The only kitchen tool I could use to help was the peeler because no one ever trusted me around a knife or the fire. A knife and sauté pan was all I wanted to use and work with but I only got stuck with peeling potatoes and carrots until I was seven.
One Sunday afternoon my mom and I were preparing for Sunday roast and while I was peeling my potatoes mom suddenly took away the peeler and handed me a knife. The knife was so

I want to be able to learn more techniques in and out of the kitchen and restaurant. In any kitchen I cook in I want to absorb as much information and be able to learn how to control a well runned kitchen, develop relationships with chefs, and learn to create the most delicious food. The night before Easter I couldn’t sleep knowing what a great day it going to be with delicious food. I had a dream of all the great food we were going to bar-b-que with sides and desserts. My dad and I woke up early Easter Sunday to get everything ready and I knew it was going to be perfect. We started bar-b-queing and I just love the way it smells when I just barely put it on the bar-b-que pit. Especially after the meat cooks for a while, and I open the lid and a white cloud of smoke emerges into my face like when a car burns out and I just inhale then exhale the aroma of the meat. My family and I love to bar-b-que for Easter, so we invite our friends and family to come to our house to have fun and to have a memorable time. My dad, my tio, and I are the ones who love to bar-b-que while my mom, my tia’s, and my girlfriend are making all the sides and desserts. My dad, my tio, and I are in the back of the house by the fence to the left of the house with three bar-b-que pits while my mom, my tia, and girlfriend are setting up the tables under the patio to place the scrumptious food an...

Growing up I lived in a medium size house in a rural county in central Indiana. This medium size home in Indiana was the house I was brought home from the hospital as an infant to the house I felt compelled to move off on my own as an adult of 23 years. While living in Indiana I had lived in that house the whole 23 years, except of the two semesters in college life over a three-year period. Not to say living with parents was the easiest housing situation in the world, but it did come with amenities, for the small fee of completing household task. Chores were asked of me to complete until the day I moved out, such chores were cleaning the house, laundry, cooking, and these chores were stepping-stones in gaining my independence as an adult. Other tasks that I was asked to participate in was feeding livestock, bailing hay, and various other farm living duties. It is difficult to complete the farming task while living in the city, but I gained memories that will last my
“My learning experience, things I can achieve, the decisions I make, the people I meet and befriend and the mistakes I make tells me who I am now and who I will become.” As a child, this was a belief that my parents taught me and, so I grew up with it and became very devoted to follow it. My parents always said to me “Learn all you can.” They also taught me that the decisions I make will help me to build my own destination, and the way I treat others will say the person I am. Until this day, I continue to believe, apply and follow that belief. Today, Hospitality Management is my number one career choice I have chosen to work for the rest of my life. In many different ways, Hospitality Management reflects my third, fourth and fifth of
Most chefs’ or home cooks finish high school in the hope of getting in to a culinary institute where it is somewhat competitive to get in. Some might attend a community college which can also be competitive. Some without the finance or time for school, but who still have the passion for cooking, get their G.E.D. and try for an apprenticeship. In hope to gain quicker experience, they try to learn everything they can from their mentor on the job, instead of college, and could become rather successful.
