The moment I went to the USD Healthcare Career Camp was one of the best moments in my life so far. I first heard about the camp when my Principles of Biomedical Science teacher told my class to check it out. I received a brochure that went over all that would happen in the 5 days I was there. It included going to the anatomy lab, looking at cadavers, and getting hands on experience in a medical field of our choice. This all sounded cool to me so I got the application for the camp. The application required that I write a 350 word essay dealing with four questions that they provided. The first question simply asked why I would like to attend the camp. The second asked why I would like to pursue a career in the healthcare field. The third and fourth questions asked about a person that has had a significant influence on me and had me write about an issue I had whether it be personal, local, or global. My response for the fourth question was a question that is very prominent and a very scary thought to think about. The issue that I wrote about was over the accidental development of a completely drug resistant superbug. Cleaning, scrubbing and washing, a super bug is slowly formed. I …show more content…
One highlight of the trip was visiting a simulation van that contained a very advanced manikin. This manikin could do a lot of the things a human can like talk, blink, breathe, and even sweat. The man that was running the van explained that the manikins actions and responses were all controlled by him and even told us about some of his prior experiences. He also explained that the simulation could be the difference between life and death in real life. One group of nurses that did the simulation saw a problem in a real patient, fixed it, and saved a man's life while another group that didn’t go through the simulation didn’t spot it and nearly cost a patient their

Surgical Technicians are needed tremendously for a surgical procedure to run smoothly. For surgeries, hospitals and offices are staffed with a trained medical team ready to take action when they are needed too. The most important position beside the surgeon is, a Surgical Technician. ‘A Surgical Technician can be related to how they interact with a patient, how they prepare the tools and operating room for surgery, along with their ability to assist and react to the needs of a surgeon.”
I chose a career as a medical assistant because of the rewards I knew I would experience on a daily basis. Seeing a patient smile because I have helped them understand, or just making them feel comfortable with their visit, is just one of the many perks of my job. Upon graduating from an accredited college such as The College of Health Care Professions (CHCP), I now work for one of the most reputable hospitals in my area. Within two short years of committed studies, I obtained my associate of applied science degree, and then went on to obtain my certification as a medical assistant. There is nothing I have found more fulfilling, strong, secure, or rewarding then choosing to become a medical assistant,
In the beginning of fall of 2016, I got a job as a medical assistant. It’s long process to get this sort of job, at least with the University of Utah so when I finally went through the orientation, lab training, computer training, and community clinics I got to work and realized there was, even more, training. Every clinic has its personal preferences and rules, so I had to start from scratch with the training I already had. As soon as I got therenoticeI was a given a quick tour of the clinic and given all the rules, passwords and regulations. It was already too much to handle, but I was memorizing as much as I could. I can’t always function under pressure, but I tried not to let my nerves get to me.
Once upon a time, it seems, physicians were wise and good, and medicine was an art. That's the feeling I get reading from the Chahar Maqala, tales from a time when doctors diagnosed lovesick princes from a urine sample, a pulse, and a review of local geography.

When I first decided to come to college for nursing after staying in university for three years, I had an argument with my parents because they were not happy with my decision. My parents just wanted me to finish rest of my degree and they thought that it did not make sense to go to college for diploma, and not complete the university degree. However, I just wanted to complete my nursing diploma in the same amount of time that I can finish my degree in the university because I always wanted to be a nurse.
During my observership, my clinic intern mentor was Shiyama Hassan. Overall it was an enjoyable, less stressful academic experience.I got a chance to take patient histories, examination and patient’s vital sign monitoring and charting. I didn’t feel much difference in observing my mentor taking the history and when I was taking the history, it could be related to my past experience. However, every time I was curious to know what is happening with the patients and what caused him to seek naturopathic medical advice. During this clinic shadowing, I saw genuine interest of my mentor and supervisor to help patients concerns, unlike to allopathic model of prescribing medication. It helped me to improve my interviewing skills to look root cause for
Throughout my final ten weeks at my placement, I have grown and overcome so many obstacles. I have accomplished a wide range of skills since the beginning and have been improving on them as I gained experience. At my placement as a student nurse, I have gained a lot of confidence, skills, knowledge and experiences that have helped me act and work in a professional way. All the experiences I have had during the ten weeks of my student years have helped me in shaping me into a professional.
I believe placing student nurses in the clinical setting is vital in becoming competent nurses. Every experience the student experiences during their placement has an educative nature therefore, it is important for the students to take some time to reflect on these experiences. A specific situation that stood out to me from my clinical experience was that; I didn’t realize I had ignored the patient’s pain until I was later asked by the nurse if the patient was in any pain.
Medical interns are surgical residents working to become doctors, so their jobs are very complicated and specific, which may have conflicts along the way such as competition between workers and an overloaded schedule. When Meredith finally gets to the hospital, she walks in while the chief of surgery is giving a very extensive speech that includes the words, “The seven years you spend here as a surgical resident will be the best and worst years of your life. You will be pushed to your breaking point. Look around you, say hello to your competition.” He then also mentions to them about the stress, the long hours, the pressure, and the deaths they will be experiencing throughout the years. He ends the speech saying how
It gave me a chance to apply the knowledges and skills that have acquired in the classroom over the past years and gain a real-world hands-on experience that I can use as stepping stone to advance my career. Thanks to this internship, I now have a better understanding of how the healthcare system operates, how insurance claim process works as well as navigate through electronic health record database without difficulty. A doctor is a surgeon or physician that tends to the medical needs of a person. A doctor is viewed as a smart and confident human being. This is an accurate assumption. A doctor is more than just this, he/she is a person who has devoted his/her life to studying the human body. "A doctor should be opaque to his patients and, like a mirror, should show them nothing but what is shown to him" Sigmund Freud.
