Starling walked down the set of stairs to her locker. It was time for lunch and she was starving. The 8th graders always ate last at the Monticello Middle school and she hoped they wouldn’t run out of corn dogs, again. She added her English homework to the growing pile at the bottom of her locker. She sighed, well, she'd be up late with homework after play practice today. Maybe she would be lucky enough to not get math homework today, although that was highly unlikely. Someone pulled a strand of her curly dark brown and red hair from behind. “Hey!” she exclaimed, but she already knew it was her best friend, Adaro. She shut and locked her locker and turned around. Adaro had hazel green eyes and long red-dirty blonde hair that was almost …show more content…
always in a braid. Beside her were her other friends Camera, Brooklyn, Insane, and Ella. Camera had dirty blonde hair and brown eyes, Brooklyn had blonde hair and blue eyes, Insane had light brown hair and blue eyes, and Ella had light brown and blonde hair and blue eyes. The girls started to walk to lunch together, Adaro had cold lunch so she headed to their table, Ella sat with her other friends at lunch, but she went to the lunch line with the other girls. The girls divided into separate lines once they got to the activities room (where they get the food.) Just as Starling suspected, she and Camera had to change lines because they ran out of corn dogs. The girls got their food and typed in their lunch numbers, and waited for the other girls outside the double door entrance of the activities room. Ella came out first. They stood no longer than two minutes when Ella started to complain. “They are taking forever, I don't want to wait,” she wined. Camera laughed, “Ella, you can go if you want.” Ella shook her head. “But you have to walk with me,” she argued. Camera rolled her eyes. Finally Insane and Brooklyn came out and the girls headed to their lunch tables. The girls sat down and began to talk, Jaden, Elise, Megan, and Riley were also at the table with them.
Once the girls finished, they headed to the gym for recess. Jaden, Elise, and Megan all headed to their other group of friends, and Riley went to hang out with Juliana. The girls sat down at the bleachers next to Ella and her other friends. Just then, Starling started to get a weird tingling sensation in her toes and fingertips. All of a sudden a loud bang echoed through the gym. Everyone went silent. “Star, what was that?” Camera asked her, looking worried. Starling shook her head, “I don't know.” Another loud bang shook the gym. Worried whispers started to popcorn the gym, kids huddled close to their friends, looking around for the source of the bangs. Another bang and the back gym wall exploded. Kids screamed and yelled. Starling's eyes widened. Her friends jumped back and stayed close together, Ella joined them as her other friends ran towards the gym door, which seemed to be locked because the kids weren't getting out of the gym. Men in red suits stormed in the gym, herding the kids into groups by gender. The men were searching the boys and had their guns pointed at the girls. “What the heck is going on?” Brooklyn exclaimed as they were pushed into the group of …show more content…
girls. One of the men with a black belt barked orders to the red suited men, “Search them! I want all eight alive!” He yelled, gesturing to the girls. On the other side of the gym the boys were being shoved into two groups. Starling's mind raced.
Who are these men? And why do they need eight girls? Just then, a suited man grabbed her, her friends, and two other girls she knew from the tennis team; Nova and Alana. The men had scanners and we're scanning separate groups of girls, the men put the girls with one of the groups of boys when they were done scanning them. “Stand in a line!” yelled the man with the black belt, he had come over to their group. The girls were shoved into a line, shoulder to shoulder. The man held a scanner to Alana. It beeped twice. The man smiled. “We got one. Put her with the others,” he ordered. Starling watched Alana be pulled away to the smaller group of boys. Next they scanned Nova. It beeped twice again. The men took her too. They scanned Ella, Brooklyn, Adaro, Camera, and Insane too. There's only beeped once, but the men still took them. Next the man walked up to her. The scanner started to beep, and then exploded. The men jumped in surprise. The man with the black belt eyed her. He leaned in close, his eyes narrowed, searching. He stepped back and stood there, looking her over. After a few moments, he spoke, “I’ll take this one, and our work here is done. Bring the selected ones to the castle.” He then took out a dart gun. He ran his hand along the handle once,
smirking. He then pointed it at Starling. What… The gunshot was the last thing she heard before the world went black.
Joes High School’s total enrollment consisted of sixteen girls, and twenty boys. Ten of the boys that had enrolled there played basketball. All of the boys were over six feet tall. Lane Sullivan, the new coach of the basketball team, had never even touched a basketball before he started coaching. Sullivan had never coached anything at all before he started coaching the Joes basketball team. In order to gain knowledge about the sport, he got a book about it. He started coaching in 1927, but before the 1928 basketball season, Joes High School didn’t even have a gym. Instead, they’d practice outside on a dirt court, and two times a week they’d take a bus to the nearest gym, which was ten miles away. In order to play home games, the boys had to play in the local dance hall. The “court” was nowhere near regulation size, and the ceiling was so short that the boys couldn’t shoot an arched shot. The people who attended these basketball games had no place to sit and watch the game, the all stood around the edges of the court and on the small stage. Joes High School finally got their own gym around Christmas time because the people of Joes donated their time and material in order to make it happen.
