Greetings Ms. Simno and Sister Camille Anne I, Tessa Nicosia, give you greetings and hope you are doing well. I hope you have peace in your hearts and trusting God with your problems. Bless you for your patience in dealing with everything dealing with Mount Carmel Academy. You have done much to help the school flourish. The school’s academics and religious aspect are above average. Mount Carmel is a such a loving community that helps people when they are in need. Mount Carmel also has many kind girls who are responsible, hardworking, and care about others. Because of this, Mount Carmel is a great place to be. Another great thing that is great is the sisterhood; it is a strong and amazing sight to see. In difficult times, the school bands
The emerald jewel of Brooklyn, Prospect Park is often called the borough’s backyard and has been a serene and idyllic retreat for Brooklynites for well over a century now. In fact, the park recently celebrated its 150th anniversary with great fanfare, attesting its historic importance and role it’s played in city life for generations. Few people, however, know the true history of the park, such as its connection to Central Park and the role it played in the development of Brooklyn real estate in the late 19th century. To that end, here’s a quick look at the hidden history of Prospect Park and the key role it’s played in the city’s history over the years.
Wanting to attend Archbishop Mitty High School had never been a question of mine. I aim to go far in life and I am confident that AMHS is the school that will lead me down that path. By shadowing and attending the open house, I noticed that AMHS is like a second home to its members. The positive vibe radiating through its students offers me something to look forward to and another reason to wake up in the morning and go to school. Although I wasn’t a student, I was treated as if I belonged. I enjoyed how I didn’t have to be noteworthy to be accepted. Unlike typical high school movies, I could be myself without worrying about judgmental stares. I am certain many unforgettable memories will be made.
If you were a soldier of the Continental Army during the winters at Valley Forge, would you have quit? The Continental Army was an army of militiamen that was created by the Continental Congress. The soldiers and generals in the army had little to no experience, and they lacked supplies such as quality clothing, proper shelters, and sufficient food. The Continental Army was led by George Washington, one of the best generals in U.S. history, who taught the soldiers almost everything they knew. On October 1777, British General Howe brought his army of 18,000 redcoats into the national capital of Philadelphia. Consequently, Washington decided to move his army to Valley Forge, an area just 18 miles from Philadelphia, to keep watch on them. It just
Age wrinkles the body, quitting wrinkles the soul. Many soldiers are quitting Valley Forge and are sometimes called summer soldiers or sunshine patriots because they leave if it gets hard but returns when it gets easy. Valley Forge happened in the winter of 1777 to 1778. The camp was very close to starving. The camp was set up 18 miles outside of Philadelphia. The doctors used live chicken pox on healthy soldiers to try to get the body to reject the chicken pox symptoms. In 1773, 310 streetlights were installed in Boston. I have decided to not re-enlist for three reasons which are: sickness, the conditions, and the deaths.
“I am Sick - discontented - and out of humour. Poor food - hard lodging - Cold Weather - fatigue - Nasty Cloaths - nasty Cookery - Vomit half my time - smoak’d out of my senses - the Devil’s in’t - I can’t Endure it - Why are we sent here to starve and Freeze…” Valley Forge, the hell of the American Revolution. The American Revolution was a war between what is now known as the United States, and Great Britain, in which the United States were fighting for their freedom. The reason for British inclusion was that they needed the colonies (the United States) for resources and for taxes. Three years into the American Revolution and it’s Winter, 1777. General Washington needed somewhere secure to relocate his army for the Winter. Enter Valley Forge, a military camp in Pennsylvania. If I had a choice of either staying in Valley Forge for the Winter or returning home, I would not have stayed in Valley Forge for the following reasons; sickness and death were rife, the living conditions were horrendous, and the continental army was running out of supplies. The soldiers
East Boston is very different from the rest of Boston’s neighborhoods. It is geographically separated by the water and is accessible only via the Sumner tunnel, Callahan tunnel, or the Blue Line of the MBTA. It used to be accessed by a ferry service but the ferry was discontinued in the 1950s (Page 3 of the second book in the kit). It is an ethnic enclave with a large Hispanic and Latino population (page 4 of ACS in kit). This was easily visible when walking through East Boston. As cars were driving by with open windows, loud Spanish music emanated from the radios. An Eastern Bank on Meridian Street had advertisment signs in both English and Spanish to cater to the clientele of the neighborhood. Also, at La Sultana in Maverick Square, the employees spoke to each other (and to Spanish speaking customers) in Spanish only.
