I have improved in my strengths that I was aiming for prior the residency program. A hospital setting calls for an open-minded professional to build critical thinking and decision-making skills as well as learning something new each passing day. My strengths have gradually improved. I improve in delegation and how and when it needs to be given. Delegation of tasks is in the best interest of patient safety and when overwhelmed it is acceptable to ask for assistance will make it easy to work as a team in offering better health care services and better patient outcomes. One of my best strengths is that I am comfortable interacting with patients. I am very compassionate about caring for my patients and making them happy. When patients are in the hospital they are at their weakest moment and it’s our job as caregiver to give them the best optimal care.

I now have a positive attitude in my skills and knowledge and a confident attitude to care for patients. I improve in my prioritization and assessment skills. I feel more comfortable speaking to doctors, family members and other care givers. I also improve in bedside reporting. I improved in getting report from the off-going nurse to giving report to the on-coming nurse. I learned that communication is key when doing patient care. Good communication skills are good to have because you are talking with different people involve in patient care. As the nurse, I notice that everyone comes to you to ask you about a patient. Once you get report you are in charge of that patient and the care provided. A nurse is communicating with doctors, family members, transport service, physical therapy, social worker, case managers, and the list goes on. I still need to work on my communication skills and be more confident when I speak but I did notice improvement from the first day of residency to
