• If I were to accept Mustapha’s reimbursement claim as it is, knowing very well that the claim is not all correct (as confessed by Mustapha), I would thus, be in violation of the following IMA standards of ethical responsibilities: - I. Competence 1. Perform professional duties in accordance with relevant laws/ regulations/ technical standards. 2. Provide accurate, clear, concise, and timely decision support information and recommendations. If I accepted Mustapha’s falsified claim as something that is a norm and expected from all the staff in the company, I would have deemed failed to perform my professional duties in accordance with the IMA standards. I should correct the on-going wrong practice so that future expectations of the staff and shareholders of the company could be more realistic and in accordance with actual information, not something that is distorted, misleading and incorrect. Although it appeared that the wrong-doings are related only to travelling claims, the information provided if not corrected, would have domino effect on other data as the claims are part of the company’s essential direct costs which would negatively impact on effective decision making (particularly when deciding the pricing strategy on the company’s products and services). Therefore, it is my professional duty and responsibility to provide information that can be reasonably expected to assist the intended user to make good decisions. One wrong practice if goes uncorrected could lead to another and eventually would have cancerous effects on the overall well-being and general health of the company with potential ability to turn the profitability into a loss and affect its long term going concern. I should not allow conflict of interest, bias or undue influence of others to override my professional and business