Janet really wants to join “Mapes Street baseball” but Richard keeps on saying no to Janet.Because Richards says as long as he's the captain of “Maps Street Baseball” no girl will ever play on the team. Becky wants to join the “Wheels and Brake Boys” “but Becky can't get a bike because he mom keeps saying no” because it's too much money. Janet on the other hand had kept bugging Richard. Two let her in so then Richard had thought about his team because some of the players were hurt or out of town so he had said yes to
...cher began to get livid and threatened to call them in, the school bell rang and the two men scrammed from the building.
A student is overheard saying that “ The yellow team is a much more competitive than the blue team”. The score is Yellow two Blue zero . The yellow team scores and a blue player is thrust to the ground .He went to to ground with the same force as when peeta was electrocuted in the hunger games . The sound of the skin skidding on gym floor were like nails on a chalk board. Although it was a seemingly nasty fall the game continued as if nothing happened. Screams from the benches occupy the eardrums of the students, while girls are overheard gossiping in the corner. The blue team desperately tries to steal the ball back from the yellow but they fail horribly . The game is getting close when the students heard a sound. Ding, the end of the sixth period bell rings and the sweat drenched children depart the room. The gym is ldesolate and filled with the remanence of sixth grade stench . The game is
The thunder and lightning were getting bigger and bigger in the sky. He heard a window crash underneath him and saw kids running around on the wet concrete. “Get back into your houses and stay there until this is all over. I don’t want anybody to get hurt.”
I cursed under my breath and grabbed Annabeth and dashed through the hallway to get to our advisory. I opened the door just as the tardy bell rang and sighed in relief.I slid into the seat next to Annabeth just as the announcements started. I zoned out until our principal yelled through the intercom ,“ We are going into a code-red lockdown, we have a break in!”
“Ring, Ring!” the school bell dismissed the students as a herd of kids sprint down the stairs like a stampede of wild animals. As Summer and her best friend Riley make their way through the staircase they begin discussing what to do for Summer’s poster as a runner for class President.
Hi! I’m Sade McFallen from Eagle Valley High School. This is the story of how I fell in love with a girl named Sarah and was absolutely crushed. Ready to learn about my pathetic life? Good! Here is a narrative of how my life fell in shambles.
It’s a warm sunny day in Vinland elementary school. The sun has made a rare appearance and is lazily creeping through the window, painting the normally grey walls a calming yellow. All the students are sitting at their desk drawing the rows and columns of sheep. Except one little girl. Her appearance matches her Norwegian town with her blond hair and light-colored eyes. She has been sitting at her desk explaining to her answer to her teacher. She did her math using her number and drew her sheep but for explanation all she wrote was “I used my brain.” She doesn’t know why she drew the sheep and writing the she multiplied 3x4 just seems redundant since that’s what the question asked her to do. The teacher wants her to write about how she used
Tim Stephenson was your typical small town, high school student. One day his shop teacher, Mr. Lane, gave an open ended assignment in which the students were to bring the materials from home to build something using the available class tools for woodworking, metallurgy, etc. This assignment was after they proved a certain amount of proficiency with the skill. Tim decided that his family farm could use a new gate for one of its pastures. He began to sketch what he called “the most beautiful gate” on a piece of paper with metal wagon wheels and wrought iron accents.
As we were working, a few more teammates came in. “Hi guys” coach said to them gently. So they started helping us out with the mats. After a few minutes, more teammates came, and them more teammates, and then more teammates, and then more teammates. Once we were done, It was time to go outside and run the mile. “You were not supposed to bring your wrestling shoes because we are running today” the captain told me. “Okay” I said as I was putting the shoes back in my backpack.
West Grove High School, 1989, Camille and her lover Marcus stroll down the hallway holding hands just like always. Today seemed to be just as any other day but little did they both know their world would be rocked forever. From this moment forward nothing would be the same. They say secrets don’t make friends and it seems as if they don’t help you keep relationships either.
Thinking they would go inside the rooms, they just stood outside talking because the school installed steel mesh on all the windows when the staff found out that the kids would crawl out to either visit boyfriends or go to the seven-to-eleven store. She asked what they had for dinner and made fun of it because of what the staff made or how they cooked
Observing their move and listening in to their conversation I came to a realization that they were on the volleyball team. They discussed a previous game and criticized each other on what should be done in certain situations. The sat side by side which one talk the other two listened. They touched note upon who should be starting the next volleyball match, what games are coming up soon, and finally what up and coming parties are taking place. After about ten minutes passed I shifted my attention to the two tall basketball player that were also relatively close to me and the volleyball girls. They discussed how hot and spicy their buffalo wings are, when basketball workouts begin, and who’s looking to win the championship this year. In about five minutes into their conversation they were interrupted by a young lady and a young man. Both the basketball boys and the volleyball girls instantly said hello to them and all of them began to talk about the famous event called “Battle of the Lex”. This event is where all athletes come together and dress up as a character and cheers on the basketball team or volleyball team according one of the tall basketball players. As their conversations went on others began to include themselves in the discussion. Fur girls from the softball team while eating discussed different ideas. Boys from the swimming team also chipped in some ideas. At about 1:15 the whole lounge had a say in the
