The reason why I decided to attend FIDM, was because I started working at my mother’s boutique at 15 years old, always loved to style people’s outfits, and as soon as I visited FIDM i knew it was the perfect fit for me. All these different things inspired me so much in a way that I finally found my career and how I want to be successful. The main reason how I actually got into fashion and decided that I wanted to be in that industry was from the boutique I worked at for a long time. It gave me a lot of experience which I needed in order to open up my own store. I am so excited to see what FIDM has for me in the future. When I was 15 years old, I worked in my mom’s clothing boutique and really had a fun experience working there. My job was to help customers out with fitting rooms, helping customers pick out clothes, and working the cashier. It was so good to be able to get that type of experience so young because I kind of got a taste of what the whole fashion world looked like. One thing that was awesome about working there was that i got to learn how to deal with customers even though it was tough sometimes. I worked at the boutique for 5 years and it really made me love retail and made me want to get into that type of

My experience at FMSC is a full of fun and excitement because there you meet new people while racing to get
I took up my first job sophomore year of high school and have stuck with it ever since. I currently still work there, Enchanted Beach Weddings. In this job I work labor and I am also one of the head photographers. We set up beautiful weddings on the beach and then I am in charge of directing them and leading the bride, groom and everyone else through the wedding. While I am doing that, I am also taking the wedding photography. It is a super stressful job to have couple’s wedding day experience in your hands and control, but I have never had a bad experience with it and am so priveleged to be a part of such an important day for couples about 75 times each year. On the side of this job, I have always had a fun job to make a little extra money by work...
As I mentioned before, I was not sure what to expect going in. It was very overwhelming at first, but I am so glad that I was able to meet with the people that I did. This was especially great for me because I ran into one of my childhood friends who I haven’t seen in many years. She currently works for Acrobatique Creative Branding Boutique, which I was unfamiliar with. She gave me information on what her company was about and some of the opportunities that are available.
One of the main reasons I was inspired to participate was because of the benefits it provided for the students. This particular institute focused on engineering. Not only do I have a passion for reading and writing but I am fortunate enough to also be good at math and science. What I learned from the program was career exploration when
This profession also has a large business aspect to it and that intrigues me a lot. I have grown up always listening to my dad talk about business and the market and how “the business world” is very important, I’ve have just become more and more interested in finding out all about that. The world of fashion is something that I have always wanted to be a part of, and now, I am working my way there.
According to Brandi Reid, a store associate who has worked at Kohl's for three years has mentioned her previous experience in starting off at Kohl's. During her first year employed at Kohl's, she found it challenging despite of how the layout of the store is and knowing where to located the departments the store has. However, when she started to gain knowledge of the stores' layout, she found to be a enjoyable experience to be helping out the customers and setting out merchandise on the
Graduating high school was really exciting for me, but at the same time I was apprehensive because I knew it was a significant milestone in my life and I didn't know what to expect with college. However, the freedoms provided by college ending up being wonderful. I love being able to completely manage my time on my own and make my own decisions. I graduate college next May. If I were not going to grad school I would probably be dreading it because I don't think I'm ready for the "real world" and having a 9-5 job yet. So, since I am continuing my education it's going to be exciting since I will be moving to a new state and meeting new people.
loving school. My life has changed since I was in Mrs. Kasten class. She has been a huge
I work at a metaphysical, yoga, massage, and reiki store called Positive Practice and I am very glad that I have had the opportunity to have such an amazing experience at. Positive Practice is not only all of those things but, it is also a place of so many classes to teach and learn from such as Ground Center protect Class, The 4 Clairs, and Wire wrapping. In their metaphysical store, they sell products such as oils, gemstones in multiple shapes and sizes, candles, incense, jewelry, clothing and much more all to help your mental and sometimes physical being. At my internship I have more than 10 jobs to do basically all of the time and that is one of the reasons why I love it so much. By the third quarter my LTI project was done and as a whole I was very proud of how everythings turned out and how I had a lot of evidence to show at my exhibition. I am also very happy to hear that there is a high possibility that my project could be used next year for one of my big projects as a
Thrilled because it was one of the top state schools for science in New York. I was anxious because the school was a bit far away, and I liked to stay close to home. During orientation, I did not know what to expect, surrounded by new people, and a new environment. I wondered whether if I could really adjust to this new setting and whether it would impact might academics. As I mentioned earlier, personal success is finding where you're most comfortable and content in. Also, I was kind of on the fence on what major I was going to pursue. I knew it was going to be in the science field, but I just could not narrow down to the specifics. One of the challenges that I might face along my academic journey is not knowing what major to study. I have considered, biology, nursing, or pharmacy. The undergraduate college advisor could assist me on what major is best suited for me. Another challenge that I might face along my academic journal is procrastination coupled with laziness. Ever since I was in middle school, I always did assignments at the last minute, which might hinder my performance in the courses that I might take in college. For this problem, I am the one that should try and help myself, because in college you are expected to do your work on time. The people that I think would be helpful in supporting my academic success are my parents, peers, lecturers, and my SSO
From the moment I starting my educational path I knew four years wouldn’t be enough to fill me with all the dimensions of the fashion industry. This led me to make my decision to apply for the M.S. Global Fashion Enterprise degree. When asked how this program at Philadelphia University would benefit me, I will begin by giving a background on my previous education. I started my undergraduate degree at Buffalo State College in upstate New York pursuing a Bachelor degree in Fashion Merchandising. After being in the program for a year I was confident in knowing I needed a change. My journey changed drastically when I moved down to sunny Fort Lauderdale, Florida where I transferred to the Art Institute under the same major. I will be graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fashion Merchandising come this June 2014. My experience at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale has uncovered my love of education and research.
It was a clothing store for children. I enjoyed the job I had in the beginning; all I did was open up boxes and place the clothes in the racks so the store associates could hang them up on the store racks. I enjoyed the job because I did not have to deal with the customers that came into the store. In addition, when viewing what I value in the workplace, I realized that I find intellectual stimulation, security, and economic rewards to be the most important values.
...is instilled in me, that I must gain as much knowledge as possible in order to succeed in life. In the fashion industry, one must continue to learn about the world around them in order to keep up with the changes in the industry. There are many different ways today that I can keep up with what is going on in the fashion world without going to school, but school will prepare me for the challenges that are to come. The only previous work experience that I had working in a fashion was at Mortal Kombat. I did not stay at the job very long because of personal issues that I had with staff. I feel that I need to get involved in some type of fashion job so that I can network better. Networking is essential in the fashion business, because you may never see people that you want to talk to but word-of-mouth can open doors that lead you in the direction that you wanted to go.
These past four years have really been a life changing experience. From a childish freshmen not only at school but at home too, to a still sometimes childish senior, one who knows when and how to control himself. This school and its teachers have taught me so many lessons that will not be forgotten any time soon.
The last semester of my junior year was mind boggling. I had the amazing opportunity to see First Wave perform at the national Keystone Conference in Orlando, Florida. In awe and inspired, at how poetry, music, storytelling, and hip-hop combined to tackle issues such as conformity and peer pressure. Not only did I want to be a part of the program, I wanted to graduate from the school that they attended as well. To be incorporated in a group of people with strong, creative minds will expose me to how other people view the world and give me experiences that I would not have the opportunity to have anywhere else.
