Recommended: The evolution of nursing

Registered Nurse Registered nurses provide care and medical information to patients. Registered nurses are considered the backbone of the healthcare system. There is plenty of history, requirements, and outlooks on Registered nurses. The history of nursing dates back to the medieval times to today. It started off with nuns, in addition to their religious practices, attended the sick and dying. Nurses were usually females back then. When the Crimean War went on, an English nurse, Florence Nightingale, started the foundation for nursing. Florence Nightingale wrote the first book of nursing, saying the requirements, and details of nursing. In 1901, New Zealand founded the first registration of nurses with the Nurses Registration Act. One of the first Registered nurses was Ellen Dougherty. Over the years nursing developed to what it is today. Even today nursing is still evolving, innovating, and expanding. Today instead of only having female nurses, there are many male nurses in the field. Although, nursing has stayed somewhat the same over the years, technology has had a big impact on it. This impact has mostly been positive. Technology makes nurses jobs easier, it facilitates communication on the go, and allows remote care/monitoring. With technology, nurses don’t have to be with the patient 24/7. Technology does things nurses used to do, so that nurses can attend other things. With more technology coming into the medical field, this will only help the nurses more in the future. Also, there are many requirements one needs to become registered nurse. Firstly, one needs an associate, bachelor’s degree, or a diploma from an accredited nursing program to become a registered nurse. When becoming a registered nurse, one needs to major ... ... middle of paper ... ...h insurance benefits, and flexible schedules. Most jobs don’t offer these benefits. The cons include, that it is a demanding profession; it requires a lot of work and determination. Also, working with sick people leads to a high chance of getting sick, infected, and diseases (Dangerous work conditions). Nurses also work long hours, they can get tired and sore after a hard day’s work. Registered nurses have a lot of stress to deal with. Another con is that, some patients can be hard to corporate and work with. Registered nurses have a lot of stress to deal with. There have been many times when nurses get hurt holding down a patient or trying to calm one down. It seems like the pros and cons are equal. Nursing is considered the backbone of the healthcare system. This career is an excellent career for me. I like to help people, and work that is somewhat challenging.
