What is your topic? Ohio State University Football
Why did you pick your topic? I have a passion for football and Ohio State is my favorite team. Football has been a huge part of my life since I was born. My dad was a high school football coach for over twenty years, so I have been around football my entire life. I played football from third grade up until I graduated from high school. Being from Ohio I grew up loving OSU, and now I have the chance to further expand my knowledge on the subject.
When did your topic start? Ohio State football originated in 1890 when Alexander S. Lilley coached the Buckeyes to a victory over Ohio Wesleyan University on May 3, 1890.
Was there a reason it started?

Ohio State football has transformed into a national powerhouse since it first originated. The program has gone through many different coaches in the past but currently Urban Meyer is at the helm of the program. The whole landscape of college football has evolved since the program originated in 1890. Everything from Offense and Defense, to recruiting and stadiums has changed. Offenses have changed from 3 yards and a cloud of dust to a spread offense that is balanced between the run and the pass. Offenses have become less physical and more about speed than power. Defenses have also adjusted more because of necessity than because of the want to evolve. The defenses have been chasing the offenses throughout the entire history of football. The recruiting of college football is always evolving and involves extensive time and effort in current times. Stadiums are one of the most visible changes in college football history. Ohio State went from playing on a grass field with bleachers into playing at Ohio Stadium which holds over 106,000 people, and is one of the most well known stadiums in the entire nation. These changes are massive and have changed the entire landscape of college football, not just Ohio State …show more content…
I believe that the two people that created Ohio State Football would be able to recognize what they started. Although the game has changed I believe that it would still be recognizable. The creators would be able to tell that the players are playing football but it wouldn’t be the same type of football they were accustomed to seeing. Football is typically very clear and different when being compared to other sports.
What did you learn about your topic you never knew? Something that I learned while studying this topic was the way the football program at Ohio State was started. I had no idea that this was the way that the program started.
What surprised you about your topic? One thing that surprised me about this topic is how the football program at Ohio State started. I would never have guessed that such a historic program would have started they way and have ever had an unpaid
“The Green Bay Packers are a non-profit corporation held by the citizens of Green Bay to run it’s football team”,who I think are the best, arguably are the most storied franchise in the National Football League, were organized on Aug,11, 1919, in the dingy second-floor editorial rooms of the old Green Bay Press-Gazette building, located on Cherry Street in downtown Green Bay. Never imagining what might become of the semipro football team being formed that day, nobody documented who was there or how many were on hand. There had been no announcement of the meeting beforehand, and the Press-Gazette provided no details about it the day after.Whether a full complement of players attended or if it was simply a
America’s Team Will the real “America’s Team” please stand up? This term is widely used throughout the media when referring to the Dallas Cowboys. “America’s Team” was first coined some 40 years ago while introducing them for a feature film by the legendary sport writer Bob Ryan. In the following years, because of their success and mass media exposure they were a team that America as a nation could identify with ,so the name stuck. The Cowboys since those days has regressed into a very mediocre team who only looks for moral instead of actual Super Bowl victories.
My proposed topic, is how the Chicago Blackhawks saved the enterprise of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Chicago Blackhawks a NHL team, have had many successes together as a franchise, but over the past few seasons the fan base towards the sport of hockey has skyrocketed as many more people have joined the bandwagon. Before hockey was televised, there was a small base of fans compared to the millions
Since 2005 the Philadelphia Eagles have saved 3 million dollars because of the environmental work they have done and 100 percent of their energy comes from reusable sources. ("Smarter Business: Greening the Games") To start off, most NFL teams have charities and donate to charities, especially the Philadelphia Eagles. Also, they help out with the environment. Teams have a special way to pick players around the league and in the draft for their team. To add to that, NFL teams and especially the Eagles keep a close eye on the player's health and how to keep them healthy. I want to start an NFL team and have the franchise based on the Philadelphia Eagles. There are many cities in the U.S. that are suitable for teams and there are a lot of things
Notre Dame?s football history has not only been legendary but memorable. From their extraordinary hall of fame coaches to their historic rivalries, not one person can forget the Fighting Irish. During this Irish History, their dynasty could not have been ?Rock?-solid (referring to Knute Rockne who built Notre Dame Stadium) without outstanding coaches. With thirteen national titles, Notre Dame has more football championships than any other university or college in history. The thirty remarkable coaches include the greatest in Notre Dame?s history: Knute Rockne, Frank Leahy, Ara Parseghian, and Lou Holtz. The program has the highest total winning percentage, higher tha...
Joe Paterno’s name is synonymous with Penn State football. The program has accomplished a lot since the 1960s. How many football programs have clinched two national championships? In fact, how many coaches can claim the same? Since 1995, no team has been able to win successive national championships. Penn State can’t claim a single title since 1986, and hasn’t been in contention for one since their 1994 season. Now seventy-six years old, “Coach Joe Pa” has long forgotten his way of building a strong football program. His years of...

What is one topic I learned today? Why is it important? Why does this topic make sense to me?
Football has been in the making for over 150 years. The foundation of football comes from rugby, a British sport and also incorporates war tactics. In the beginning, the game was unorganized because there were few rules and it was new to the players. But by the end of the Civil War, football had taken on a whole new look; it started to become the modern version that we are familiar with today (Kennedy 7-9). The development of football has changed the culture because, “Every town in America has at least one high school, football team that draws a big crowd” (Buckley 4). Therefore, without fall football, high school students and even parents would have nothing to do on Friday nights. Football games have added to the world of entertainment and continue to grow as a place for social gathering.
My focus of inquiry is gender roles. I chose gender roles as my focus of inquiry because there are multiple differences and similarities in the expectations of women and men then and now. The comparisons between the roles of each gender was enlightening. It made me want to know more, like how, when ,and why they changed if they did, or if they stayed the same what was there significance. This topic seemed to be interesting because these roles are something men and women everywhere experience in everyday life, but in each place around the world they could be different.
When we were told that we needed to pick a research topic, I wasn’t quite sure what to do. After thinking about it in class, I decided that I should research what it is like to play college basketball because I’m playing college basketball next
The topic, which I chose, is probation officer. A probation officer supervises offenders who are out of jail or sentenced to community service. It related to juvenile justice in many ways. For starters when an adolescent is sentenced, the probation officer is the first to be with the kid. Second, the probation officer is also there to look out for the kid and tell them what is right and wrong. Thirdly, a probation officer is there to keep check on the adolescent and help them in whatever way they can. Their goal is to help rehabilitate the offenders. Probation Officers work with social services, law enforcement and other department with education, training, counseling, housing and job placement. The job of the
The topic that I choose is mental health education for teenagers in school. Mental health is a person’s condition with regard to their psychological and emotional well-being. In schools we have classes focusing upon the physical and educational well-being of students but has ignored the mental well-being. The lack of mental health education results in people not knowing how to properly interact with mental illness both in others and with themselves. Not only is the knowledge of how to deal with mental illness an issue but the stigmatization that has derived from the lack of understanding creates a negative environment in confronting these illnesses.
