Reading develops imagination from the earliest stages of childhood, fosters empathy, and establishes the foundation for lifelong learning. Reading habits are vital in shaping perception of the world, fostering imagination, and fostering a sense of self. In addition to storytelling, these colorful and imaginative stories provide a child with a solid foundation for learning language and developing cognitive skills. As children, we are often shaped by the stories we encounter, the characters we meet, and the worlds we explore within the pages of books. Our reading habits during these formative years can reveal significant insights into our interests, values, and even our future paths. As a child I always thought reading was not exciting and often did not care to ever pick up a book, not realizing that I just had not found the right one that sparked my personal interests. Once I was able to find a novel that did I realized I had extreme curiosity and this allowed for new gains of knowledge and understanding for myself. My childhood books also helped me understand different people and experiences. They showed me how to deal with social expectations, fight against prejudice, and appreciate diversity. Reading about a variety of characters made me feel more capable and confident, knowing that my voice can make a difference and create positive change. I realized that I am not the only one going through certain tough times in life and that there are a lot of people in the same shoes as myself. Knowing this as a child reading literature made me see that I am not alone and there are lots of people going through the same situations, or
