My Greatest Accomplishments

The first time I realized that I was willing to work as hard as humanly possible to achieve my goals was sometime in the summer of 2016. I was always a determined person. Ever since I was a kid I would set small goals for myself and when I would reach said goals, I would give myself some sort of reward. For example, when I was in the sixth grade, I stumbled upon the Harry Potter book series. They had caught my attention for about a year, but I was never as interested in them as I was when I had set this goal for myself. I decided to not allow myself a second of digital entertainment until I had finished reading the entire series. It only took me roughly two weeks, but for an eleven-year-old, that was an extremely long time to have that much restraint. I did not stray from my task and certainly did not break the one rule I had, which was to not watch television or play on handheld devices until I had finished reading the last book. I was determined to complete every bit of summer work I had before I even thought about going to the beach or hanging out with my friends and family. Having set a goal for myself to complete four large art pieces and dozens of smaller pieces before I allowed myself to enjoy my summer, the way almost all of my classmates were, helped me immensely. Summer vacation was about two months and two to three weeks long, so if I wanted to spend most of my summer at the beach I had to complete my artworks in a month or less.
