Money Is Only a Tool in One’s Life
Money has a big impact on the quality of life because a person is possibly manipulated by the material world. Money is a known predator, which cons unsuspecting people into trusting it to exploit the weakness in their hearts. Anyone who cannot control his/her own greed will eventually fall under its charm and will hardly be able to live on without it. However, while it is true that money makes the world go round, being too dependent on it will not lead anywhere. Generally, money is only a tool rather than a purpose in life because the corrupting influence of money can detract from quality of life by promoting the false idea of how money can create a better quality of life.
I have always asked myself what exactly defines the quality of life. Perhaps, this spectrum of life relies more on spiritual and moral perception; it can vary from person to person such as mutual understanding, happiness, success, and so on. As people acknowledge the importance of money, they are more likely to work for it to serve their needs without realizing it cannot provide happiness. Let us take the sumptuous life in Hollywood as an example. Media has shown us how celebrities spend their enormous money on vacations, expensive jewels, and luxurious cars and so on; everyone would want a life like that. However, people do not see what secret lies behind the scene. The celebrities have to pretend their lives are flawless because they cannot show their problems to the world. Philip Seymour Hoffman, the American actor, was dead due to an accidental drug overdose. He made a lot of money but he was clearly not happy or satisfied with his life. He had possibly tried to hide his spiritual depression by using drugs, whic...

...eir quality of life. Perhaps, these are clear examples of how money does not control people and they still can help and be productive in the world. Nevertheless, if people know how to use money in a right place at a right time, they will be able to have their own happiness.
It is very important that people acknowledge awareness about money and its value so that they can use money as a tool without detracting their quality of life. Even though people need money for living expenses, they should be able to reasonably limit their demand by distinguish the difference between normal and luxury goods. People eat when they are hungry and stop eating when they are full. However, if people thirst for money, there is no limitation for their greed. In other word, people should focus on nourishing their inner beauty to enhance their quality of life and avoid mistakes.
Money is something that can either be used for the greater good of society, or it can be contorted into something that is detrimental to society, it all depends on whose hands that money happens to fall into. Human tendencies begin to change once people come to have money, the lavish and selfish lifestyle begins. Entitlement comes with having money because money gives people what they want which makes people think they are entitled to get everything they want. In The Great Gatsby Fitzgerald portrays that money is the root of all problems with can ultimately lead to loneliness and careless behavior.
A well-known expression is that money can’t buy happiness, yet people fantasize of winning the lottery, living in their dream house, and possessing enough tangible objects to feel satisfied with their lives. Most are under the preconceived notion that the absence of wealth and power translates to hardship and despair. This, however, is not the case, because a self-effacing lifestyle is not an indication of a lower quality of life, and often is better than one of great fortune. People yearn to have the financial independence and capabilities of those in higher ranking positions, and are willing to abandon their morals and own personal well-being if it means being successful. It seems that by reaching a level of wealth in which money is no longer
He further shows us that the people of today are richer than their grandparents but are not happier in their lives (from National Statistics of social pathology). Even with these facts, people in the United States still believe if they had more money all of their problems would be solved, but once they reach that next income bracket they are not satisfied and try to reach the next one. Myers et al tells us, "even if being rich and famous is rewarding, no one ever claimed material success alone makes us happy. Other conditions like - family- friends- free time - have been shown to increase happiness" (Csikszentmihaly 145). therefore we must find balance in our own lives, and not just focus on making money. Instead we need friends, family and even free time, as aforementioned doing an activity you enjoy such as listening to music or
According to Freud’s conclusion, based on decades of experimentation and theoretical work in the field of psychotherapy, humans cannot be happy because a satisfaction of needs creates only a momentary phase of happiness which expires after some time. Therefore, the focus of life should not be on obtaining happiness, and people should focus on avoiding suffering instead (Bullock, n.d.). However, several paradigms of well-being exist, and individual cognitive patterns and paradigms define the emotional responses to social influences. From an objective viewpoint, well-being is a state of consciousness that arises from a combination of internal and external factors, and money is an unstable external influence in defining subjective well-being. Money as a determinant of subjective well-being is influenced by several cultural influences.
According from the film, lesson Number four “Many people think that happiness comes from having more power or more money.” For example, Edward is a businessman in China who always felt happier by having a lot of money. He always uses his money on any situations he wants, and people treat him like a boss. That’s why when Hector asks Edward, “What is your happiness?” Edward said, “Money is my happiness.” It shows money is a part of life and a part of the happiness. It can buy anything you want, and it also can help you easily becomes VIP in restaurants or clubs. That’s why people want to work hard become rich. Although they are getting old, they don’t want to retire and fear any loss of money. That makes Hector writes down, “A lot of people think happiness means being richer or more important.” This statement points out what happens to the society right now. And Hector also feels it. It reflects the overuse of people with money. Further, everyone thinks money can make us feel happy and we can buy the happiness. However, does money really true to buy the happiness? That’s why the movie shows us money is important, but it is not everything. The movie tries to explain it, but it also said that without money you couldn’t be
For some, happiness is all that matters. Happiness is achieved in many ways, and it doesn’t always involve money. There are many things that contribute to making a person feel happy and successful. One can feel successful without a lot of money at all. For example, feeling loved is something that makes everyone happy. Many believe that without love life is not thoroughly complete, thus never truly achieving success. Ones line of work can also affect how happy he is. Some feel that it is more important to enjoy work and get less money than it is to hate work and get paid more. Another factor in achieving psychological success is ones ability to enjoy what life gives him. There are many qualities of life that are overlooked. Everyone is dealt family and it is important to value that.

