My experiences during my time at Woonsocket High School and the Woonsocket-Area Career and Technical Center has helped me in many ways in learning new things or creating personal experiences that will help me understand certain things better. My high school education has contributed to my personal growth because it helped me realize who I was by my past experiences. It has helped me learn how to interact with others, to give them respect, how to provide knowledge in order to enlighten someone or to state my own opinion and to learn how to be myself. It has also enhanced my sense of community because the National honors Society at the Woonsocket High School has taught me to help the community. Volleyball and other clubs have also taught me …show more content…
Because of IT/ Tech Game Design at WACTC, it has helped me realize what I love to do and what type of subject I want to partake in college. The subject that I wish to learn more about and that interests me is computer science. Also, the Woonsocket High School and WACTC have given me the opportunity to meet others that are different and to make new friends that have different interests. This helps me to become more of a well- rounded person because of how many diverse people that attend Woonsocket High School and WACTC. Also my experience at here has helped me become a more responsible individual now than I was three years ago when I was a freshman because I realized to be trustworthy and to help others in need because then they will respect you. Also, I learned that in order to be responsible I need to be serious and to focus on the stuff that is most important to me like my studies. Now in my junior year I realize that you need to stop making excuses for things that you could have done and to take responsibility for the actions that you have made and to admit that you made a mistake. I also realized that I needed to stop thinking that everyone is out to make me fail or to make me look bad and I just had to realize that I need to accept what I cannot control. For example, in Volleyball for my …show more content…
The NHS has helped me to give me opportunities to help others in need. I was also able to be the public relations officer which makes me help others to find other service projects and to show the other NHS members how many hours they owe or what service projects. The community service projects have given me the opportunity to meet new people and to assist others that need help. I have also participated in volleyball which showed me to support others even though they are winning or losing. Volunteering has taught me more about my community because with the NHS, I get to participate in something that I would not have been given the chance if I was not in it. I get to meet different types of people and to learn how to help others and to work together with someone I may not even know that very well. For example, one time in the NHS I was given the chance to do a service project at a nursing
I take it as my duty to help, serve, be an uplifting power and example for others in my community. When I do serve and help others the only payment I receive is the pleasure and satisfaction of helping others who need it. Serving other people by going to Casa Feliz and donating seafood every once in a while with my family to the nursing home in La Ceiba has made me eager to dedicate more of my time to them as I have enjoyed being able to help them one way or another. I know that being a member of the NHS will help me to contribute more in this
NHS will offer me many opportunities for to give back to the community. One of my favorite memories in community service was visiting the elderly. We sang songs for them, cooked food, and had conversations with them and I loved it. With NHS I know that I will be continuing to help others in our community.
...ecause it gave me an opportunity to hear the perspective of other health care professionals that are not in the same field as me. I also got to learn what role each health care professional could contribute to the Triple Aim goal. Also, this experience would make it easier for me to work with other professionals during my course of study and after I graduate because I have been a little exposure to what it is going to be like discussing and trying to figure out ways we can contribute to the Triple Aim goal together as a team.
In the past, I have volunteered for our bands fundraiser every Christmas, which we host at our high school. It is a unique moment in time, to see the joy of children's faces as they walk into the school that morning for Breakfast with Santa. Being able to put on a performance for those children that morning brings joy to my heart and keeps me coming back each year. Another event is the Special Olympics held in Houghton Lake. Students from our school every year go and help setup and run the Special Olympics. Helping out and getting to talk to participants is an honor and has created new relationships with people. I want to be able to give even more back to my wonderful community through the National Honor Society by volunteering and helping as much as I can. Meeting new people, and helping them in ways that can change their life can have a permanent effect on one's self, and NHS opens that
It was the tremendous amount of arguments amongst my parents over our tight financial debt, which taught me how to manage, respect, and organize money responsibly during my junior year. It was the numerous divorce arguments I heard from my bedroom walls, which taught me that love is not only demonstrated through words, but through actions. It was the death of my favorite cousin, my best friend, Suleiman, which caused me, to be thankful and joyous for every day I have on this Earth. I never knew the happenings in one year could impact my future. It was the social pain of junior year that taught me to be my true self and embrace my suppressed self.
Finally, I learned how to be more responsible by myself. In my last classes, my teachers were technically always there to tell me step by step what to do and how to do my assignments. In a certain way, it made me kind of lazy and entirely dependent of my teachers. However in this course it was not like that; instead, my instructor just gave me the assignments, instructions, and deadlines, and I must write my essays and summited it on time. This absence of guide absolutely made me to react that it was time to me to do my assignments by myself, demonstrate what I know, and ask for help just whenever it is
Why I want to volunteer I am directionless. Lost in a sea of people; people who all seem to know what they want to do with their lives. Volunteering can help me find a direction, a path that I want to be on. Assisting patients and workers provides more information on working in a hospital than any course or the internet can provide.
In addition to my work experience, I have completed a 14 day trip to Malaysian Borneo to carry out aid work. This involved helping the local community to build clean water tanks and refurbish their homes. I was able to build relationships with members of the team to reach our common goal. This gave me a positive belief in my own ability while operating in an unfamiliar environment. This experience also helped me to foster my ambition to help
During the summer of my high school years, I volunteered in various areas of the hospital to get a glimpse of which parts I was most interested in. My first year volunteering, I was placed in the Cardiovascular unit. I was given the opportunity to speak to patients getting ready for testing or treatment. I learned about the importance of patient interaction and what things to say or not to say. Not only that, but I learned more about the tests
Over the four years that I have spent at Good Counsel, I became part of many activities. Each helping me evolve as a person and become stronger yet. Simple lists could be made of every activity that I have ever been involved in but it could never express to a person what I have learned and how it helped me to grow. Every environmental club, science club, political science club, service work, and S.A.D.D. club I was part of had a very special message to deliver to me. Whether the message was one of responsibility, or a life lesson, I grew from it. The Political Science club opened me to many new experiences. It allowed me the chance to attend the Model U.N., where I was asked to address today's top world issues. This club was very beneficial to me because I was exposed to topics and ideas that I had not previously been able to discuss or learn about in a classroom situation. The science club allowed for me to experience extra educational situations as well. I took part in a hovercraft competition, which was very educational while also allowing me the chance to work with others for a common goal.
When I first started getting involved in community service, it was simply to fulfill my obligations for NHS and the other service organizations I was involved with. I was ignorant of the fact that service activities are needed in the community. Not only that, they can be both fulfilling and helpful to the beneficiaries of the service.
My High School life has helped shape the way for my college experiences that I will face. My senior year in high school is not the same as many other high school students. I am taking many advanced classes to help me prepare for college. These classes help me better understand exactly how much harder I must work to succeed.
As you finish up your sophomore year and begin your journey through junior and senior year there will be many decisions that you will have to make. Also on your journey through your junior and senior year you will have to be more responsible, gain more power, have more freedom, and see your true potential. As you become more responsible, gain more power, have more freedom, and see your true potential you should consider this quote “Watch your thoughts, they become your words; Watch your words; they become your actions; Watch your actions; they become your habits; W...
You learn how to talk to people, and get to know a stranger. You get a breath of fresh air every summer. If you have a steady career but you do not get along with your supervisors, or coworkers, you must resolve the issue or see each other every day and
I was able to overcome many problems and challenge myself in different aspects. At the very beginning of the year, I was very sensitive and having a bad experience meant a bad life to me. Later on, I started to realize what I am doing in school, and why I am here… I understood that life without ups and downs means you're died.
