Throughout this process of interviewing my friends about their perspective on health, I have learned a great deal of what it actually meant to be healthy and how each person defines it. Fortunately for me, I have friends who come from different backgrounds, therefore I received a very diversified spectrum of responses. While there are many differences between my friends, there were many similarities in their replies, especially the way they described health. My first interview was with one of my best friends and currently my roommate, Braden Curtis. I have known Braden for long time, so interviewing him was very easy and comfortable. I first asked him about his definition of health, and what it meant to him to be healthy. His response was, “Health is not just physical, but it also involves the mind. Mental health goes overlooked and I believe that mental health is just as important, if not more than physical health.” Even though Braden was an athlete in high school, he placed an emphasis on mental health because he values it more than his physical abilities. After asking him more personal questions, I made the realization that Braden has this specific perspective because of his family’s history with mental health. His family has had cases where some members dealt with mental health issues such as depression as well as drug abuse, hence why …show more content…

Unfortunately for me, Simone and I are not that close, as a result, there were many awkward silences and pauses throughout our interview. I wasn’t able to ask personal questions regarding her background, but I was able to gain her definition of health. Her thoughts were very similar to Giulia’s perspective because they both incorporated the importance emotional health when defining health.