Tennessee has an endless supply of historical and interesting attractions on your RV trip across the Volunteer State. Starting in the west, the home of the King of Rock and Roll has been a favorite for decades. Located in Memphis, on the Mississippi River, Graceland was home to Elvis Presley for 20 years beginning in 1957. Tours are offered at the home, where you can see how he lived while making his famous music. It includes his music room, collections and even his grave.
Most often, geography and history are relatively synonymous, because several locations have a resounding places in history. The main concepts of geography such as location, place, and regions are related with the major ideas of history such as time, period, and events. The relationship between history and geography is especially close because they represent two fundamental dimensions of the same phenomenon (Guide to teaching world history 2001-2004). Similarly, by studying the geography and history of Pike’s Peak, one can learn the effect of pike’s peak over Colorado history. The influence of pikes peak in history of Colorado
Good morning teachers, faculty, administrators, family, friends, and of course students. It is a great privilege to be standing here today and representing our class on our eighth grade Class Day. Can you believe it? Four years ago, most of us walked into this school as nervous as we were the first day of school. We were the tiny fifth graders, the youngest students in this middle school, not knowing where anything was and how to navigate the school. Now, those same four years later, we’re leaving this school behind to a whole new school being just as nervous as we were when we first arrived. It has been a long four years as well as a short four years. Long because of all the tests, quizzes, finals, and projects, but short because of the lifelong friendships, the lasting memories, and the truly interesting and amazing things we learned in-between. The Abington Heights Middle School is definitely a welcoming, fun, memorable, and great school that I will never forget. These four years spent with these wonderful classmates has been an extraordinary journey with many cherishable memories.
A Saint Lucy student not only lives by the Catholic Christian values, but also understands the value of integrity, communicates effectively, and yearns to learn. The welcoming atmosphere has always drawn me towards Saint Lucy. The bright smiling teachers and loving community is not one to be forgotten but remembered. The long-lasting sense of community and support for all student growth is an important attribute of Saint Lucy School. The bonds between teachers and students, best friends, and students last a lifetime. Each day, teachers have pushed us to develop skills for life through faith-development, challenging academics, leadership opportunities, and service to others.
Colorado is the state I am doing. Why you ask? I am doing Colorado because most of my family is from Denver, and I just wanted to learn more about the state. While doing research about my state I learned a lot so I am excited to go tell my relatives what I learned. I learned the big things about Colorado, landmarks, state symbols, etc. So if you want to learn about Colorado, this is the paper for you.
Over the weekend, I chose to travel to Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook as my area of research, since I have never been there despite living in northeast Los Angeles almost my entire life. Upon arriving at Baldwin Hills, the first topographic and natural elements I noticed was the area was covered in grassland, which contained numerous small shrubs and trees. This provided a stark contrast compared to the rest of the city below the hillside and overlook, which had minimal vegetation and consisted mainly of man-made buildings, roads, infrastructure, and cement. Immediately, I noticed the extremely high altitude in comparison to the large expanse of flat land that surrounded the mountain on all four sides. A large telephone or satellite pole protruded from one side of the hills, which appeared
Kari, I want to note how beautiful you look today, and to tell you that this has truly been a special day for me. Thank you for giving true meaning to the word sister and for sharing the last 28 years with me. My parents and I have just loved this girl from the day she was born. We?ve coddled her, enjoyed her, and laughed with her. I know how much joy she has brought into our lives, and I know that she?ll bring that joy into Ernest?s life...
Now I would like to take the time to thank everyone who has helped me get this far. First of all, thank you to all the teachers. None of us would be here without you always pushing our academic abilities to the fullest. Jessica Parker a.k.a. my partner in crime as Mr. Tri would refer to us. You made everyday coming to school worthwhile. Hillary Laswell, who would leave third period to go steal flowers from horticulture and give them to Mrs. Granillo with me. My brother Jeramie who always said, "If anyone is mean to you, I'll take care of it." My Mom, thank you for always believing in me and putting up with me when I was a real jerk.