Happiness is a universal feeling and it is most commonly associated with a smile. In many countries there are different levels of happiness, in our country happiness is a goal that we all have. The obstacle to achieving this goal is “finding” happiness, which is an idea, not an object, and it can be hard to find. Many people try to find happiness by using books, videos, or listening to motivational speakers. The argument about money and if it can bring happiness is prevalent today and can be an engaging topic.
Money and Happiness are two things that we have all given a lot thought. We put lots of effort into these two things either trying to earn them or trying to increase them. The connection we make between money and happiness is strange because they are two very different concepts. Money is tangible, you can quantify it, and know exactly how much of it you have at any given time. Happiness, on the other hand, is subjective, elusive, has different meanings for different people and despite the efforts of behavioral scientist and psychologist alike, there is no definitive way to measure happiness. In other word, counting happiness is much more difficult than counting dollar bills. How can we possibly make this connection? Well, money, specifically in large quantity, allows for the freedom to do and have anything you want. And in simplest term, happiness can be thought of as life satisfaction and enjoyment. So wouldn’t it make sense that the ability to do everything you desire, result in greater satisfaction with your life.
Happiness is a difficult word to define. Everyone possesses different perspectives of happiness from their own experience. Some people would say money can buy you happiness because they buy you friends, while others disagree. From my own perspective, I personally believe money could not buy eternal joy into your life. Money could buy you the basic needs in life for example food. Having a lot of money could be used to purchase fancy and expensive goods, but the happiness would only be limited. Besides that, money cannot buy you the emotions like love. Money is desired by everyone, but it can’t buy you everything, for example: your health or a deceased loved one and the memories made with them. Happiness is not determined by what your bank account

..., a person who earns $25,000 is happier than a person who makes $125,000 and an employee who makes $500,000 is only slightly happier than someone who makes $55,000. Lastly, there are more important things in life that and make you happy, for example, friends. They don’t come with a price tag, and if they do, you definitely need new friends. Money won’t make you happy since good times can’t be bought. You don’t need a fancy vacation to have a good time; it’s just a matter of who you spend it with. Over the years, humans have blown the value of money way out of proportion. People make it seem like if you’re not filthy rich, then you won’t live a good life but it’s not true. You can lack money and yet still live a perfect, happy life.
Money has become the first priority in peoples’ life. It has become the necessity for being success. Many believe that money is the only way to success. They work hard to earn a lot of money and to make their life more comfortable and easy. Once Bill Gates said, ”If you were born poor, that’s not your fault, but if you die poor that’s your fault.” So many people run after money throughout their life to become success. Some people also believe popularity as being success. People work hard throughout their life to become a renowned person in this world and believe they need to look rich in order to be
Acquiring things like houses and cars only has a transient effect on happiness. People’s desires for material possessions crank up at the same, or greater rate, than their salaries. Again, this means that despite considerably more luxurious possessions, people end up no happier. There’s even evidence that materialism makes us less happy. People don’t shift to enjoyable activities when they are rich.... ...
