I want to truly thank you for the opportunities you have provided me over the course of my time here at Lowe’s. It truly saddens me to have to say this, especially to you. With much thought and consideration I am going to have to decline the promotion that I was recently appointed. Not only am I going to have to forgo this position, I am also requesting to go part-time as my schedule is about to change. Let me be the first to tell you, I have inquired other options that would work better pertaining a work life balance. The reason I ventured out and looked around was, because I want to continue my education. Actually, I need to continue my education, it has been brought to my attention that the responsibilities I have recently taken on is going to cause a huge …show more content…
conflict. Not just a conflict for me but also my performance at work and at school. I personally feel the level of respect I have for you as a supervisor and a person, you deserve better. Me working with no flexibility is going to cause an issue, an issue with my performance and I do not want that to occur.
So, I feel it would be in everyone’s best interest if you would consider letting me go back to part-time. This was a very difficult decision for me especially since you felt I was qualified and tested me in so many different roles. But, I have a life plan and I want to do things differently in my life which is going to require me to further my education. Just as Lowe’s states we are constantly evolving and I am evolving into the individual I feel I need to become. As a company Lowe’s states “they are dedicated to their employees and their growth.” I have a lot of growing to do and I hope that you will allow me to continue inside of Lowe’s as well as outside of Lowe’s. All of the things I want to achieve in life is what Lowe’s states and shapes each employee to be. I am truly hoping I can continue to be apart of this Lowe’s family, you all have taught me so much such as: patience, multi-tasking, stepping out of comfort zone and taking leadership steps when necessary. I still have a lot of growing to do as an individual and I am hoping this family will allow me to grow some more here. I also understand you are running a business and must do what is right for the business and everyone
who is involved. I am just hoping that our last days of working together aren’t coming to a close.
The method of depreciation the company uses is the straight-line method. The straight-line method is the most common method of calculating deprecation; therefore, it makes logical sense that this is the method that Lowe's Home Improvement uses.
In his essay, "Why Colleges Shower Their Students With A’s,” Staples claims that student grades are increasing for the wrong reasons, causing college degrees to become meaningless. Staples provides evidence that average grades have increased significantly over the last several decades, but claims that it is not because students are working harder. The real explanation for grade inflation, he argues, is the effect of grades on both students and their professors. Teachers give more A’s to receive better evaluations and increase job security. Students give more importance to their grades as a result of the rapidly increasing cost of a college education. Staples argues that modern
1. The Statement that best summarizes Nemko’s position is, “College is a chain saw. Only in certain situations is it the right tool,” because most of their argument talks about why college isn’t for everyone, and why more people should pursue an alternative path.
I am Nursing major and with that degree to become a Nurse Practitioner who specializes in the Cardiovascular System to reduce the rate of heart diease in America. I am a hardworking individual and I take my academics very seriously. I understand that I am at school for a purpose and know my purpose is to further my education. I am just trying to make it. My parents always told me growing up “ In order to get something you never had that I will have to do things I have never done.” No one prepared me for college, because I am a first generation college student. In addition to being a first generation college student ; I am also a first generation high school graduate. I use my my parents trials and tribulations as my motivation, because I want
"Graduation" is an excerpt of the autobiographical book, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, written by Maya Angelou. While the book is autobiographical in nature, this particular excerpt is much discussed amongst literary circles because of Angelou's use of both objective and subjective narration.
Graduating early is when you graduate before you are suppose to. It was never common because no one ever seemed to think about it or want to put in the work to do it. For a long time high school was defined as the best time of your life. Everyone who spoke to you always said when you left you would miss it. No one really wanted to graduate early for that reason. People wanted to cherish the time they had in high school because they knew they only got to go through it once. It was a big idea to live up to. Senior year has this belief attached to it. It means a lot to people because it is their last year of high school and it was upsetting to know that you’d be leaving the people you have spent the last four years with. People thought you had to have as much fun as possible in high school and do all kinds of crazy things before you turned 18: when you would be considered and punished as an adult. Now those times have changed. High school is not looked upon as the best times of your life anymore. It is looked upon in almost a negative way. High school has changed a lot and it is not very enjoyable now. There are lots of reasons why someone would want to graduate early. For instance, maybe the student was bullied, maybe the student decided they wanted to move on and go to college, maybe the student got sick of their home life and wanted to move forward, or like me, maybe the student has their future waiting for them and all they need is to graduate high school so they could begin it.
