you? Well, I sure have one. This event may be enjoyable for you, but it definitely was not for me! This event is the most scary thing that has happened to me. I never thought this scary incident would give me a good lesson.
One day a little girl who lived in the Lehigh valley her whole life found out some news that was going to change her life forever, I was that little girl. It was the summer of 2011 and I was at Brookside Country Club a place that I spent most of my summer. I was eating dinner with my family after a long day of swimming with my friends. We had just ordered dessert and my dad told my brother and I to go in the parking lot and wait for him because he had something to tell us. At this moment I was scared I thought to myself oh no someone in my family had passed away. My dad came outside smiling so I soon realized it wasn’t something sad. I look at my older brother hoping his facial expression would help me come up with how I should be acting.
When I was seven years old I went on my very first holiday abroad, to
