My College Goals

Throughout my young life, I’ve had many goals. Some maintainable, and some incredibly ridiculous that should have never even been a thought in my mind. Ridiculous or not, it’s important to have goals to keep yourself motivated by pushing yourself to be the best that you can be. In college, it’s so important for us to have personal, academic, and professional goals for many reasons. For one, having goals help us welcome the day with excitement knowing that if we push ourselves we can accomplish amazing things. Also, if we didn’t have goals, it would be so easy for college students to quit based the level of difficulty it takes to receive a college degree. One academic goal I wish to achieve while at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods is to graduate with above a 3.5 GPA and graduate with honors. I want to prove to myself that I can do anything I put my mind to, no matter how hard. By being a first-generation college student, I also want to prove to my family that anyone can go to college and succeed. Not only do I want to receive a 3.5 GPA, but I have to. Most of my scholarships I have received are only renewable if I maintain a 3.5 GPA. So in order for me to have to opportunity to even go to college I need to keep those scholarships. I also hope to receive more scholarships throughout my career at The Woods so having a high GPA and being an honors student should definitely help my …show more content…

I love the idea of going to work every day and teaching children exactly what I love to do, art. Art is something I’ve always had a passion for no matter what was going on in my life. I’ve always had a special bond with my art teachers and each one has had a special impact on me as an artist and as a person. The reason I want to become an art teacher is because of those special relationships I’ve had with my art teachers. To make this goal a reality, I need to stay focused in school and do all my schoolwork to the best of my ability. Next summer I am trying to get a job at a local daycare. Having work experience with kids, will help me become more prepared for my future as an elementary art teacher.
