I’ve come to learn that is really crucial to have a notepad and writing utensil with me at all times. Sometimes I’m asked to do multiple tasks at a time and by writing them down I know I won’t forget information. Also, during my daily meetings, there are crucial dates and other important information that must be written down.
There are numerous benefits that I have observed by writing important information down. One of them being that it shows my superiors that I’m a responsible employee because I don’t forget information. Another benefit is that I always have something to look back on to remind me of crucial information.
For example, in our weekly subcontractor meetings, I have to write down the scheduled of the progress plan for the upcoming
week. Once the time comes, I have everything written down that was supposed to be done that week so, I can make sure everything is being done as scheduled. Another example happened last week while walking through the site with the quality control inspector. He informed me that some of the rebar was misplaced and needed to be changed and needed to be changed before the concrete pour. I wrote down everything that needed to be changed. I then went to the foreman subcontractor and gave him the list of items needing to be corrected before the scheduled pour. I usually write down important dates and any crucial information from meetings. Also, I write down questions asked by subcontractors so I can later go back to my office and find the answers to their questions
The word evil is defined as profoundly immoral and malevolent. The immoral or unethical things we sometimes find ourselves doing are a result of desperation, confusion and anger. Once we realize what our actions have become, we either feel relieved or guilty, afraid of the possible outcome. Our first instincts are to try and cover up our immoral actions with actions that in our minds will fix the problem; more immoral thoughts and actions. Honesty and truth seem so distant in these situations as our desperation and fear of judgment direct our irrational choices. In Macbeth, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth experience the guilt of their role in the King’s death. As a result, Macbeth does not admit to his crime for fear of his life being taken, but instead plots against Banquo to cover his tracks. Though murder is an extreme case, the same thoughts and morals apply in the situations we face everyday. A lie, in fear of the consequences, can cause more pain and guilt than we intended thus another lie is created which adds strength to the first lie. Evil is a strong word, when heard it creates...
Author, Joan Didion, in her essay, On Keeping a Notebook, expands the importance of keeping a notebook. Didion’s purpose is to elucidate why having and using a notebook is essential and give examples of how to keep one. She adopts a forthright and didactic tone in order to emphasize notebook keeping with her audience. Didion provides rhetorical question, flashbacks, and the use of pathos to support the purpose of writing her essay.
In the article, “Attention, Students: Put Your Laptops Away,” the writer tells the reader differences between taking notes with a laptop or taking them in a notebook. When taking notes with a laptop people have the tendency to write down everything word for word while others cannot help but click a new tab and get on social media. Taking notes word for word has been proven that you do not comprehend what you are writing down. "When people type their notes, they have this tendency to try to take verbatim notes and write down as much of the lecture as they can," Mueller tells NPR's Rachel Martin. After reading the article my opinion is writing notes in a notebook is more beneficial than taking them on a laptop. If I want to excel in school and
Poverty and homelessness are often, intertwined with the idea of gross mentality. illness and innate evil. In urban areas all across the United States, just like that of Seattle. in Sherman Alexie’s New Yorker piece, What You Pawn I Will Redeem, the downtrodden. are stereotyped as vicious addicts who would rob a child of its last penny if it meant a bottle of whiskey.
English 101 is one of the most common college courses in the world. When I enrolled in the class, I was bothered that I would have spend forty hours in a freshman writing class; along with at least another forty hours throughout the semester writing for the class. What surprised me, was that when I began writing my essays I was not annoyed or bothered; I actually enjoyed the assignments. Most importantly, throughout the course of the semester, I have become a better writer and have ultimately met the course goals of English 101.
My biggest improvement in this English 111 class was my writing. Writing tasks that were assigned greatly strengthened my overall performance throughout the course, preparing me for the future classes. The environment made me feel at ease, helping me evolve as a student, and as a person. The environment made me feel at ease, preparing me for future classes. Another large achievement of mine that I displayed in the class, was my ability to talk comfortably with the other students. The variety of group activities we did allowed me to openly speak my opinion, leading to a better overall performance with my work and papers. The English 111 class enabled me to have better participation in and out of class and allowed
“Often fear of one evil leads us into a worse”(Despreaux). Nicolas Boileau-Despreaux is saying that fear consumes oneself and often times results in a worse fate. William Golding shares a similar viewpoint in his novel Lord of the Flies. A group of boys devastatingly land on a deserted island. Ralph and his friend Piggy form a group. Slowly, they become increasingly fearful. Then a boy named Jack rebels and forms his own tribe with a few boys such as Roger and Bill. Many things such as their environment, personalities and their own minds contribute to their change. Eventually, many of the boys revert to their inherently evil nature and become savage and only two boys remain civilized. The boys deal with many trials, including each other, and true colors show. In the end they are being rescued, but too much is lost. Their innocence is forever lost along with the lives Simon, a peaceful boy, and an intelligent boy, Piggy. Throughout the novel, Golding uses symbolism and characterization to show that savagery and evil are a direct effect of fear.