After years of education from K-12 there is still the question if a high school senior is academically prepared for college. Furthermore, it may be understandable for a concerned parent to pose this question but what about the student? In a survey of W.VA seniors, MMM MMM points out that “12.4 percent of survey respondents said they felt ‘very prepared’ for college, while . . . 10.7 percent felt they were ‘not prepared at all” (8). In these long years of education we expect students to be ready, but what does it mean to be ready for college? Needless to say, there is an issue with high school students being prepared for college. But in order to classify someone as being ready for college or not we have to come to a common understanding of what it means. A student that needs to take additional education to have the knowledge to be prosperous is not considered college ready (What Does College and Career Readiness Mean). When a High school senior leaves home and goes off to college he/she should have the potential to make all A’s throughout college. A student is college ready when he/she has acquired characteristics and skills from K-12, which include time management, perseverance, a drive to become successful, and a working knowledge of basic subjects: these can be reflected through, but not limited to, standardized test and the individuals GPA.
It has been too long since you have heard from me, the most caring mother out there. I can’t help myself but be here for you, whether you think you need a wise mothers words or not. Infact, a mother knows what's best for her child, that is just a fact. Now, I know how much you enjoy being independent, as you are this gifted writer so, all I am asking is for you to just read and take into consideration of my thoughts for what is best for you. I am so proud of all of your hard work and this big spontaneous move, New York! I know you have many dilemmas in your life right now, that I have heard spiraling all around you in different directions. Your cousin Daisy, wrote to me and filled me in on so much I had never heard about. I felt like I didn't even know you with all the things she was saying and the hard paths you must be going through right now. Seeing you mentioned in different articles did not help your case either. I don't want to seem like a wacky helicopter mom, just know I love you so profoundly. let me first go over all the predicaments you're in so we can make a plan. Besides, acceptance is the first key to recovery!
Educators revisited ways to improve the graduation rate of students in The New York Times article, “Revamping Community Colleges to Improve Graduation Rates” by Alina Tugend. Five steps listed which led to changes at community colleges across the country to improve graduation rates were: offer more aligned courses, demand less remedial math and English courses, combine remedial courses with the corresponding subject courses, ensure better counseling services for academic and personal issues, and decrease the amount of tuition. Changes mentioned in this article, “Revamping Community Colleges to Improve Graduation Rates” that help students acquire degrees from community colleges across the United States.
When developing curriculum at the program level ensure that the outcomes are clear statements of performance and expected achievements from graduates which are reflected in program outcome statements. “Program outcomes are statements that describe what learners will know and be able to do when they graduate from a program” ("Building curriculum at," 2012). Program outcomes should include three basic elements: vocational standards, essential employability skills, and general education requirements and should describe significant and durable learning objectives of what the learner will be able to demonstrate at the end of the program.
Thank you so much for your time, and giving me the opportunity to come into your work environment and let me job shadow you. I was bummed out when I thought I wasn’t going to be able to job shadow you because your schedule was booked, but when you told me I could do it after spring break I was so excited. I realized I procrastinated in setting up a job shadow with you, but it ended up working out. Since it was the day back from spring break and it was a catch up day for the kids, we had so much time to talk and I learned a lot about the job of a middle school teacher. I really like the idea of moving to Hawaii or Alaska for a few years to teach, I haven’t told my mom that yet though. And all the information you gave me on what degrees to get
I love you with all my heart, and it is past time for me to walk that walk - and not just talk the talk anymore. I can almost hear the doubt in your voice as you read this (the "Um huh" I've heard from you so often when I shared with you my next great idea). All I can say is, hold me to that, and you will see it is true. Thank you for the past three decades together, for all the memories, good and bad; the opportunities to grow, the sharing and caring we experienced; the love we made, and the magical history we created. I am ready to spend the next thirty years repeating this magic with you - except raising another set of kids
Graduation is an exciting time in a person’s life, especially a high school graduation. When I think of family and friends gathering together to celebrate a joyous occasion, I feel I accomplished my strongest goal. It never occurred to me that graduation would be the end of my youth and the start of adulthood. Graduating from high school was an influential event that gave me an altered outlook on my existence. Life before graduation, preparing for graduation day, and commencement day overwhelmed me for reality.
But most of all I want to thank all of the Career and Technical Education students that are here to welcome the new Administration and yet again show their abilities, readiness and desire to be responsible leaders in the career path they have chosen. How about a round of applause to all of these hard working guys and gals who are the future of our country. “Applause” We are here today because we have faith in in you! We’re here because we want to make sure that you get all the skills and education you need to reach your dreams and desires. We’re here because we know your dreams are so big and astonishing and also realize that you need all the support you can get! We’re here because we know one of the best ways is through career and technical education also known as CTE. Thanks again, for letting me and your new school board be part of your dream! “Applause”
But the point here is to understand that career change isn’t always the answer for unhappiness in your job. Just because you are unhappy in your current role, doesn’t mean you should move on to a completely new industry. Don’t be disillusioned in thinking the answer is always career change.
