What I discovered about myself, is that I have a personality type of a “protagonist”. The “Protagonist” basically describes myself adequately, as they find it easy to communicate with others, natural born leaders, and are full of charisma. All of those characteristics tie in to the type of skill and job that I soon want to be possessed in. That job and skill lies in the Marketing field. My attraction draws to this specific job because I am an outgoing person, persuasive, and use my creativity to the best of my ability. I have always questioned the things people do, such as “Why do people purchase they things they do?” and “What inspires and influence consumer purchase behaviors?”. All of this falls under Marketing, which plan programs to generate …show more content…
The tasks listed, reflects my passion for Marketing, as I can see myself working for a business and operating my creativity for their advertising ideas and persuading the consumer base that our product and/ or service is what they should be interested in. To many, Marketing Managers evaluate the demand for products and services that their organization and its competitors offer, but it’s more than that, Marketing goes beyond its pictures, viral videos and branding, you have to embrace and take advantage of technology to be effective and make the most money.

The most common one I noticed, is that some companies avoid having a marketing plan. In order to compete, you have to have a marketing plan to present your organization to the market. The absence of the marketing plan, creates a weak advertising campaign to deliver to the target audience. Some companies think they already know what their customers want, that is a misconception itself, and companies should beware not to follow that route. Businesses should do customer research to take an approach on what their customers really want and why they choose to buy from them. Also another misconception is, businesses feel they need not to be on social media. Social media is the basis nowadays for advertising and marketing your product and services, and matter of fact, the addition of social media to your company gains you more customers. Your social media outlet is an easy way for the business to see what they customers want, how they feel about you, what they expect from the future products and services, and they can give you feedback. In Marketing, you have to be careful of misreads. You can announce the addition of a new product line and not realize that your customers were happy with the product that you’ve been producing and they have been buying for years. Marketing tests your ability to analyze and make the right creative

Marketing is that broad area of business activity that directs the flow of services provided by the carrier to the customer in order to satisfy customers’ needs and wants and to achieve company objectives. Marketing also involves the finance activities such as credit and collection that are associated with ticket sales. Marketing is customer oriented…Without marketing and sales, there would be no airlines. (p. 274)
My love for business is not something I was born with. It took over a decade of experience and exploration to discover my passion. This discovery began ten years ago when I accepted a position at The Pitney Bowes Corporation. My job was to make unsolicited phone calls to prospective businesses in order to sell our base model postage meter. All that was required was reading a script, word for word, to potential buyers. Yet, after a week of working at Pitney Bowes, I still didn't know important details about the meter, like what it looked like, and how it actually operated. My manager acted a bit surprised when I asked to see the meter, but she agreed, and I took a walk to an adjacent building where I saw first hand what I was selling. It looked completely different from what I had expected, but by viewing and touching it first hand, my ability to convey to people what I was offering improved dramatically. Once I viewed the device, I felt more confident to adlib on the sales pitch. In a couple of weeks reading my hybrid pitch led to a higher rate of sales. People were more apt to buy from someone who sounded like a person and less like a robot. My sales steadily improved and in my third month I was the number one sales person out of over 200 employees. Management implemented some of my changes in the selling process and as a result, overall sales of the entry model postage meter increased significantly.
2. What personality characteristics are likely required for this career? How does you own personality match/not match?
My passion for the fascinating wolrd of science literally can not be put into words. Since receiving my first home science kit at five years of age the way things work and why has always been at the forefront of my mind. During my early years I would find great delight in examining anything I could fit under the lens of my telescope. I will never forget my first look at the intricate detail of a human hair.
In spite of the rigors associated with a career in marketing the outlook for the profession is bright. Marketing is a vital necessity not only for business firms, but is also needed and utilized by governments, educational, religious, social service, and nonprofit organizations or institutions. Perhaps the most alluring aspect of a career in marketing is the fact that it provides a great number and variety of job opportunities, and can offer opportunities to both number crunchers as well as intuitive creative people as well.
As shown in Figure 1 there are many different definitions for Marketing. The key is that they all share a common theme, marketing is: “Meeting the needs and wants and providing benefits for customers.”
b. Marketers can explore what each customer wants and tailor the marketing processes to meet those needs.
There are many different job descriptions when being a marketing manager that would want some to become one. Usually when someone is a marketing manager they are creative in many ways than one. “Their day-to-day tasks include managing and coordinating marketing and creative staff, leading market research efforts to uncover the viability of current and existing products/services, and liaising with media organizations
The second component of the profile is Intuitive and this entails seeing into the future and being optimistic about what the future holds. Apart from this, I noticed that I love acquiring new skills as my work or life demands of me- all geared towards been better, relevant and efficient in whatever I am involved in. What this means for my academic is that am always open to learn about new subjects including those that are not related to my course of study provided I am able to see the benefit they offer either now or in the nearest future. The third component of my profile is “Thinking” which involves making decisions based on rationale and logic rather than emotions. Often times, our emotions are not aligned with the realities of life and we are often divided between making decisions that are logically right or emotionally pleasing to us (Tolliver, 2007). The implication of being a “thinker” is that I am able to override and put my emotions under and make decisions based on the facts on ground. This makes me suitable for the business world because logical decisions are very effective and productive compared with decisions borne out of emotions. Finally, “Judging” is the last
Anybody that knows me knows that my passion and goals in life have to deal with fashion. If I could be anything in this world I would love to be a designer of some sort or at least be in the industry. When it comes to clothing and style it just comes easy one of the easiest things I’m good at. Fashion is an art form it allows you to express your view on style anyway you choose. And to me I feel like nobody has the right to judge that. Style hasn’t always come easy to be though just like everything else it takes time and practice it’s still a work in progress. When I look back to my middle school and early high school years I wonder deeply about my choices, middle school had to have been the worst. I was going through a colored jeans faze, I would wear bright yellow, honey mustard yellow, sky blue, purple, and pink. If somebody were to name a color I probably had jeans that color. It gets worse though because I would have the worst possible combination choice of shoes to go along with a matching bead necklace and bracelet set, followed by a grey or navy blue uniform shirt. It’s clear I had no idea what I was doing the best part is I was being myself and that’s all that matters. No matter how much I think my style has grown I’m only human and will look back and probably wonder why I wore the outfit I’m wearing sitting here writing this essay.
Personality traits can be manifested as strengths or weaknesses depending on the situation, and personality tests can help individuals maximize strengths and minimize weaknesses within the organizational structure. Organizational behavior is critical to organizational effectiveness, and these tests can also point individuals toward certain careers or organizations that are good fits. It involves the vital process of researching, promoting and offering products or services to a company’s target market. Marketing is an important business process where the company can inform, attract and convince people that its products or services are of value to them. Without Marketing, many businesses would be unable to exist or operate well in the market. They could offer the most amazing product or service in the market, but if nobody knows about its existence or understands its value, these companies are unable to make a single sale thus they may have to be out of
According to Kotler (2012), Marketing is about identifying and meeting human social needs, thus it is not only about advertising and promotion it is more than this. It includes setting competitive price, communicating effectively with potential and existing customers and also introduction of new products.
Passion for Family, Community, Business, Technology and Intellectual growth are what motivate me on the daily basis.
