Age wrinkles the body, quitting wrinkles the soul. Many soldiers are quitting Valley Forge and are sometimes called summer soldiers or sunshine patriots because they leave if it gets hard but returns when it gets easy. Valley Forge happened in the winter of 1777 to 1778. The camp was very close to starving. The camp was set up 18 miles outside of Philadelphia. The doctors used live chicken pox on healthy soldiers to try to get the body to reject the chicken pox symptoms. In 1773, 310 streetlights were installed in Boston. I have decided to not re-enlist for three reasons which are: sickness, the conditions, and the deaths. The reason that I will not re-enlist is that the sickness kills most people and I don’t want to die too. “I am sick . .
. cold weather . . . fatigue . . . vomit half my time . . .” (Waldo,151). Waldo wrote that he is sick and he is the doctor that cares for the sick. The cold weather, fatigue, and the vomit could also make the other soldiers sick. “ A general cry thro’ . . . the soldiers “no meat! No meat” (Waldo, 151). No meat would show that the soldiers would not be at their full potential and could make the weak soldiers sick. “2898 people were sick and 1800 people died of that sickness” (Busch, 147). The document shows a 10% chance of sickness and about a 50% chance of death by sickness and I don’t want to take a chance of death. “While Washington is talking to the soldiers and congressmen, the soldiers seem to be in bad conditions and are barefoot in the snow.” (Powel, 149). The cold weather and snow would give the soldiers a possible chance of being sick. This reason is causing me to not re-enlist because of how the sicknesses could kill me. The second reason that I will not re-enlist is because of the bad conditions. “There comes a soldier . . . feet seen thro’ his worn shoes, his legs barely naked from . . . an only pair of stockings” (Waldo,151). What Waldo is saying is that the soldier only have poor clothes that are worn and torn apart. “ . . . Poor food-hard lodging-nasty clothes-nasty cookery-vomit half my time . . .” (Waldo,151). This quote is saying that food is poor, the lodging is bad, there are nasty clothes, and he vomits mosts of his time.
In the winter of 1777 and 1778 George Washington and the Continental Army had a rough time at Valley Forge. Valley Forge was 18 miles outside of Philadelphia . Some of the soldiers left because all they did was work it was cold and they had bad clothing like worn out shoes and they were getting sick but not all left some stayed loyal and times got even harder but they were so devoted to stay and fight for their freedom. So I would not have quit because…..
Who would have the guts to stay? “ The first two years of the American Revolution had not gone well for the Continental Army.” George Washington was having trouble keeping soldiers, but for only nine months some soldiers will use their bravery to keep on fighting for freedom. Although, the congressmen didn’t trust George Washington, it didn’t stop him from leading his soldiers into battle. The soldiers settled for winter in Valley Forge in Philadelphia in the perfect spot to keep an eye on the British and close to Quakers for food. They were ready to face the winter. After the winter started to come to the end, most of the army survived . “ On April 13, 1778, word reached camp that the French would join the Americans in the war. It was a huge turning point.” A soldier would not have quit Valley Forge because to supporting other soldiers, give motivation, and reassurance that they were getting resources.

War kills you before you get killed. In The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien, many of the soldiers went off to war because of the fear of their families disowning them or thinking poorly of them for not being brave enough to put their lives on the line for their country. “They carried the soldier’s greatest fear, which was the fear of blushing. Men killed, and died because they were embarrassed not to. It was what had brought them to the war in the first place, nothing positive, no dreams of glory or honor, just to avoid the blush of dishonor. They died so as not to die of embarrassment.”Even if you're still living you feel dead inside. Once you enlist you to give up your life. Every second of every day you're living in fear. Every step

The United States Army Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) came into existence by Army Captain Alden Patridge with the National Defense Act of 1916.The focus of JROTC was on secondary schools which is grades nine through twelve. Under the provisions of the Act, high schools were given the loan of federal military equipment and the assignment of active duty military personnel to be instructors. In 1964, the Vitalization Act opened JROTC up to the other services and replaced most of the active duty instructors with retirees who worked for and were cost shared by different schools. “Making the best military officers in the world; motivating young people to be better citizens”.
Jimmy Valentine was an extraordinary thief who changed his life around to become a thoughtful person. Jimmy Valentine was a former bank robber and professional thief. He could pick just about any lock there was with his set of tools however, it clearly can be seen that Jimmy Valentine changed much in one year to be a better man with a moral life because he started his very own shoe company, fell in love with Annabel Adams, and used his past skills for the greater good to help someone in need.
The Vaquita is a species of porpoise. Its name means “little cow” in Spanish. Of the several porpoise species that are out there it is actually the smallest. They grow to the size of four to five feet and weigh up to 120 pounds. This rare porpoise species that is fairly unknown to most of the world human population is also the most endangered marine mammal out there and is latterly on the verge of extinction. These porpoises desperately require the human species assistance in order to rebuild its population. Without the support and dedication from researchers, scientists, and the general human population the Vaquita population will diminish uncontrollably. Regrettably, the reproduction rate is not as fast as researchers would had hoped for which has made it even more of a challenge with
Jon Urbana is the type of man that has plenty of plans in place for the future. You might say that his mind is focused on helping as many people as possible in the future. However, Urbana is presently doing amazing work with a number of good causes. For example, Urbana is a strong supporter of several charities in Colorado. Urbana also devotes time to his Next Level Camp. Instead of taking a break, the former lacrosse player likes to spend time flying through the skies of Colorado or taking photographs of the beautiful Colorado landscape.
The learning world for sophomores at Yucca Valley High School is in shambles. A very small percentage of students from this high school are likely to go to college to pursue their career. Living in an impoverished area does not help the fact that very little people from this town attend universities and get college degrees. Students are also achieving poorly with only one third of the school having a grade point average of 3.0 or above. Students need to have a chance to compete with students from other places so they, too, can go to college and be educated. A typical sophomore schedule consists of an English class, a math class, a science, World History, and physical education. Why are the students achieving poorly? There is a large gap in
About four miles from the sea, there was once a rich kingdom bordered with a giant stone wall. It is the ancient kingdom of Troy. The wall around Troy was designed to protect the city. It was made out of stone, high and tall. Climbing the wall was too slippery and going over the wall was impossible because of the Trojan bowmen that stood on the top of the wall. If they saw an intruder, they just pulled back their bowstrings and let the arrow fly towards the target. There is only one entrance into Troy - through the double gate. Many traders, farmers, and shepherds go through to sell goods, sheep fur, and silver and gold. If a armed hostile group is approaching Troy, Troy will just simply close the gate. Behind the bolted gate and the stone

Being a soldier was a really tough life. In the end I hated doing the same thing day after day with no change in sight, I despised the leaders that didn 't take care of their subordinates, and most importantly, I couldn 't lead my soldiers from the front anymore. I 'll be the first one to say that joining the army was the best thing to happen to me. I have grown so much as a person and the lessons I learned are invaluable. In the end I realized the negative factors outweighed any possible benefit I might receive from continued service. It was time for me to
or duty, or for some change in lifestyle, or for job security in a bad economy, But the military
