Reflection of Knowledge and Skills
Week 1
The first week of the semester, I gain the knowledge about step-by-step process of the way research is conveyed. I was advised by the lecturer to keep a dairy for the record. I had brief knowledge about the methodology that can be used in the research project. Learning how to develop an idea about the accounting issues in an organization was the main goal in the first week.
Week 2
The key of developing an idea for research topic is to look into the area that is interesting to you. After coming up with different ideas and discussing that with the lecturer, this week I gained the insight on how important it is to stay focused in your subject area while researching a topic. While t is one of the main issue in sampling and another issue is of inclusion and exclusion criteria. There are two type of sampling: Profitability and non-profitability.
I also came to know about the different ways to collect the data. As a student, I had a fair idea about few of the methods such as, Internet research, document analysis and case studies. But now I know that there are many other means of data collection and know how to use them.
Week 7
This week was the discussion of the data collection method such as observation method, questionnaires, focus groups etc. in details (Bell, 2005). The different type of research uses different data collection methods. There is the issue of validity and reliability in the research. You should be able to generalize the research motives. I was conflicting on which method would be best for my research project. But with the knowledge and skills I have developed and the guidance from the teacher, I was able to decide the best methods to collect the data for my project.
Week 8
This week was a workshop week for applying the knowledge we gained in week 5,6 and 7 into our research
The purpose of your research project and in what way will it contribute to the academic understanding of your subject matter.

They have been some challenges in trying to figure out the right approach to follow in a research study, and this semester is more of an eye opener that reveals the expected ways in conducting research which has been a very interesting and tough process. Dudley (2011), least four major search strategies available for locating references related to the chosen topic issues these include: (1) consultation, (2) searches in subject indexes, (3) browsing, and (4) footnote chasing. Researcher needs to be aware of all of these strategies in information gathering.
After considering the information in this week’s instructor guidance and readings, I have selected the research topic:
There are two types of research that can be conducted in research studies, these are qualitative and quantitative (Newman, 2011). Qualitative research is a process that uses detailed oriented methodology that tries to achieve a profound knowledge or understanding of specific incident and circumstance, wh...
For me competency 2 is the ability for us as social workers recognizing the characteristics and factors that help shape an individual’s identity and help define what an individual believes in and what they stand for. These characteristics and factors include things such as gender, ethnicity, culture, religion, age, etc. Its these characteristics and factors that affect an individual’s human experience and it’s what makes each of us incredibly unique. As social workers, we must have both respect and appreciation for diversity. Finally, competency 2 also means that we’re able to see how diversity and difference also brings oppression, marginalization, and as well privilege and power. We must be able to understand the different forms and mechanisms of discrimination and oppression and how
The variety of methods and data collection within the research design provided the author with a greater ability to support her thesis.
To be clear, it was not a walk in the park to find a research topic. I first decided to research the history of LGBT because I wanted an easy A, but I soon realized that that topic was way too broad. Then, I decided to research the Stonewall Riots and how it has changed society in terms of today, but I found myself quickly uninterested. The last
What did you learn about your topic you never knew? Something that I learned while studying this topic was the way the football program at Ohio State was started. I had no idea that this was the way that the program started.
For me, coming up with a topic idea is not the easiest task, especially when the theme given is broad. The first step to narrowing my ideas is reading and research. The idea behind reading is that reading what other authors have to say about certain topics, will
Natural Science and Arts will be the two areas of knowledge that I will be focusing on through which I will explore three knowledge issues: To what extent does generation of knowledge require both creative and critical thinking? How do the roles of creative and critical thinking and their interaction vary in areas of knowledge? Is thinking the only way to knowing?
Data Collection and Analysis Questionnaire The research was carried out on both quantitative and qualitative approaches. It began with a quantitative approach—questionnaire. Bryman and Bell (2003) asserted that mail or postal questionnaires are the most popular forms of questionnaires. Another form—self-completion questionnaire—was also common because of the overlap with postal questionnaire to some extent.

It is important that researchers are knowledgeable of the qualitative research methodologies in order to select the most appropriate to investigate their problem of interest, and thereby selecting the most appropriate data collection methods that will aptly produce the richest data for analysis.
The Importance and Appropriateness of Utilizing Different Methodologies for Research. Introduction The process of research entails the logical as well as systematic search for useful data and information with regard to a specific topic (Jha, 2008). It is also comprised of the investigation of the best, most cost effective and appropriate solutions to both social and scientific issues, following an objective and logical analysis. Jha, (2008) defines research as the search for knowledge and the discovery of the truth. During this process, the data can be gathered from a wide pool of sources among them interviews, books, nature among others. The data can then be analyzed with the appropriate data analysis tools, so as to report the findings
