IT's hard to be a peasant during this Plague! Everybody is dying off, my friends and the older people, even innocent infants. It stinks of death everywhere I go, and we can leave or our lord will kill us. My mom is sick and no one likes her because they think she has he Plague It could be me next, who knows.
Andy was the first, in our group to have the Plague. His little sister got sick first and so now his mom says he's bedridden too. After that, Ruth was gone with in days. And this morning Micheal woke up with a fever. Ruth and Micheal both were vomiting and now I feel like it too because the next door neighbors' smells of death.
This whole village reeks of death. The next door neighbors' mother passed away after seven long days of battling
the plague. Everybody is too scared to Nobody has been in there to clean her corpse since. I don't blame them, I don't want to get sick either. It could be me next though. I don't want to go through that, I've seen Ruth and my mom have to go through tht pain. The fever, the boils, I hate! Well, what's the point? It would be better than having to live through this disgust. Maybe it's best if I die as well! My friends, mom, and the other villagers. The stench is enough to overpower all the dung piles on the manor. If it were me next, I don't think I would mind, all my friends and family are dead anyways. If I don't die from the plague, then I'll die from madness.
After the death of her brother, Werner, she becomes despondent and irrational. As she numbly follows her mother to the burial
...ls, chiming their ominous message. The village women, perhaps the first to realize the horrible gravity of the situation, weeping, bared their souls as they walked with sorrowful hearts to the cemetery. The religious procession, with their full regalia and stoic expressions, belied the emotions that were surely heavy laden. Their slow, methodical pilgrimage hinted that they were beginning what would ultimately be a funeral procession. The brave young men, escorted by their elder counterparts, were led to their slaughter much like sacrificial lambs. The fact that they were escorted sends the message that they were truly doomed, much like prisoners being led to their executions.
The years 1348 through 1350 had been an extremely gruesome and miserable time in our world’s history. During this time period, one of the most devastating pandemics in history had struck half the world with an intensifying and deadly blow. It had been responsible for over 75 million deaths and 20 million of these deaths were from Europe alone. Out of the countries that were hit hardest in Europe from mortality rates and economic downturns, England was one of them. This grave disease that marked the end of the middle ages and the start of the modern age is known as the Black Plague.
Families abandoned families and therefore the home’s unity was corrupted. Why could national and local institutions not adequately handle the crisis? No one understood the disease. They thought it spread through un-pure air, but that was an uninvestigated hunch. The victims, cities, and doctors also had inadequate knowledge of the human body, how it worked, and how the plague itself spread and worked.
In 1300, multiple out breaks of the Black Plague arised. For example, in the thirteenth century an outbreak in China killed one third of the population. Several dates before this time showed the disease was present years ago in Europe. Dying from the Plague was scary to most people and Jordan Mcmullin, an author stresses, “Whenever the Plague appeared the sadness of death was terrifying” (Mcmullin n.pag.). Death has always been frightening, but when a country plagues with disease, death becomes a terrible fear, the Plague scared the people of 541, and 542, when their outbreak of the Plague spread. Therefore, while other outbreaks of the Black Plague took place, the fourteenth century outbreak in Europe was certainly the worst.
The plague, caused by an infectious fever, has a gruesome and terrible story. This disease was the cause of the Black Death, which killed one third of Europe’s population in the 14th century, and killed around 75,000-100,000 citizens in London. Over 25 million citizens died during this time, leaving both an economic and political management in desperate times. The plague that affected European cities has been considered to be one of the worst epidemics in the Medieval Time.
One of the groups that suffered the most was the Christian Church. It lasts prestige, spiritual authority, and leadership over the people. The church promised cures, treatment, and an explanation for the plague. They said it was God's will, but the reason for this awful punishment was unknown. People wanted answers, but the priests and bishops didn't have anything to say. The people abandoned their Christian duties and fled. People prayed to God and begged for forgiveness. After the plague ended, angry and frustrated villagers started to revolt against the church, this caused the churches to be abandoned.
The people in Europe were scared and terrified of the plague coming to their village or infecting them. The villages after some time of having the virus would have a crier announcing the day’s death toll. The people that were infected were sometimes shunned wherever they went, not many people would help them. The people that have already died would be immediately moved to the graveyard. The Black Plague lasted for a longer period than any other disease, leaving behind a huge amount of dead bodies that earth could not decompose quickly. The lives of the villagers were rough just by seeing their relatives dying in their homes but also to seeing people die in the streets. What scared the villagers most was the ghost ship, that was filled with rats and fleas and they were also filled with the bodies of the dead sailors that round it. Some people believed that the plague was a punishment from God for the sins that they have committed or that the infected people have
The Middle Ages are known for its abundant amount of deaths from plagues and wars. Let’s first look at what happened particularly in Europe during these Middle Ages. In 1347 the Bubonic Plague, otherwise known as the Black Death, arrived in Italy. The disease caused bulbous growths and sores filled with pus to appear on the body. It made victims of the illness look like “a skeleton, with black and blue splotches” (Friedlander) stained onto the face. Friedlander also stated that within two years, the plague had slaughtered “over 20 percent of the population of Europe.” This disease spread like a forest fire across the country and killed a total of 75 million people, almost 50% of Europe’s overall population. In addition to this, the smallpox epidemic swept through Paris, France and killed 50,000 individuals in 1438, most of whom were children. According to Friedlander this disease was a “virus that spreads from person to person, by touch or through breathing or coughing.” The danger level of the sickness fluctuated between people and their immune systems, some being as deadly as or even deadlier than the bubonic plague, and showed no mercy on smal...
The Narrator’s family treats her like a monster by resenting and neglecting her, faking her death, and locking her in her room all day. The Narrator’s family resents her, proof of this is found when the Narrator states “[My mother] came and went as quickly as she could.
The “plague” is known as the “Yersinia pestis” bacteria, which is a rare zoonotic disease. These diseases are spread from animal to human (Newquist 239, Adamloakun M.D. 718). The bacterium lives in rodents such as rats and is carried by fleas (Newquist 238). When the fleas bite humans, the bacterium spreads.

The bacteria itself can clog small blood vessels, causing them to burst. The waiting period for the plague is about one to three days, just to show symptoms, soon dead within forty-eight hours. The disease is a major depopulator. Just in Europe did it kill one-third of their population, meanwhile completely destroying two-thirds of China’s population, and decimating many Muslim towns. The disease flared and raged so quickly there wasn’t enough time to bury all the dead, so they mainly waited until the end and held a large memorial service.

Plague is a deadly infectious disease (ZOONOTIC DISEASE) caused by a gram negative bacterium Yersinia pestis. Plague is a disease that affects humans and other mammals. The bacteria are mainly found in rats and in the fleas that feed on them. Plague is transmitted to humans or other animals from rats and fleas bite that is carrying the plague bacterium, scratches from infected animals, inhalation of aerosols or consumption of food contaminated with the plague bacterium i.e. Yersinia pestis. In the past, plague destroyed entire civilization; no disease has impacted civilization as deeply as the plague did in Egypt, Europe, and Asia during Middle Ages. As many as 200 million people have died from this disease.
