My College Goals

Ever since I was a child, my dream has been to go to college. As a freshman at CSUB, I am here to accomplish my goals that have been forming over the years. My parents have lacked the opportunity of a higher education and the least I can do is to make them proud by obtaining a degree. I hope that my goal of obtaining a degree will help fulfill my dream in the future. Being the first generation in my family to go to college or university is a privilege, because I am able to set an example that will endure through many generations. If my parent’s would have obtained a degree, I would probably be expected to become something in life, because they had done so. In this case, I have had that motivation and determination within me. Those goals that I have set for myself will be accomplished in the near future, because I am not dependent on what other people say or tell me to do. When someone sets goals for themselves, it is difficult for anyone to turn them down. My goals will be there and will continue to grow as time goes by, because nothing can stop my passion for becoming successful in life.

My main goal is to obtain a degree in Computer Science that will help me in a job that will possibly involve Computer programming. Computers and mathematics problems have been a source of enjoyment for me. Therefore, I have decided that a field such as Computer Science would suit my strengths. All of the other subjects in school have always been harder for me to get through. Ever since I was a little girl, I was very good at mathematics. Although I am not the best in any subject, I hope that the skills I have and will acquire in the future help me become someone with a purpose in life.
