Mother Teresa’s Unconditional Love
The book, One Heart Full of Love, is a combination of speeches and interviews featuring Mother Teresa given during the 1970’s and early 1980’s. It’s very obvious to me that Mother Teresa was a very simple woman. Each of the chapters in the book covers virtually the same information. The stories discussed in her speeches were all very similar. She seemed to use the same stories but add a little different twist depending on the crowd she was addressing. I really don’t know if the “twist” was to keep the stories fresh in her mind or to appease a given congregation. Nevertheless, the information she was putting out was basic, to the point, and spoken in a manner that is easily understood. Mother Teresa touched a lot of peoples lives in her time and I think this simple and basic approach helped her to accomplish this. Simple and basic is the life she chose and to help persons in need is the life commitment she made.
One of the stories that Mother Teresa spoke of in her speeches touched me a little closer than others. She speaks of going out into the streets and gathering the poor, the diseased and the drunks and of bringing them in and providing food, shelter and an opportunity to get clean. Many of these people would die when they were in the care of the sisters. One individual who was brought in stated “I have lived like an animal in the streets. I am gong to die like an angel, surrounded by love and care” (Mother Teresa, 28). This is w...
Many service projects have had an impact on my life, but the significant one is the time that our group put together Blessing Bags. The Blessing Bags were bags put together for homeless people. This project had an impact on my life because at one point in time, my family struggled. We did not have a stable home and we had to continue movie because of the living expenses. It is very difficult to buy many products that are needed for personal hygiene, especially if someone does not have a stable home. There are many people that live in the streets and it breaks my heart. Whenever I see homeless people, I give them what I can. Although my family did not become homeless, I could not imagine living in the streets without any food, clothing, or products
"I 'm not really dying today. No person ever died that had a family. I 'll be around a long time. A thousand years from now a whole township of my offspring will be biting sour apples in the gumwood shade.” (page 183) Throughout the story, Dandelion Wine, family is a major theme. After long busy days they all come together and are able to spend time together. It is very important to not get to caught up in life and forget the true meaning and the importance of family. Because life and family are such major aspects in the book, realizing what it is like to live and to die, family traditions, family time and working together is so important in there everyday lives in Dandelion Wine.
Growing up on the south side of Chicago in the roughest neighborhood in the city I learned a lot from others and just observing my surroundings. At times, I would always think to myself my situation could always be worse than it was, and that there is always someone who is doing worst off than me. But my situation turned from being in a bad position to being in a position where my mother would come to lose her mother and our home that we had been living in, all in the same year. After losing her mother and bother my mom lost herself in her emotions and shut down on everyone and with that came the loss of a home for me and my siblings and her job. Shortly after my mom began to go back to church and so did we. It was the first time in a log time that we had attended church and it played a big part in a learning experience for me and my siblings. Through the days that came to pass going to church sparked a desire of wanting to help others who had or are struggling to get by. My mentor, Pastor, and teacher deserves appreciation for helping my mother through a hard time and keeping me and my siblings active in a positive manor.
To begin, Mother Teresa stands as a strong activist from India, who deserves recognition for her tremendous actions. Mother Teresa, founder of a religious group of nuns in Calcutta, India, devoted her life to aiding sick and poor people throughout the world. I see Mother Teresa as an important figure to depict, since she dedicated her life to helping other and even inspired others to do the same. Born in war-torn Albania, Mother Teresa survived her childhood and at 19 joined the Sisters of Loreto in India. She served with missionary order of nuns for 20 years, until she had a realization of her life’s mission. She found that she needed to help the poor and sick. So, Mother Teresa descended into the slums of Calcutta and began the Sisters of Charity. From there, she led the Sisters of Charity in ministering to the sick and hungry by giving them much needed food and live. Mother Teresa received local reconviction; but in 1969, after a documentary on her work, she became a celebrity and was deemed a modern day saint. Mother Teresa used this to increase awareness of her work, thus benefiting the poor and sick further. She gave speeches all over the world emphasizing the struggle of the poor. Before her death, Mother Teresa had met a large number of world l...

