I was bummed out when I thought I wasn’t going to be able to job shadow you because your schedule was booked, but when you told me I could do it after spring break I was so excited. I realized I procrastinated in setting up a job shadow with you, but it ended up working out. Since it was the day back from spring break and it was a catch up day for the kids, we had so much time to talk and I learned a lot about the job of a middle school teacher. Summary: In the essay, “Part-time Employment Undermines a Student’s Commitment to School” by Laurence Steinberg, it explains how studies show that teenagers that work while attending school are more likely to loose their commitment to school. Steinberg tells the effects on students when they work more than twenty hours a week. His theory was that students are more susceptible to losing their interest in school, while working. They may have to work in the evening time, which can interfere with homework, sleep and diet. Steinberg also elaborated on how these students that work receive money that can make school seem less desirable. Also because they do receive money, they can use their extra money to become associated with drugs and alcohol.
I hope that you can see my education and future are advancing as we speak. This doesn’t mean I haven’t had a few bumps in the road, because I have. Actually, some of the bumps have unfortunately been financial aid. But, I am growing. It is a day to day continual experience of growth and it’s exciting for me to see where it takes me. Child labor is a practice that deprives children of their childhood, their potential, and their dignity and includes over 200 million children worldwide who are involved in the production of goods for companies and industries willing to exploit these kids for profit. Although most countries have laws prohibiting child labor, a lack of funding and manpower means that these laws are rarely enforced on a large scale. However, even for a first-world country like the United States, that has a large number of state and federal law enforcement officers, child labor is still a problem because priority is given to crimes that are more violent or heinous. Child labor must be made a priority issue because it is a global plague whose victims are physically and psychologically scarred, lack a proper education, are impoverished, and whose children are doomed to the same fate if nothing changes.
Child labor refers to the employment of children in any work that deprives them from enjoying and living their childhood properly, it also intervenes in the process of attending school regularly. It creates a mental, physical, social and moral impact on the child.

In early childhood, friendships are associated with a particular activity. During middle childhood, children focus more on bonds and trust when it comes to making friends. Children start to use selective association meaning that children start to pair off with people that have the same interests as them. Sociable kids are attracted to other sociable kids and children who are shy tend to get left behind.
A choice is among all young pre-teens and their parents that come along the end of their middle school education, and on the cusp of their high school careers. The choice is that of a Classical College Preparatory High School or the Career Technical High School which will layout how there future unravels and for different outcomes will be had for each path. It is very common that many high school students hold part time jobs while going to school. When these teens work, they are able to learn and experience life lessons from ethical and moral work. Knowing that school is aways and should be a priority, students should work while in high school because working helps students be more responsible with their lives, help them practice time managment, and also helps students see and experience the real world.
Young adolescents can be described as ages 10-15 years old, but it is also considered that adolescence continues until the age of 25. During this time in an adolescent’s life there are many internal and external factors that affect the development of each individual. The influence that an adolescent’s peers, parents, and community have on them can be conflicting and therefore cause stress. Trying to meet the expectations of others during a time where one is going through so many forms of physical, psychological, and cognitive development can be trying for a middle school aged student. They are expected to focus on their education and the expectation of other outside influences while their bodies are growing and developing into an adult body. When development happens differently for these kids it can affect their psychological development if they focus too much on how fast, or slow they are developing in comparison to their peers. Some adolescents may let their peers influence their behaviors creating a problem with how they interact with others, or how they view themselves as a person. The middle school is a place where students are guided through these developmental experiences with the help of their peers, teachers, administrators, parents and community.

Youth unemployment is a notable, prevalent complication in society that is typically attributed to personal misfortune, economic change and lost opportunities (ManpowerGroup, 2012). The drastic upsurge in youth unemployment rates, which presently stand at 12.7%, more than twice the aggregate unemployment rate, originally began when the Global Financial Crisis (GFC) transpired resulting in levels of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) receding along with national revenue, making it a grievous challenge for Australian youth to procure employment (Trading Economics, 2014). As of today, 260,000 young Australians aged 15-24 are unemployed, 100,000 more than prior to the GFC in August of 2008 (Henry, 2014).

Statistics only consider youths who have attained the required age of employment who are willing and able to work but without jobs. Unemployment rates raise concerns in all economies. However, the rate and trends vary from one country to another irrespective of the country’s development status. For instance, in Cuba, Sierra Leone and Germany, youth unemployment rates were below 10% as per the year (Petersen & Mortimer, 2011). Sierra Leone is a developing country while Germany is a developed country yet their youth unemployment rates are comparable. On the other hand, youth unemployment rates in South Africa, Armenia and Spain were above 50% as per the year 2010 (Petersen & Mortimer, 2011). In most countries, youth unemployment rate is more than double as compared to an unemployment rate in people above the age of 24 years. Canada is not an exemption as the youth unemployment rate is raising major concerns. In the recent years, issues of youth unemployment have dominated political debates and social forums. More and more youths are leaving institutions of higher learning to end up being jobless. A considerable proportion of the youths are doing jobs that are below their level of educations. Organizations are raising standards in jobs where jobs previously performed by high school leavers are being given to diploma and degree holders. I hope that I can continue to provide that satisfaction of learning to my future students and experience the pride and joy that the students will feel when the material finally clicks. Becoming a teacher would be a dream come true for me, and I hope that I can have the opportunity to purse this dream during my lifetime. I hope that with hard work this dream can become a reality. In essence, I want to pursue this career more than anything because I really want to inspire and shape the future generation. I know that they have what it takes to make a difference in the world, but they need teachers who can point them in the right direction.
