The volunteer program I am a part of that does not have a policy & procedure manual is my church’s Children’s Ministry program called LifeKids. I have had the privilege of helping a lot in this department and I know that making a manual will cause the other volunteers to feel security, motivate growth, and make it easier for new people to join the program. As the Volunteer Management Handbook states, “Volunteers are busy people who offer their time and skills but who expect rewarding work, clarity of expectations, thorough training, ongoing support, and responsible and respectful management in return.” (Connors, T.D. p. 156) In implementing these policies I will not be taking away people’s freedom, but instead becoming respectful of the time …show more content…
This person is not allowed to lead, change diapers, take kids on a potty run or perform any other function similar to a kid’s ministry volunteer.
• A parent who would like to come in and hang out so that they can familiarize themselves with the kids ministry – They will be asked to allow us to do a background check and after it has cleared, they can observe. This must be done graciously and delicately. We want the message to be one of safety, not of distrust. We also recognize that by allowing a parent to observe, we are able to then visit with them about volunteering. They are always welcome to observe from the windows as well.
• A visitor from another church who is here to learn more about kids ministry – They will be directed to the Children’s Ministry Pastor. She will schedule a time to chaperone the visitor on their class observation.

In my paper I will talk about my visit to The Community Church at Murphy's Landing (CCML). I have chosen this particular Church because it is a family church type and my neighbor goes there and she encouraged me to go with her. I went there with my neighbor on April 6, 2014.This church is an appropriate for this assignment because the people there are welcoming me with an open heart and they are willing to help and provide me with information. When I visit the Church’s site I read these words “We know visiting a new church can be intimidating. But, we want to help you to be as comfortable as possible when and if you join us”. The people gather in the church weekly to glorify God in joyful worship. The expressions of worship on CCML take many forms a prayer, a hymn of reverent awe, a guitar ringing with a chorus of praise, or a warm handshake and a welcoming smile. Their weekly services begin at 9:30 each Sunday at church. Also, they have weekly podcast if anyone wants to listen online. They have many types of services for parents, kids and students. People at CCML were so friendly; they gather around me and start welcoming me, one by one. People there introducing themselves to me, one after another and provide me with their contact information and help. Then we start talking about the church services and Christianity in particular. The mission of CCML was knowing, growing and loving. They seek to live out our mission by worshipping together as a local community of believers, growing in spiritual maturity through discipleship, education, and small groups, caring for one another within the context of the larger church body and small groups, and Communicating the love of Christ to our world, both through local outreach and global mis...

Not to mention, they have a high number of volunteers; therefore, they do not have a shortage on volunteers. According to Linda Hartenian, “Agencies that depend on direct (point-of-service) volunteers are more likely to bring volunteers on board and use the performance feedback process to guide any needed improvements” (Hartenian). In this case, RMH tries to receive feedbacks from their volunteers to see what changes they need to make in order for the organization to become more successful and enjoyable for others. As a whole, RMH are looking for volunteers who comes to help as a good deed rather than for themselves such as needing volunteer hours or to have it on a resume. In “Toward a Better Understanding of Volunteering for Nonprofit Organizations: Explaining Volunteers’ Pro-Social Attitudes” it states that, “ our results suggest that being a younger volunteer is positively correlated with higher levels of values and reasons for volunteering that are self-focused” (Briggs, Gregory, & Peterson). In this case, the RMH are looking for volunteers who want to help as a good deed rather than for volunteer hours or to have on a resume. They are looking for someone
In conclusion, teachers who share their worldview with their students and encourage them to also expand and develop their own biblical worldview are giving their students a whole integrated education. The hope of a teacher should be that what their students learn will carry them through life by always seeing everything through the lens of God’s
The first requirement for a good program for young children and any other children are the safety provided for them. Children should feel safe in their surroundings in the program that they will enter. Parents should always ask and know the safety precautions each program serves. Knowing the precaution the program does to visitors, drop off and pick ups, and around the whole facility is important. A good program should have a policy for visitors. It is also important to know that the program has a good policy for children’s drop off and pick up. To assure a secure facility to the safety of the children a program should not only be safe for them but for the whole environment.
Throughout this course we have discussed through the scriptures ways of helping our students learn and grow in God’s word. It is our duty to model God’s lessons in our daily lives and in our

Hey, everyone, I am Jasmine a Junior here at GCU who is about to graduation on December I finish in three years instead of four because I would not take the summers off for a break instead of would be taking more classes to get ahead. My degree is in Business Management and I am coursing taking this class, Human Resources, Strategic Management Taxation and Marriage and Family classes. I live in Phoenix where I plan on staying after graduating school but course life happens so if I have to move because of work or because of my spouse I will. As when it comes to volunteering I do not know yet I plan on finding out what I can do around the school to get a volunteer. If anyone can give me ideas that would be great, I mostly can after 6 since that's
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."
“Guess what I signed you up for?” “What?” I ask my mom worried. “Community service at the Boys and Girls Club!”, “You get to spend the day with little kids!” As soon as I heard these words, my heart started to race, I was filled with anxiety. How could I find any joy in this experience, I have two younger cousins and I can barely interact with them without getting flustered. I had no clue how I would be able to handle so many unfamiliar children. Should I be all no-nonsense; we do things my way? Or should I allow them to do whatever they want, within reason of course. The day had arrived for me to go to the Boys and Girls Club. As I walk through the doors of the community center, I realize two things; one, I was more nervous than I thought
I met Shahill the summer of 2014 as a Childcare Licensing Inspector for the Department of Family and Protective Services. He was the first caregiver I encountered after entering the interfaith child care center. During a typical inspection, you get name of each employee, observe the child-to-caregiver interactions, calculate classroom ratios, and check for hazards in the child care center. The background check analysis is completed at the end of the walkthrough during the exit interview with the
A reflection of my volunteering experience can be summarized in two words: Life-changing. It is hard to explain the feelings that occur when you involve yourself in selfless acts for your community, such as volunteering. There is a feeling in your heart that you cannot ignore, maybe it is the happiness you feel or the overflow of emotions in helping others. In other words, it is a feeling in which you want to share with others. Maybe with a friend, maybe a classmate, maybe a family member, or maybe even a stranger. Either way, spreading how life-changing volunteering can be is a great start to making a positive change in your community by simply by involving others.
A common misconception about volunteering is that it only helps the cause. Often times that aspect is the only part that is highlighted when the topic of donating time comes up. There is a different side of volunteering though. Many volunteers donate their time to help better the community they live in and the people that live in it. When they choose to do this they not only help others but they are also helping better themselves. Volunteering benefits a person by building connections with peers, improving family life, expanding career skills, overcoming self doubt, having lasting life impressions, and creating new opportunities.
The church needs to make this type of commitment to their youth programs and follow the words of Jesus in Deuteronomy 6:6-7. Furthermore, simple by just reading books like a one by Mr. DeVries and implementing his ideas and concepts.