First and foremost, the competition during 90’s basketball is vastly different from today’s era. For instance, the Bulls had to go up against many formidable teams such as the Orlando Magic, New York Knicks, Indiana Pacers, and of course the team they faced in the finals the Seattle Supersonics, only to name a few. Meanwhile, the same really can’t be said about the Warriors competition in 2016. The reason for that being
Everyone takes death differently and in this book, the characters show that it isn't overlooked and it affects
Have you ever had to choose between living a life of luxury and plenty or choose one that contained hardship and want, but you were able to help the poor? Mother Teresa, in the book Something Beautiful for God, written by Malcum Muggeridge, had to face this same issue. Everyone believes that Mother Teresa helped the poor, but some believe that Mother Teresa should have helped them and some believe they should have not.
...ir hero and raised her kids to be successful in everything they do. She raised me to be the one to get things done in a timely manner and see that I am reliable and trustworthy. She raised my brother to be hands on and work hard and get the job done. She has been the strongest person to push my brother and I through school and pushes us on even more beyond school so our lives are not as hard as having to “break our backs” throughout our lives. Thanks to her, I will make sure that I do not have to work as hard as she did to get what little bit she had. I will make sure that I live a comfortable and successful life. She will always be my motivation and my support. My mother was the one to push me through school and to go to college. I could not ask for a better person to be in my life other than my own mother.
Individualism is rampant in our world. More and more people are concerned with what they want, when they want it and how they want it. They put blinders on and go about their work, convinced that “looking out for number one” is the only way to succeed and find happiness. If everyone were to adopt this way of thinking and living, the world would become violently competitive, gloomy, and callous. However, if we open our lives and give service to those less fortunate than ourselves, we allow our hearts to receive immeasurable happiness. There are countless members of society, who make service and ultimately self-sacrifice a part of their everyday lives. One of the greatest examples the world has of a self-sacrificing person is Mother Teresa. She said, “In this life we cannot do great things. We can only do small things with great love… It is not the magnitude of our actions but the amount of love that is put into them that matters.” Doctors Without Borders is a powerful humanitarian organization that was most recently volunteering in Haiti. Part of their mission statement reads, “…We unite direct medical care with a commitment to bearing witness and speaking out against the underlying causes of suffering. Our aid workers and staff protest violations of humanitarian law on behalf of populations who have no voice, and bring the concerns of their patients to public forums…” These are just two mainstream examples of people and organizations that live and work for others, to improve the quality of their lives.
For instance, it was an extremely sunny day in Ghana, West Africa, and I had gone out to the well to fetch water. It was while carrying the bucket of water on my way back that I noticed my neighbor’s children fighting over the insufficient amount of food that they had to share. My family and I were not rich but from what I saw, I knew that we were better off than other people I knew. I carried the bucket of water inside the house and came back outside to call the two youngest children that were fighting over the last grain of food. I shared my food my food with them and though it was not sufficient for all, feeding the younger ones alone was better than not helping any one of them at all. There was only little that I could possibly do but by sharing, I had helped them in a great way, even if it was just for the time being.
At a very young age, my parents divorced and at this point my dad left and went back to his home town of Newark, New Jersey. When he did so he left behind my brother and I, along with his four kids from a previous wife with my mom. Because my mom was taking care of six kids alone, she was working 2+ jobs. I was constantly with a babysitter or in daycare in order for my mom to provide for such a big family. Growing up was hard not having both parents around much, but I know now my mom had to sacrifice time to support us.
A good parent makes a big difference not only in their child’s life, but in the lives of everyone that child effects. My father is what I would consider the epitome of a good parent. He may not have had the most successful life; some may argue that his life has been downright difficult. Surviving a car accident at the age of 9, raising two teenage daughters, going through a divorce, dealing with anorexia and self harm within the family, losing his dream and dealing with the death of the woman he loved. Throughout all of the peaks and pitfalls he has endured, he has surmounted and survived. I would classify my father as a survivor. Not the television show type survivor, just a regular guy rising above difficulty and maintaining his courteous character. I would imagine that some of these things would crush most people, or at least wear them away to a lesser person than they started out. One of the many trials in life is to endure through difficult times and to not let those difficult times break you, but to make you stronger.
My mother is an incredible woman. With all of the things she has faced in life. She is still a strong and positive person. She has never let anything get in the way of her doing what is best for her family. I never realized how great of a mother she was until I became older. Now I finally am able to understand all of the sacrifices she made to make sure we were always happy.
