Carl Jung and Personality Types Carl Jung, who is a student of Freud, described that people behave with predictable and understandable ways. Jung built his classification method of people’s personality based on this. According to his belief, people have preference for how to think and feel and these preference will be the basis of people’s style of relationship, working and play (Northouse, 2012, p. 330). Jung suggested that there are four essential dimensions to evaluate personality. The first is the direction of human energy (to an internal or external direction). This paradigm describes how the innate desires within leaders have effect on behavior in the work site to provide the logical and well-functioning methods for leaders and organizations. The Clinical Paradigm illustrates the subconscious energy of human behavior and defines something latent in human mind to grasp the reasons and motives of leaders and subordinates’ behavior (Northouse, 2015, p. 296-297). 1. There is a reason in the inside of each human behavior. This premise describes that every behavior has a reasonable cause that is hard to understand because it comes from complex and unconscious needs and desires (Northouse, 2015, p. 296). 2. People live with diverse motivation, fears and feelings in their mind. Even though they cannot be aware of these things, they will be influenced by them. Individuals have a hidden area in their mind, called “blind spot.” (Northouse, 2015, p. 296-297) 3. The essential thing is the way to control and express emotions because emotions have influence on people’s experiences in an affirmative or negative way and they make favorite ways to choose when people make decisions.