The ATS showed Margaret the features and functions of the LiveScribe pen. The ATS explained how the pen can record class lectures and important information without the worry of taking precise notes. The ATS observed Margaret as she wrote a small note, made a recording and played back the recording from the notebook. Margaret did not have difficulty maneuvering the pen, as she wrote the small note. Margaret stated the pen was a good fit and felt comfortable in her hand as she wrote. After that, the ATS showed Margaret how her notes are transferred from the pen and notebook to the LiveScribe Desktop and how to access her notes and lecture once more. What appealed to Margaret was having the ability to navigate the class lecture using her computer or pen/notebook. The ATS is recommending Margaret is provided with the LiveScribe Echo pen 2 GB and a 4 pack of
3. Writing is important because essays, notes, reminders, reports and other types of communication that require writing are used often within this community. Writing is extremely important regarding research and experiments because you need to remember steps, keep a tab on measurements and amounts, test quality and hypothesis, and write many other things to keep everything on track.
As a student entering the world of AP, it is crucial that you comprehend the challenge ahead of you. Prior to enrolling in Mrs. Walton’s AP English course, I was unaware of the elements of literature and what it truly meant to analyze and comprehend a literary work. The AP Lit. course has allowed me to perceive everything around me with a new perspective; is it symbolic, is this a form of satire, what is the true meaning beyond the surface? As a new AP student, or perhaps a prospective AP English student, it is vital that you are willing to put in the time and effort to succeed in this class, as it is not enough to merely read through your assigned book and believe you have gained a comprehension of it, if necessary, research if you are having
thing about me is that I hate writing anything with a pen and a paper. Most of the time
I might not use these as frequent as other forms of writing, but to me they are very valued. With research papers they are going to be read by other people, such as scientists. They need to be written very well for people in order for them to understand the topics discussed in the research paper. Academic papers are used to grade you and where you are at in your writing capabilities. Lecture notes are valuable because if you have really bad notes, you won’t have anything to study; these terrible notes will ultimately cause you to do badly on exams. Both resumes and forms are important because people aren’t going to know you and the only way for them to see if you are qualified for a certain position is from what you put on the resume and the
Use a calendar or planner to keep track of upcoming events, appointments, and due dates. In order to stay on track, check your planner or calendar daily and write down additional information immediately so you do not forget it.
Of all the things a student needs to make it through a typical day, probably the most important, yet least appreciated, is paper. Paper is used for academic, social, and personal purposes by nearly all students every day. The most obvious use is for the academic or classroom assignment, whether it comes in the form of a test, an essay, or a summary of plant life on Easter Island. The social uses of paper center around the "note," which any student can tell you is s important a part of a student’s social life as Friday night ball games or the Junior Prom. As for the personal applications, there is doodling for the nervous mind, and there is scrunching for the nervous hand.
Getting started, it doesn’t take much to get started, all you need is a pen or pencil, preferably a pencil incase you need to change something, but a wise teacher once told me that his mom asked him a very interesting question, “ What do you use on crossword puzzles, a pen or a pencil,” she then later stated “ I always do mine in pen,” now the reason behind her always doing it in pen is so you know you did it write the first time, and you feel confident in that. The next thing you would or should need is something to write on, this can be anything from a purchased store journal to napkin from a restaurant, although having a booklet of napkins may seem absurd, it doesn’t matter as long as it’s something to take your thoughts down on. The other thing that you should have is a positive attitude, trust me it is helpful in all aspects of life, a great man once said, “ The greatest discovery of my generation is that human being can alter their lives by altering their attitude of mind by William James.” (Pg.88 John Maxwell The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a leader). That’s about all it should take to start a effective journal, so stay focused as we will be going through the Purpose of Journaling.
