Seasonal Salary Every summer Atlantic Beach sees an influx of tourists, causing every business on the beach to see a demand for seasonal employees. Most businesses along the coast receive very little business, if any, when these four summer months pass. Jobs start to decrease along with the business as these people start to retreat home. As someone who has held seasonal jobs for four years, I prepare myself every summer for what I know is about to happen. When seasonal jobs see the end of their rush employees must worry about paycheck deductions, how to manage their money, time, and people skills. Working every day for at least six hours a day presented me with about three hundred dollar pay checks every week. However, when the rush of people …show more content…
However, when your hours start to dwindle, you must start thinking about what you spend your money on. After the summer season, I tend to budget myself. Exactly how much you have to budget depends on whether or not you can find another job to get you through the winter. Because I always know when my paychecks end, I save up as much as I can over the summer. One thing I do not think most people my age understand is how to budget money. You cannot spend all of your money as you make it. What happens when it is only December and you have spent all of your savings from the past summer? If you cannot find another job, you are left with no income or savings until the upcoming …show more content…
You should get along with the people you have to work so closely with, and I did, in most cases. When you work with someone almost every day for three to four months, you form a relationship. After the few months of working however, you might never see each other again. In this small town, of course I see a few people that I used to work with, but over half of my coworkers are always from different cities across the state. Even if it is disappointing, there is a positive to this constant rotation of coworkers. You learn how to talk to people, and get to know a stranger. You get a breath of fresh air every summer. If you have a steady career but you do not get along with your supervisors, or coworkers, you must resolve the issue or see each other every day and
the many things that can be learned from it, instead of looking at it passively. You grow
This budget includes taxes and health insurance. Every month, I have budgeted to spend $200 on groceries, $100 on a cellphone, $50 on clothes, $50 on gas, $80 on cable, and $35 on entertainment every month. I also have to spend $865 on student loans, $860 on my mortgage, and $275.97 on my car. At the end of the month, I will have about $2814.66 dollars left over. This surprised me because I thought that I was spending a lot on all of the components going into my monthly spendings. Considering all of the extra money that I have, i think that i should put more money into entertainment because chances are I will spend a lot more hanging out with friends, etc. If I didn’t have much money left over at the end of the month, I may not get cable and instead get netflix. I may also spend less on going out to eat every month. I think that I spend a reasonable amount of money on each of the categories
The advantages spans from socializing to watching kids grow through school. Being around high school students sounds like a lot of fun, not only being around students but also the faculty members (Baccadutre). A major advantage, if one likes sports, is being able to watch the students play in their games or matches. Seeing them grow would be a great feeling and knowing that someone is there to help (Baccadutre). One the other side of this, there is, of course the disadvantages.
• Not budgeting is one of the most overlooked financial mistakes. You need to know exactly how much money comes in and out at least on the weekly basis. To explain, you must find out exactly how much money you bring home, separate the money in categories to cover those expenses and finally stick with the plan.
As freshmen, we realized the athletic competition was better, and there was multiple different clubs we could join. The classes we could take got harder, and we had just switched to a one-to-one curriculum, so this meant everyone received a laptop. This is also when I set my goal of keeping a 4.0 GPA all throughout high school. These were opportunities I did not think about when I first found out I was moving. The clubs and the sports gave my classmates and myself a chance to make friends with the three grades above us. Our class slowly drifted apart as we branched out and made new friends in different grades. Our sophomore and junior year was similar to my freshman year. We stayed in our different groups as we continued to explore our interests. Junior year came along with many different changes. Because there were very few senior girl athletes, the junior class had the opportunity to take the role as leaders on the court and on the field. Underclassmen looked up to the juniors for leadership and advice. This opportunity helped change me as a person. I had to show the underclassmen what hard work looked like, and what it took to be successful. This opportunity also made me realize how hard I had to work if I wanted to continue to be successful in athletics and eventually play college volleyball. My junior year also provided my classmates and I with the opportunity to take
It was only fourth grade, when I purchased my first flat screen TV. Impressive, right? Saving money is one of the smartest decisions I established as a kid; now that I have a job, the subsequent rewards are continuously multiplying. At only sixteen with my current hours and no direct bills, the money accumulated. Although, at this age there are many materialistic things I desire. Could you imagine a young teenager with spending power? Proudly, that is not me. From that first TV as a reward for saving, an exponential income did not affect my notion. Just recently I purchased a car all by myself, simply because I avail the power in saving money. This aspect is now part of my personality, and its reward will only progressively
From an economics point of view, I recently got my first real job. I was given a contract, I was put on a salary, and even received good healthcare. I was ecstatic and I couldn't believe that I finally took the first big step in my life. After a while, I began to spend more money on unnecessary things. Getting my nails done every week, getting my hair done at nicer salons, eating out more and buying nicer clothes.
After attending my summer orientation, I started to adjust to the idea of college life a little bit more. I met new people, got to know a new area, and overall became more acquainted with the life I would be living for the next couple of years. Overall, orientation made college a reality for me.
The majority of people prefer to foster workplace relationships. Befriending your coworkers can lead to a more enjoyable work week, increase social status, and even possibly lead to
Understand that in friendship, friends are equal but this is not the case for boss-worker relationship. The boss is up there for a reason just like the employees are down there for a reason. If you insist on befriending your workers, you might as well
Today is the day to start saving money for retirement. The way people can be more informed with where there money goes, and how it is spent is by merging unnecessary accounts together. This gives a better view of how much is at hand, and the account information is very helpful in knowing how it is used. This method is informative and simply, and can help save a lot. Also, people can pay them selves first. By doing this money is put into a specific account before anything else. This way there is less to spend or waste, and its almost like it was never there to begin with so it is not missed. Along with those options people should sacrifice unneeded luxuries to save money, especially during the warmer months. One article says, “Summertime is notorious for...
In conclusion, the best way to manage your money is to keep a budget and record all your transaction to see where your money is going. Living with a budget isn’t the easiest thing in the world, but it can be a great alternative to worrying about how you are going to pay for your expenses. Budgeting allows you to create a spending plan for your money; it ensures that you will always have money for the things that are important to you. Following a budget will also keep you out of debt. Many people don’t realize that they spend more than they earn and slowly sink deeper into debt every year.
One of the most life changing effects of unemployment is the loss of income. Especially if they are a single parent of if they have a large family to support. Having no money means eventually having no food, no clothes, no shelter, and no car. It also prevents one from doing many things and activities, even though their amount of leisure time has increased. One might not have money to go to the movies, play on sports’ teams, or do any other recreational things. Being unemployed for a long enough time leads to a lot of debt. Any money that has been saved ends up getting spent rather quickly with all of today’s living expenses. Twenty thousand dollars may seem like a lot of money to some people, but with no income that money gets spent before you know it.
It taught me patience and helped me to gain confidence as an individual in a diverse society. It allowed me to develop my listening skills and the ability to understand the feelings of other human beings. I now see empathy, like love, as an essential characteristic to the betterment of our world. I'm proud that I've had the chance to develop this quality, and it excites me to know that the people I'll go on to meet throughout my life will have the opportunity to be heard because I will want to listen. I am passionate about connecting with people and look forward to the many connections I'm sure to make at the University of
Having money saved away for emergencies is a must! People do not always know exactly what is to happen in their future, but having money set aside for certain purposes can make the process much easier. For example, one day someone could be making $28 an hour and living financially well, to being laid off and not having any other source of income until
