I love learning about how the body works, what can go wrong, and what certain things do to the body. I’ve always loved helping others in my life, and I want to continue to do it for the rest of my life. I chose to become a nurse when I was a freshman in high school. I ended up going to my local vocational school, Mid East, for their Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program. I went there my junior and my senior year of high school. It wasn’t an easy 2 years of my life, because I was always studying or doing homework. I was very determined to pass my state boards for my LPN my very first time taking them, and I did …show more content…

I love knowing that I can try to help make someone 's life better just by doing something small, or even something big. As I have stated before, I have had no singular experience that has led me to the career choice of nursing. I had a natural inclination towards the profession, and as I pursued this inclination, I grew more and more passionate about nursing. Each day, I wholeheartedly put my determination to be a nurse into everything I do. Nursing is more than a career choice to me; it is a privilege for me to share my compassion with human beings. Stony Brook University School of Nursing will allow me to receive the best education, allowing me to impact others in the most profound way possible.
Everyday in this world, elderly, adults, teens or children become ill or get into accidents and need medical attention. Whether these elderly, adults, teens or children are taken to a hospital, pediatrician, specialist, or clinic, a doctor and a nurse will tend to them. The nurse plays a role that is just as important as the doctor. Nurses work very closely with the families as part of the caring process. Every member of the family plays a role in different ways. The nurses are there to help the patient as well as the family step through the illness or injury. They provide information for the prevention of future illness and injury, and help to comfort the patient and his/her family. It is vital that a nurse understands that to be a nurse, you need a certain personality and understanding of the field.
Nursing has always been a key career in the health care system. Although it is not often focused on in media and stories surrounding health care, nursing is a career of great importance. If any patient was asked about their experience at a hospital or a care center, many will mention the capability and care that they received from the nurses. Nursing is considered the backbone of the healthcare system. This career is an excellent career for me. I like to help people, and work that is somewhat challenging.
A career in the medical field is always evolving, and always needing more hands. I knew from a young age that helping people is what I was meant to do, and from then on out every step I took was the way to a successful career in nursing. It is a profession that allows you to see people at their worst, all while helping them become their best. The most important task for nursing students is to create a clear pathway for our education, and to be sure to follow that plan accordingly. When choosing this career, I had to access my own strengths and weaknesses and really establish clear goals for myself and evaluate if I had what it takes to be a part of this diverse and skilled profession. I also decided not only not only do I need to set professional goals for this career, personal goals are important as well.
My future plans include graduating high school, going to college and getting a master’s degree in Nursing. The career I chose is Nurse Practitioner also known as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN). To my knowledge Nurse Practitioner includes checking up on patients, prescribing medication, order treatments, and informing patients. The workplace would be fast paced and fast decisions have to made. You are entrusted daily with the lives of patients and can range from situations such as flu to more complicated like providing care to patients in the extensive care unit. To be a Nurse Practitioner I know you will need to form a tough mindset to be prepared for anything and act accordingly to the situation present.
I chose to start immediately furthering my career after graduating with an associate of science degree in nursing and enrolled in a BSN program within six months after graduating. I tried to broaden my nursing experience by getting involved in nursing activities outside

Nurses: they are one of a kind. In times of considerable hardships from school, I remind myself why I want to be a nurse as my motivation. In middle school, I chose nursing as my career path for various reasons. First and foremost, to me, there is no better feeling than the one that comes from helping another human being. I strongly believe that being helpful is my best quality and I often go out of my way to help anyone in need. Secondly, I know the amount of pain and sorrow that a person can experience when their loved ones are sick or facing death. I want to not only help patients get better, but I also want to offer a significant amount of emotional support to the patient and his or her family. Another reason that I'm dedicated to the nursing
