Searching happiness in love, fear, and money

“Hector and the Search for Happiness” film by Peter Chelsom demonstrates what happiness looks like and how come it is important to our life in depth and in an entertaining way. The movie demonstrates many things across the movie, but the three main things that being emphasized the most were love, fear, and money. These points are connected very strongly and affect almost all of our happiness because we cannot miss any points of it in the modern life, and it is motivating make us happy.

Fear is the opposite emotion to love, but it is also contributing and great element to our happiness. The fear of death can be making people feel happy because at the moment, you cannot think anything more dangerous than happiness. Each moment will go back to your brain and shows up all of the happiness in your life since you were a little. Such as the scene of Hector is in Africa, when two men kidnap him to the big old house, and begin to leave him alone. He feels very scared and terrible. In this circumstance, he cannot do anything or think any further. He just wants to see his friends and someone can help him to get out of there. He tries to yell and makes some noise for people pay attention to him. However, nobody cares about him. He has to sleep in the darkest light, and dirty floor with a small mouse. He can’t eat anything at all. He has to eat all the candies left in his hat, but the simple action of him makes people think fear can be shared by dividing the candy into a half piece when he sees the mouse comes out. That action emphasized animal can connect the happiness with the human. Although it is as easy as pie, it makes him feel that he is not alone, and he can share something to the mouse. According from the film, lesson Number four “Many people think that happiness comes from having more power or more money.” For example, Edward is a businessman in China who always felt happier by having a lot of money. He always uses his money on any situations he wants, and people treat him like a boss. That’s why when Hector asks Edward, “What is your happiness?” Edward said, “Money is my happiness.” It shows money is a part of life and a part of the happiness. It can buy anything you want, and it also can help you easily becomes VIP in restaurants or clubs. That’s why people want to work hard become rich. Although they are getting old, they don’t want to retire and fear any loss of money. That makes Hector writes down, “A lot of people think happiness means being richer or more important.” This statement points out what happens to the society right now. And Hector also feels it. It reflects the overuse of people with money. Further, everyone thinks money can make us feel happy and we can buy the happiness. However, does money really true to buy the happiness?
