This week as we move forward in our program, we begin to reach into learning who we are as students and as learners. Each student was asked to assess themselves to discover both our strengths and weaknesses. We were given the assessment through our reading assignment and it was a short survey to rate ourselves on how well we thought we performed in certain areas. I found it to be interesting, but also an affirmation of things I knew about myself. My weaknesses came as no surprise as they are things that I have dealt with in the past. I am headstrong and often like to do things my own way. This is why I learned that seeking support from others, listening, and knowing how I learn were all things that I could have scored better on. (Bethel University, 2014) Other issues of concern were positive visualization and optimism as well as energy level. I often jump into things and then become discouraged if they don't …show more content…
This will be done through practice and repetition. I plan to take the advice of my instructors as well as my peers and build my skill with their constructive criticism. Through reading assignments, I have already picked up great tips such as paying attention to grammar, reading my work aloud, and allowing myself time to think on my writing before submitting it. (Bethel University, 2014) This tips alone have already given me areas to focus and grow. Becoming a better writer will only help me in the future. It will help me to build credibility among my coworkers and those in higher positions. I plan to utilize this skill to grow higher as I present assignments that are better written and better planned. I hope that one day I can put these new found skills into practice when I am writing a resume or cover letter. Improved writing skills will only improve my ability to grow in my current position as well as opening doors to future positions.
I believe that everyone has their own strength and weaknesses, but not everyone is able to figure out their strengths and weaknesses correctly. Knowing our own strengths and weaknesses is essential because it can help to achieve success in anything we choose to do. For me, my weakness is the time management, communication skills and weak in preparing effective Curriculum Vitae (CV) Below will be further explaining all my personal weaknesses and the ways to overcome it.
The weakness I portray are very difficult for me to think of. I know that I have quite a few but to change them is something that I have not full conquered yet. A weakness I know I have is sentence structure. I am not very good at putting sentences together and making them strong and well developed. Another weakness that is obvious is word choice. I don't always know the exact wording to use in different parts of a paper, this makes it hard to understand sometimes not very well written.
When demonstrating my growth as a writer across several pieces, there are four main learning outcomes in which I have focused on. These include writing, reading, researching and reflecting. Within these learning outcomes, there are many different conventions and ways to understand my various projects and assignments as a writer. Throughout the English 1020 class, I have been able to observe not only my previous strengths, but myself growing as a writer by improving my ability to find strong sources as well as properly citing and explaining them, forming a more logical paragraph structure, and many more conventions when writing an assignment.
After reading the essay On Writing by Stephen King, it was apparent that improving writing skills is important. The beginning to forming a better career is to first read because “one learns most clearly what not to do by reading bad prose”. (King) Improving writing skills can further improve verbal communication skills and help to advance in life. When someone improves their writing skills, they can then improve their verbal communication skills. Improving both verbal and written communication skills will lead to a better career path.
My biggest weakness that I have would have to be my organization skills. That is something that I have been working on lately so I could become better at it. What organization means to me is having a thought out plan for your day with certain times for each patient that I will have that day. Also a clean workspace so I have access to things much quicker when they are needed. Having good organization is important as nurses because it helps provide the best care for patients. For that reason I bought a planner so that I can start to become more organized and have a well thought out plan or schedule for my
Over the years of my schooling, I have gradually developed my writing preparation to help me become a better writer. I continue to find ways to improve my writing abilities by working on my weaknesses and by incorporating the feedback I receive from my peers and my instructors into my essays. At times, I still struggle when preparing to start my essay, but with precise and organized planning and obtaining the help of others, I am certain that I will become more proficient in my writing
Before I took the test I had wrote down what I thought were my strengths and weaknesses. My strengths were Hard working, Organized, strong believer and my weaknesses were impatient, not good at remembering important dates, and procrastination.
Some of my weaknesses are procrastination and impatience, but I am taking proactive measures to resolve these issues. I have started putting reminders on my phone that helps me to remember when I need to start working. This will also help me keep my time spread out so that way if I get impatient with my computer or I can’t think of anything then I have time to take a break and think. Some of my strengths are my determination, my easy going nature and getting along with other people. (Even when no one else seems to get along with that person.) I also try to keep a positive attitude whenever times are getting stressful and it seems impossible to get what needs to be done accomplished.
Then perfect your craft by practice over and over and read to expand your vocabulary to become a better writer. Critical thinking plays a significant part in writing as well as know how to write and correct punctuation and grammar. There's a lot that comes into play when it to writing. Things like Planning, drafting, revising, editing and proofreading and submitting(Vandermey, 2012). It all has to do with becoming a good writer, which takes practices, patience, and determination to become a good
To begin, I am going to write about my weaknesses and how they transitioned into strengths. First, I remember after each assignment in class was introduced I
In order to do that, I had to describe why this topic affected me. These capabilities that I have are ones I was able to develop over the course of this semester. Now that I can recognize my skills, I can focus on how to improve these skills even more. Even though I’m good at poetry, description, and narration, I can still build and improve these skills.
TOPIC SENTENCE. As the savages are almost completely unrecognizable as young schoolboys, they commit the ultimate sin of any human being: murder. Shortly after Simon’s exchange with the pig’s head, he defies the threat of the head and goes to tell the other boys that the beast is actually a dead parachutist. In the dark and pouring rain, Simon entered what is a savage dance performed by the boys when they killed an animal for meat. The boys are split between two groups: those who seek to be civilized and orderly, and those possessed utterly by evil. However, in this dance, the two groups joined together under the threat of the weather. Simon stumbles into the ring the boys make, and attempts to tell them the truth of the
I am shocked to have to agree with most of the weaknesses listed, but I am thankful to be able to open my eyes to this insight so I can action development for better results in these areas… In summary I have identified my KEY WEAKNESSES as: Weakness Why is it a weakness? 1. I do not listen or value others opinions or input Being as strong principles as I am, firstly this is plain
The aspect which could be counted as my weakness is communication. Over the last year, there has been an improvement after working in my family’s café thus improving these skills and will continue
For my assignment I have decided to choose a group which I have just finished taking for level 1 Hairdressing and they have progressed on to level 2 Hairdressing. This is within my current role as a hairdressing lecturer at Hugh Baird College which I have done since October. Within this group there are a couple of people who have support workers. There is one student within the group who has severe learning difficulties and is a more mature student. She also has many health problems which results in her having to carry an oxygen tank around for when she has any problems with her breathing due to her having problems with her heart. There is also another student in the class who has learning difficulties, she is very clever but just needs someone there for when she needs something explaining. She also has a support worker that comes in to give her support. This student has also been going through personal problems at home and has attendance issues. There is another student within this group who has severe dyslexia. She doesn’t have a support worker but the support people who are in there do give her help as she can have a tendency to give up, not to listen and just needs to be kept on track so by sitting next to a person that does have a support worker she gets the help from them. These three students have all had their level 1 qualification extended for a year were the rest of the group have progressed on to level 2 Hairdressing. Two of these students may progress on to level 2 but one doesn’t have the ability to be able to do this as the requirements are too high for her. The reason the course was extended for them was because they were struggling with the work that was required for this qualification, but as the col...
