Lil Durk Set It Off Analysis

Cha-Ching$ everyone loves money. The rapper that i am presenting in the first appearance is, Lil Durk, his music represents the new generation of rap genre, which has its fair share of money in his great songs. Both good and bad at times of the moment.
There are many songs that tell us that money is important, and how you have to work for it.
Most people take it for granted and just waste it, but some people growing up never really had it. So they do not know how it feels to be able to get what they want whenever they want. Some people have to do bad things just to get by and make it.
It is nice to have money and to know that you have it. Lil Durk in his song “Set It Off” talks about how even if he has a lot of money he would still not change

up on his family and friends. In his his song he said “I just told my people i can’t go broke no more”, which means he will not have to struggle for anything money can buy and whatever he has to do he will have money at all times. He said “I bought my mom a new crib”, his intentions are to become something and buy his mom a new house. Durk said “no more rent money being late”, so now that he actually bought her a house and his own house he owes nothing to anyone. He wants to become bigger than what he is now, “i was tired of being broke and i was tired of being poor”, so he finally figured he would do something about it and now he is set.
Other rapper’s of this generation are Chief Keef,G Herbo, and, Lil Bibby. In Chief Keef’s song “Kay Kay”, he said “me and my people we balling”, as in they are making plenty of money. G Herbo said in his song “The Drop”, that he is going to “ get rich or go trying way before i hit 50”, which means he is going to do all he can to get rich, before he hits 50 years old. G Herbo made a song called “Play They Role”, they said “I be countin stacks steady countin stacks add more to it then i count em back”, every song talks about money. Everyone of their songs are about how they are coming up.
Some people think that money is the key to happiness, but for some people it’s not easy to money when your parents have to work everyday just to keep a roof over your head. So when you grow up, you want to pay them back and help them out for once. That’s what my thesis is really about, is that it’s all that growing up you did when you was young and how coming up and making something of yourself. Money can help a lot and that is the goal for a lot of people and they will do their best to achieve it.
